Dallas Fort Worth International Airport är hjärtat i Metroplex
Med fem terminaler, sju landningsbanor, mer än 160 gater, i genomsnitt nästan 2.000 avgångar och ankomster per dag och en yta på 27 kvadratkilometer (näst störst i landet efter Denver Int'l) är Dallas Fort Worth International Airport en integrerad del av DFW Metroplex. DFW var tidigt ute när man avsatte utrymme på flygplatsområdet för ett hotell i anläggningens masterplan. När flygplatsen togs i drift 1974 öppnades också Hyatt Regency, och det har funnits där sedan dess. Hotellet hade ursprungligen två torn med totalt 1.369 rum, men ett av tornen togs bort 2001 på grund av utbyggnaden av flygplatsterminalen, vilket gav 811 rum i den nuvarande fastigheten. Uniquely designed with multiple terminals located on either side of Texas State Highway Spur 97, more commonly known as the International Parkway toll road that splits the airport, there is both a North and South entrance to DFW. Depending on where you are coming from will determine which entrance is right for you, but it really doesn’t matter as all of the terminals are easily accessible from both directions.

Whether your travel to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex involves spending time in the area or is simply to take advantage of DFW Airport’s impressive flight schedules, staying close to or at the airport is a fabulous option. Not only will you find some of the region’s best pricing here, but it’s easy to travel throughout the metro area with the central location of the airport as your base of operations. If you have a car with you, parking is much easier and generally less expensive (or free!), too.
Both downtowns are about a half-hour away if you can avoid rush hour, with Six Flags, Texas Rangers baseball, and Dallas Cowboys football in Arlington also under a 30-minute drive at most times of the day. The Dallas Stars NHL hockey team and Dallas Mavericks NBA basketball team both play their home games at the American Airlines Center in downtown Dallas, so again, figure on 30-45 minutes from the DFW area as the games are often played on weekday evenings. Traffic tends to be a bit lighter during the weekends.
If you are spending the night prior to a flight at an airport area hotel, be sure to grab a bite to eat before settling in or pick up food to bring to your room. With the exception of the larger, full-service properties which have restaurants open for evening dining, you will want to check out local dining options before arriving at your hotel. The good news is that there are a gazillion (lots!) of restaurants in the communities nearby the airport, so finding a wide selection of dining options won’t be a problem.
