Staff and location excellent! We don't usually stay at a 5-star hotel but when we looked for an affordable central hotel ideally with an outdoor pool for three nights the morning before our arrival they had a Classic Double Room available so we went for it. Staff went above and beyond. We arrived in the morning with the ferry and on arrival we received a welcome drink at the bar. Nice touch. We dropped off our luggage and came back in the afternoon for check-in. Breakfast was amazing. Coffee came in a big coffee pot which is always great as we like more than one mug. Plenty of choice: Continental breakfast with delicious bread, toast if you prefer or hot food options from the menu. We made use of the outdoor swimming pool a couple of times. We never dined at the hotel. We didn't manage to use the Jacuzzi. Also the last two days felt too warm for it. The whole stay was very enjoyable. A big shout-out to the staff!

Bath mixer tap was a bit tricky to use. We found it difficult to regulate the temperature of the water in the bathtub shower. It went from too hot or too cold so it took a bit until the temperature of the water felt ok to use. Apart from this the room was compact but very nice. We explored the island during the day.

The hotel and staff were excellent, which you would expect for the price. The breakfast was superb and the staff so attentive and pleasant.

We were slightly suprised to be presented with an additional bill of £10 per day, service charge, on check out. Whilst this was optional, it was already on our bill and we had no prior warning that this would happen. I would be fairly happy with this if I thought that it would go directly to the staff, but I dont know if it does. Would have preferred to know about this charge beforehand, maybe at check in or in an email from the hotel prior to check out, rather it be added to the bill without prior agreement.

The staff were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble, they were there without being in your face and were really friendly and professional. The bed was great and really comfortable and the pillows I loved. It was so lovely and quiet as well both outside and in, so very well sound proofed and the breakfast was amazing. The pool, spa and gym looked good, but unfortunately did not get a chance to use those on this occasion, but we would love to come back again another time.

The room heating / air con was tricky to work and we were not totally sure if it was working. The bedside table had a crack in the mirrored glass on the top drawer and the bathroom looked like it was close to needing a refurb and the heated towel rail was dangerously hot, but nothing that spoiled our stay, it was all very comfortable, thank you.

Very classic old building. Lovely dining area, good gym , nice pool with loungers and towels, spa facilities. All Staff were friendly, very helpful and accommodating. Bedroom was comfortable with air con. Liked the low level purple light in bathroom, made nighttime visits easier. Very clean and tidy hotel.

Window in bedroom had no voiles or blind for privacy when curtains drawn back. Phone by side of bed easy to knock in dark causing accidental calls. Tall Lamp by bed had switch up by bulb hard to reach in dark. Shower in bathroom good but dated with small step into cabinet.

Outstanding hotel experience! We chose this place to celebrate my dad's 80th birthday, along with two teenagers. The hotel's prime location and top-notch quality truly deserve a five-star rating. The staff were exceptionally friendly and maintained an impressive level of service throughout our stay. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable experience. The concierge was particularly helpful, assisting us in booking day tours and suggesting fantastic dining options. The hotel’s cuisine is also excellent, making it worthwhile to dine in at least once. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone seeking an unforgettable getaway.

The location was good and they greeted us on the steps and parked my car. We were treated like family and really welcomed. My dog was so spoilt there . They brought him, his own dog bed in the room. He is a very big dog but he was allowed everywhere. They always made sure he had water and were fussing him all the time. When we left to go to our hired cottage in Cobo, they invited us to come back and enjoy coffee in the garden or lunch and an evening meal if we were in St Peter’s port. We were sad to go and would definitely return. The breakfast was really good and we chose to eat it in their lovely garden. The food was excellent and of à high quality

It was perfect.

The staff- superb! Particular mention must go to the following staff- Kris/Chris ( Manager) at Front Office, Christina, Roberto, Alessandro,Thanusha, Tendayi, Pamela and the room was superbly cleaned by Sendith ( name spelt incorrectly- he is from Sri Lanka- very professional and so humble,). Nolan and Kingsley, the cooks were superb too. My family wishes to really thank the above staff who went the extra mile in different ways. All made a special effort for my 90yr old mum who had a traumatic journey over from the mainland with a 14 hr delay on Xmas Eve/ Christmas day. Thank you very much.

Nothing. Loved it all.

Amazing location. The beds and bedding are lovely. Nice tea tray with option to have fresh milk. Nice bath robes. Lovely pool - heated which is great. Breakfast was excellent.

We were in 314. It was a little tired - tatty dirty windows. Water was either too hot or too cold.. suspect needs new thermostat. Towels are too small - need bath sheets at 5 star level. Felt a little more expensive than the experience suggested. In terms of value I think it’s a little over priced. Some of the team were fabulous, some seemed less interested,

The hotel itself is beautifully restored, combining historical charm with modern amenities. My room was cosy and impeccably clean, offering lovely views over the rooftops of St. Peter Port and a little bit of the harbour. The comfortable bed ensured I had a restful night’s sleep. The service provided by the staff was friendly and attentive. Breakfast on-site was delicious. The location is perfect for exploring St Peter Port, with shops, cafes, and attractions just a short walk away. Overall, my stay at the Old Government Hotel was fantastic. I can’t wait to return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a charming and comfortable place to stay in St Peter Port!

Everything was wonderful. Yet, I would like to propose elevating its status to a genuine 5-star experience. I think the hotel could benefit from adding a few extra touches of luxury, such as offering a complimentary glass of Champagne at breakfast. Injecting more vibrant into the reception area could significantly enhance the guest experience.
