DFW ist das größte Drehkreuz für American Airlines, das seinen Hauptsitz nur wenige Minuten südlich des Flughafens hat. Praktisch jede US-Fluggesellschaft bietet Flüge nach/von DFW an, wobei die in Dallas ansässige Southwest Airlines ihren Hauptsitz in Dallas Love Field hat und ausschließlich von dort aus fliegt. Die Züge von DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) bedienen Terminal A über die orangefarbene Linie, und über TEXRail wird Terminal B mit dem Hauptbahnhof von Ft. Worth als Ausgangspunkt bedient. Verbindungen zu anderen Terminals werden durch den DFW-Terminal-Link-Shuttlebus oder den internen SkyLink-Zugdienst gewährleistet.

DFW war der Zeit voraus, als im Masterplan für den Flughafen Platz für ein Hotel auf dem Flughafengelände vorgesehen wurde. Als der Flughafen 1974 seinen Betrieb aufnahm, wurde auch das Hyatt Regency eröffnet, das sich seitdem dort befindet. Ursprünglich bestand das Hotel aus zwei Türmen mit insgesamt 1.369 Zimmern. 2001 wurde ein Turm aufgrund der Erweiterung des Flughafenterminals aufgestockt, so dass im jetzigen Gebäude 811 Zimmer zur Verfügung stehen. Das Grand Hyatt kam 2005 zusammen mit dem neuen internationalen Terminal D hinzu, und 2016 wurde das Hyatt Place eröffnet, immer noch auf dem Flughafengelände, aber im Süden, etwa drei Meilen von den Terminals entfernt.

Whether your travel to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex involves spending time in the area or is simply to take advantage of DFW Airport’s impressive flight schedules, staying close to or at the airport is a fabulous option. Not only will you find some of the region’s best pricing here, but it’s easy to travel throughout the metro area with the central location of the airport as your base of operations. If you have a car with you, parking is much easier and generally less expensive (or free!), too.
Both downtowns are about a half-hour away if you can avoid rush hour, with Six Flags, Texas Rangers baseball, and Dallas Cowboys football in Arlington also under a 30-minute drive at most times of the day. The Dallas Stars NHL hockey team and Dallas Mavericks NBA basketball team both play their home games at the American Airlines Center in downtown Dallas, so again, figure on 30-45 minutes from the DFW area as the games are often played on weekday evenings. Traffic tends to be a bit lighter during the weekends.
If you are spending the night prior to a flight at an airport area hotel, be sure to grab a bite to eat before settling in or pick up food to bring to your room. With the exception of the larger, full-service properties which have restaurants open for evening dining, you will want to check out local dining options before arriving at your hotel. The good news is that there are a gazillion (lots!) of restaurants in the communities nearby the airport, so finding a wide selection of dining options won’t be a problem.
