The a la carte breakfast was really exceptional. The best omelet I've tried in a while. They let you order multiple meals from the menu. The pancakes were delicious. The location is excellent if you want to explore Valletta on foot. The hotel is charming as well, and the terrace is fantastic, given the limited space in such a town.

Nothing really. The bed could've been a bit more comfortable, but it is far from uncomfortable. It is located in the city center - it can get a bit noisy, although in November we didn't get sleepless nights over it. Do note that if you require absolute silence you are better off choosing a different location outside of Valletta for your vacation.

Firstly the location is excellent for exploring Valletta on foot, you are right in the centre and can be at a restaurant or cafe within 10 meters. The room was large and spacious, super clean, with a well equipped bathroom. We both loved the breakfasts, from cooked to fresh fruit was all prepared and presented very well.

There is no road outside the hotel which is situated on a pedestrian walkway, the distance from the road is only about 10m but it is uphill to the Hotel. The movement of luggage can be a challenge to us pensioners. This is not the hotels fault and we would need to go back the the 15th Century to change anything.

Overall we really liked it -The staff in the hotel reception were some of the best I’ve ever had, really helpful -Room and bathroom were very clean and comfy -Location was fantastic - so central -The food at breakfast was great

-There were no windows in the room so ventilation was a slight issue -Breakfast staff - so unfriendly, so unhelpful. Took nearly 15 minutes to get served one morning as we couldn’t find any staff and none of the tables had been cleaned after previous guests left (at peak time 9.30am). Finally managed to track someone down but after 5 minutes (of standing around playing on their phone) they still made no effort to tidy away the old dishes or crumbs and I got a death stare when I asked for the table to be cleared and reset, surprising to get such a reaction in covid times when cleanliness and hygiene is key! Also saw non-hotel guests come for breakfast and get put off and walk out after the lack of service so we weren’t alone in this

The Cumberland is in the perfect location for staying in Valletta. You are close enough to the street that you're schlepping your luggage for blocks and yet our balcony was overlooking a pedestrian passage with a view from our terrace to both harbours. The hotel is beautifully refurbished, keeping the elements from 17th century blended with the modern. Breakfast, which was included was substantial and kept us fuelled for walking the city and sustained for a late lunch.

We're both over 70 so sometimes by the end of the day you don't want to climb another hill so we cabbed it back to the hotel. The hotel can't do anything about natural geography.

The location, the hotel, the breakfast, the friendly and attentive staff

Some rooms do not have windows to the outside. Next time, we will pay more to have a room with a balcony

Amazing experience, with very attentive staff, consistent service and friendly all around. The front desk staff, including front desk manager Sunny, were attentive every single day, making sure our stay and needs were accommodated. The location was amazing in the heart of Valletta -- also, with MCP parking garage just a few hundred metres away, the hotel was the perfect location to explore all that Malta had to offer. We stayed for a full week, and by the end, felt so at home and at ease, it was hard to leave. Thanks to all the staff we interacted with day in and day out, but especially would like to note Sunny, Ovi and Pabel for making our stay special

The most perfect hotel ever! Every single thing has been considered, which is rare for a boutique hotel. From the power point locations in the rooms, the USB charging, the multiple full length mirrors (all things often overlooked), to the incredibly spacious room, the location, the view and most importantly, the service! We needed beach towels, no problem. We wanted to hire a car, one was arranged and delivered to the hotel. We wanted restaurant reservations booked, easy done. Sylvia in particular is so professional and polite and made our stay a dream. Last of all - the location of The Cumberland is UNMATCHED. It is the most central hotel in Valletta and within walking distance to everything.

Room was great mainly because of the terrace which was fantastic. Lovely to sit out in the sun with a drink and a book. Lovely view of the harbour and city if you looked over the glass fence at the front. The staff were really nice and it was nice to have breakfast served at your table instead of the 'buffet'.

I know it's an issue of space but I dislike showers over baths that you have to climb in and out of - walk-in showers so much better and easier. Also the bedroom and bathroom did not have one single hook or towel rail for towels or jackets etc. Put some near the door into the room and behind the bathroom door and it would be great.

Everything was exceptional. The staff who always smiles. The wifi works really well. Shower water pressure is great. The hotel has its own restaurant which has the best food in Valletta (we visited almost every high rated restraunts). Location is amazing, located in a very center of an old town. Breakfast is very good. Many thanks to Kole who welcomed us in a very friendly manner, suggested the places to visit and helped us find out more about the hotel’s history and Malta in general.

Everything was great, definitely will recommend to friends and family.

Location in Valletta was excellent for all the local sites of interest, connecting with tours, finding something to eat etc. The staff were all so cheerful and helpful. The breakfast choice and presentation was exceptional. The room was exceptionally clean and well appointed. It was kept clean throughout our stay with regular fresh linen. We did not use the terrace. I guess for smokers it would have been ideal. It would have been nice to eat breakfast there. We did not use the public roof terrace. One evening after dinner we went to look for a drink but there was no one about. It would have been nice to know we could catch a drink there at 10pm. One little thing .....a hook for bath robes in the bathroom would have been helpful.

If you had mobility issues you may have found the short walk from the bottom of the road to the hotel with luggage a bit of a problem. It was fine for us (active 70 year olds) but just a point to be noted.
