the central midtown location made everywhere walkable or a quick ride on the subway. a friendly welcoming reception team and cosy not formulaic hotel
the room we were in was a little tired though very comfortable and relatively quiet. The lighting was poor and there were a few things not quite up to standard for the room fee. a vanity/shaving mirror in the bathroom would be good. We had to get the bath waste cleared, this should be a daily job by housekeeping. also housekeeping was hit and miss refreshing towels and amenities in the room, some days no hand towel/bath mat others twice as much.

The food at the accompanying pub was really good -- made even better by the vouchers we got from the hotel for the inconvenience of not having a room available for us for a few hours. The receptionists and workers were all very welcoming and kind. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were really nice, specifically the showers. Also, the location could not be beat.
The receptionist messed up my reservation so I had to make a new one for two extra days. This resulted in a wait in the lobby while our room was made ready. In one of our rooms, our bed didn't have a fitted sheet. In the other, the toilet leaked, we think. There was water on the bathroom floor by the sink when we woke up in the morning that was not from the shower.

Downright charming hotel! When they say it's Irish, they mean it, right down to most every staff member's accent. It seems like the Fitzpatrick is a big favorite of airlines, so you'll see a constant stream of pilots and crew every day, and other than that, most guests I encountered (I tend to chat people up) were Irish as well, so the place clearly feels like home if you're from there. The room on the 9th floor was nicely sized by New York standards, and being 6'3", I loved (loved!) the very tall shower head. The mattress was extremely comfortable as well, which is the most important thing to me in a hotel room. The front desk staff were lovely and always happy to chat a bit if you engaged (in my case, Branden and Ali who were great). The 12PM checkout was a major plus. The daily cleaning was never disruptive, somehow they manage to time it just right, which isn't true for many of the chains. And they didn't undo my A/C settings (unlike in some other hotels where they will configure their desired settings every day, which are never as cool as I like). Of course, the location is fantastic, literally across the street from the Grand Central terminal. This hotel will definitely be on my list of top places to consider when visiting NYC in the future.
Relevant only if you are VERY sound sensitive: there may be a bit of noise from the outside - for example, in my case, there was adjacent day construction, and there was no way to avoid some noise bleed. Similarly, if people are being loud in the hallway, you can hear them as well, since it's an older property and perhaps not as sound-proofed as newer ones. Importantly, it wasn't disruptive at any point.

No question, the best thing about staying at the FitzPatrick Grand Central are the staff members. Nearly 70 % of them are from Ireland, and it shows. The warmth, the ease, the care, the graciousness that you experience when you tour Ireland is here in abundance. Just wonderful people who truly care about your comfort and that you enjoy your stay. Also, location is exceptional for Midtown and Midtown East, Grand Central Terminal, etc.
The room was a tiny bit tiny, but I suppose that's true of many NYC hotels. The AC was loud, but eventually the room was cool enough so that I could turn it off. But it could be an issue in the winter when you need heat, and the summer when you need AC.

Convenient location, short walk from Grand Central, ability to get around city from a central location, comfortable room, great staff, very friendly and helpful.
Not a big deal, but the phone message light was blinking and had to be unplugged to shut it off. Need more plugs in general in the room, or at least lamps that have have ports for charging cords. The complimentary toiletries are just ok. This is the 5th or 6th time we have stayed and we feel comfortable there. Just a few tweaks would make it more perfect! Thank you for a very pleasant stay.

We got a lovely welcome when we arrived exhausted from our trans Atlantic flight. The staff throughout the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Our room overlooked 44th Street, had two comfortable double beds and was still very spacious. The bathroom was big enough and there was a plentiful supply of fresh towels plus two bathrobes. The hotel is opposite Grand Central Station which was very convenient when using the subway but many of the midtown attractions are within walking distance. We stayed here for a week and felt very comfortable and at home in this hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend Fitzpatrick's Grand Central to anybody visiting New York.
We had dinner a couple of times in the hotel bar. The food was fine.

We spent 4 nights at Fitzpatricks while in New York. Overall we were very happy with our stay. The Hotel was very nice and our room was very comfortable especially the bed. It was very clean and serviced daily to a high standard. The Wheeltappers Pub was very good and we had both Breakfast and an Evening meal there during our stay and both were very good indeed.
Perhaps some level of modernisation to the decor in the Hotel would give the place a bit of a lift. Check in is a bit late at 4pm especially after a long transatlantic flight so would recommend a slightly earlier check in availability

Our stay at the Fitzpatrick Grand Central was exceptional. Everything from our check in to check out was incredible, we loved our room and all the staff were amazing. But, we have to say a special word for Brendan at the front desk who was extremely professional and friendly. He looked after us so well and made sure our stay was exceptional. He is a credit to the front desk at the hotel and they are lucky to have him. We will definitely be returning.
Honestly cannot say a bad word about our stay. Everything was a class.

I traveled to NYC with my granddaughter for her 10th birthday. We were met by a friendly doorman who immediately engaged in conversation with me and my granddaughter. The front desk clerks were equally friendly and continued the conversation with my granddaughter wishing her a happy birthday. When we returned to our room that evening, the staff had chocolate covered strawberries and cookies sent to the room with a Happy Birthday card to my granddaughter. She was thrilled and felt so special. The next morning we ate breakfast in the pub and the waitress quickly engaged with us making a real effort to connect with my granddaughter bringing her a Fitzpatrick teddy bear. I can honestly say that the staff at the Fitzpatrick exceeded our expectations. We have told many people about our excellent experience urging them to book at the Fitz for their next NYC visit. Location to GCS was also convenient. Thank you!

Comfortable hotel in an excellent location in Midtown. Close to major attractions (Empire State, Times Square, Broadway), bars, restaurants and transport links to more distant attractions. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast could have been included considering the room rate. The quality of the food and beer in the hotel's Wheeltapper Pub was poor. There are far better eating options close by.
