Hostal Tokio

The bedroom was spacious and comfortable. There was daily cleaning as well. The location was the best part, a few steps from Gran Via and an array of attractions and subway stations. We did most of our sightseein on foot. Also, despite being so close to the action, the bedroom wasn't noisy at night. We stayed almost a week and felt comfortable and at home. I totally recommend this hostal.

The bathroom was tiny, very difficult to move around in there. There was a "bathtub" which was completely unnecessary, it only interferred with the mobility in the shower. The water took very long to heat and sometimes it would get cold mid shower.

This is my third or fourth stay at the Hostal Tokio. The location is perfect with a short walk to two different Metro lines, several Markets, bakeries, restaurants, etc. They provide a nice basket of toiletries, the showers are nice pressure, and the staff are very kind, especially the young translator ;) The neighborhood (Malasana) is considered "hip" now, which means lots of options for food, music, bars.

The only advice I can give is to get an interior room on the weekends if you can- the street below can be very noisy all night long (downside of hip neighborhood). The retractable noise and light barriers are helpful, but my interior room was very quiet, as opposed to my friend's room overlooking the street.

The check in and check out process were both smooth. The room was clean and i liked that the fact that it contained its own private toilet & bathroom in the same room. The staff was friendly and I felt welcome. To add it the property is easily accessible by metro Granvia and Tribunal. There are also bus services that are available in the area. In addition, it is centrally located and one has access to various shops and eateries.

Nothing to dislike it was amazing

Location is really amazing walking distance to Gran Via. The room was comfortable enough and despite seeing talking about loud noises, my room was pretty quiet (double windows perhaps?). The room and private bathroom were nice and clean.

The bed could have been a bit more comfortable, it sunk as I would lie down on it. The safe did not work so I had to carry my valuables with me during the day. I don't mind the light from outside but the window shutters did not function / got stuck.

It was very well located, with everything near by, closest metro “ Callao” walking distance to everywhere in central Madrid! Closest to puertas del sol, walking distance to El Prado Museum, Reina Sofia museum, and La Gran Via where all the stores for shopping are located! Also very close to El Corte Inglés de Callao which has a lovely terrace with the Gourmet Experience!

That we didn’t stay longer :( This is a better option than an Airbnb!

The location was awesome super close to everything we wanted to see. The room was spacious and comfortable. We had a room with double beds. It was warm in the winter time. They provided all the sheets and towels we needed. They guarded our luggage for us before check in and while we were waiting for our train. They even put hot water for tea into our thermos for us. The staff definitely made it a top notch experience. Just some things to note so that you can have proper expectations: while I think the staff spoke English, they definitely were much more amiable to me because I spoke Spanish. This is a small Hostal without a lobby area and the whole thing occupied like half of a floor of a five or so story building; so there wasn’t a lobby or anything like that. There wasn’t anything in the room to make coffee or tea with or any breakfast offered on the property, but there were plenty of cafeterias within a two minute walk. The window of our room looked into a courtyard- like most Spanish buildings, but we were paying for the beds and the location not the view. All in all a wonderful place to stay in Madrid for a very reasonable price.

Clean and modern

Our listing said he had a balcony/ patio and when we got there our room only had a small window. Also listing said we would have a city view but our window was out to a small courtyard.

I had a wonderful stay at the hostel! The staff was incredibly friendly and made my experience truly enjoyable. The atmosphere was welcoming. I highly recommend this hostel for a fantastic and memorable stay.

Absolutely excellent location!! The room was nice and clean, the staff were very friendly. Our flight was significantly delayed and the staff kept check in open for us as we had emailed them.
