Harwood/Uptown: Boutique property with 134 rooms in a 22-story tower, Swiss/Texas design (unique!), in-room safe, refrigerator, room service, three restaurants/lobby bar, health club/outdoor pool, valet parking, and pay on-site parking.
Downtown: Housed in a 1920s neo-Gothic 19-story building, each of the 160 rooms is elegant with plenty of creature comforts including a mini-bar, in-room safe, refrigerator, and room service; there are two on-site restaurants/bar, a health club/spa/massage/indoor and outdoor pools, valet parking, and pay on-site parking. The Spa at the Joule offers an array of wellness activities (charges apply) including skincare treatments, restorative body experiences, a sauna, spa, and vitality pool.
Downtown: Located in the historic 51-story First National Bank Building, the Thompson offers 219 luxurious rooms in the lower half of the building while the exclusive residences of The National occupy floors 22-48. Hotel amenities include an in-room safe and refrigerator in all rooms, a 50th-floor observation deck, and a stunning ninth-floor outdoor rooftop pool along with a health club, hot tub, and the spectacular Spa at Thompson with a full range of wellness and relaxation opportunities to partake in. Guests have four recognized restaurants to choose from, including Catbird on the top floor of the building which has a DJ and dancing during the weekends. Valet and pay on-site parking are both offered.
Downtown: With 407 rooms over 21 floors, the Adolphus was built by Adolphus Busch of St. Louis beer fame, in 1912. Beaux-arts design and magnificently restored, the property wows guests and visitors. Room amenities include a mini-bar, refrigerator, room service, and elegant furnishings. The hotel has a health club/health spa-massage/outdoor pool for leisure times. There are three restaurants and a bar. Valet and paid on-site parking are offered.
Rated Four Stars
Receiving a four-star rating is an accomplishment that upscale hotels are understandably proud of. These properties are extremely comfortable, also with a wide variety of amenities to keep their return guests fully satisfied, and to gain potential new long-term customers. The larger hotel chains such as Marriott, Hilton, Westin, and IHG often have multiple four-star hotels in the larger U.S. markets, and many quite nice three-star hotels in the same cities for travelers who aren’t looking to break the bank with their hotel accommodations. There are more than 20 four-star hotels in Downtown Dallas and adjacent neighborhoods. Some of the most popular properties are detailed below:
Uptown: With 164 rooms on four floors, the Mediterranean-style Hotel ZaZa has become a hugely popular choice for travelers seeking high quality accommodations in the Uptown neighborhood of Dallas. Filled with famous pieces of art and a short walk to the storied shopping and nightlife of the city, if you haven’t heard of Hotel ZaZa before, now would be a suitable time to check it out. Each room includes a refrigerator, in-room safe, and mini-bar. The hotel’s restaurant offers room service, and there’s a bar to relax in as well. Hotel specific features include a health club/spa-massage/hot tub/outdoor pool, and a superb location for checking out Uptown’s shops and wide array of unique restaurants. Both valet and pay on-site parking are available.
Le Meridien Dallas – The Stoneleigh, Turtle Creek/Uptown: Full of atmosphere that fits the artsy neighborhood where this 11-floor, 176-room hotel is located. Trendy rooms include a mini-bar, in-room safe, and refrigerator. On-site restaurant, two bars, and room service. Other amenities include a health club/health spa-massage/hot tub/outdoor pool, valet parking, and pay on-site parking.
Magnolia Hotel Downtown Dallas: This historic property 1922 tower with 27 floors features 329 rooms with a refrigerator, room service, and comfortable surroundings. Amenities include a restaurant and lounge, health club, valet parking, and pay on-site parking options.
Omni Dallas Hotel, Downtown/West End: 23-story tower with 1,001 rooms, in-room safe, refrigerator, room service, three restaurants/bar, Omni Kid’s Club, health club/spa/massage/hot tub/outdoor pool, valet parking, pay on-site parking.
Renaissance Saint Elm Dallas Downtown Hotel: With 177 rooms in a vintage 1932 Dallas high-rise, the 22-story Saint Elm is a stylish and energetic property in the heart of the city. Rooms include a kitchenette with microwave, refrigerator, mini-bar, safe, and the option to order room service. There’s also a health club, French brasserie with a bar, and a coffee lounge. Valet and pay on-site parking are both available.
Sheraton Dallas, Downtown: Enormous 41-story convention-style hotel with 1,841 rooms and garden atrium. Connected to a skywalk to shopping and entertainment, the Sheraton features comfortable rooms with an in-room safe and refrigerator. Guest amenities include three restaurants, room service, two bars, health club/outdoor pool, valet parking, and pay on-site parking.
The Ritz-Carlton Dallas, Victory Park: A landmark property in a ritzy neighborhood with 218 rooms in a 21-story building that is part hotel and part exclusive private residences. Luxury at its finest with contemporary rooms featuring a mini-bar, in-room safe, refrigerator, whirlpool tub, and room service. Hotel amenities include a health club/spa/massage/indoor and outdoor pools, restaurant/lounge, valet parking, and pay on-site parking.
The Westin Dallas Downtown: European style tower with 31 floors and 329 rooms. Hotel amenities include a refrigerator in each room, room service, health club/spa/massage/indoor pool, free all-day lobby coffee, restaurant/bar, and pay on-site parking.

The good news is that there are so many mid-range hotel properties across the country with familiar brand names that you can rest assured that clean, comfortable, and safe places to stay are in abundance in Dallas. And not only will these hotels not cost you an arm and a leg, but you may choose a hotel that offers a complimentary breakfast, free or at least reasonably priced parking, a pool, business center, or other amenities to make your stay even better. Depending on the hotel, there may even be a restaurant for meals beyond breakfast, and a place to sip an adult beverage in the evening.
