Hôtel des Patients

staff, facilities, location, breakfast... it was a 5 star services and facilities. extremely clean, and well located steps from the metro stations nearby downtown. Towels were awesome, just as new. I mention it because of hotels i have stayed in europe have very cheap, too many times washed towels that feel like sandpaper.... not Hotel des Patients, towels were just great as they should be!

on arrival i was a little bit surprised that there were kind of "clinic / hospital" patients walking around the hotel as if it was a hospital. After talking to the staff i realised the hotel is attached to a clinic, not a hospital, hence the name "hotel des patients". This was not rally a problem. though i'd like to mention that some patients, especially mum's just given birth, were having breakfast or dining at the hotel restaurants with their babies in a cradle. A nice view and reminder how wonderful is to have children. however, may. b not for everyone?

The reception staff on arrival were very helpful. The hotel is located close to the metro for easy access into the centre of Lausanne (you are provided with a free pass for unlimited use of the metro). The hotel is very peaceful. The cleanliness and decor of the room and hotel in general is excellent The buffet breakfast each morning is also excellent- very good choices of all types of foods- hot dishes, cold meats and cheeses, fruits, pastries and cereals. There is also lots of choice of cold juices and hot drinks. Just be aware you share the restaurant facilities with women and new born babies from the hospital maternity unit.....but this really doesn't deter from the enjoyment of the stay!

The room was extremely hot and there was no way of cooling it down. The large window didn't open and although we had a free standing fan in the room it wasn't enough to keep the room cool. We appreciate that the hotel can't control the weather, but maybe more than one fan could be offered in extreme heat conditions?

Very unusual staying two nights in a hotel within a hospital campus but it worked very well. The venue is outside of the city centre but the dining room supplied very adequate meals in the evening with a full bar facility. Breakfast was an exceptional buffet which was included in the rate. The hotel is only yards from the CHUV metro stop on the Metro line from Lausanne Station.

Nothing to dislike. Not many bars or restaurants around the area which we could see but the room was very comfortable with television - very good value for a couple of nights.

This is a great hotel with only very few faults. Great buffet breakfast, great staff, awesome rooms, comfy bed, good neighborhood, close to the metro, free transport cards. We had a good time here.

Well, it is the height of summer, and the room had no air conditioning whatsoever. Our room was facing eastwards, so even though we had our window open all night, it became unbearably hot very early on. The room also didn't have a fridge, or a minibar, where we could have kept a drink, or a piece of fruit cold. From september untill may I wouldn't have noticed, but these summer days were way too hot. Also, the inhouse restaurant is not very good for a dinner.

Friendly caring staff throughout the hotel, pleasant rooms and facilities ... and the resaurant is amazing - definately not hospital food! Non hospital patients can book rooms - I met holiday makers in the restsurant. I had to urgently travel to Lausanne to be with my son injured in a mountain bike accident. The hotel is part of the hospital and I was able to stay in the hotel while he recovered. After a while he was transfered to the Hotel (as he did not require a hospital bed but needed to be monitored with regular visits to the nursing station in.the hotel). I had to extend the stay and moved into a twin room with him and got a heavily discounted rate.

There is nothing to reasonably object to!

I was a little bit apprehensive at first as I translated the name of the hotel after booking it and it means Hotel for patients. But when I reached it, I found the staff good, the room excellent, bathroom excellent, bedsheets clean, room size perfect, views amazing. Next morning had superb breakfast and saw little new born babies with mums (hotel for patients remember). Only REGRET - We were only for 1 day.

It was very hot on the day we arrived and the cooler wasn't working. But the explanation given was that Switzerland never needed AC so the room did not have one which is a fair explanation. Solved the problem by opening the windows and turning on the fan.

Having traveled to 37 states in the US and over 20 countries worldwide, the Patients Hotel is the clear winner. Why? Massive modern bathroom and bedroom space, fantastic free breakfast, beautiful outdoor sitting area, easy access to transportation, and the new experience of sharing a hotel with ambulatory patients. The US needs to adopt this concept!

The location of the entrance to the bathroom was very unsafe to navigate from the bed at night. Thankfully, we travel with a small digital nightlight. Tapping it adjusts the desired light level. Also, while the building was built with very high quality materials, we found that air conditioning should have been incorporated.

Quiet, clean, modern. A caring environment for patients. Especially the catering team is exceptionally kind and forthcoming. Received wonderful kindness and hospitality from them. We really enjoyed our breakfasts and dinner. Quality of food is superb. Lots of sweet newborns and their parents around which is charming (maternity ward attached to the hotel) Easy access to “Publibikes” and metro station

Heat trapped in hotel room, no way to ventilate. Sleeping with open window meant traffic noise (including ambulances going out at night). Reception staff was rather cool about it. We didn’t know it was also a hospital. We stepped out on “wrong floor” from the elevator and were sent back. This should be better indicated. Convenient but expensive underground parking, 52 CHF for two nights.

Hotel located close to a metro station; and free travel pass for hotel guests made it very convenient. Our room was good size and very clean. Check-in staff was very friendly. Breakfast was good. We had dinner at the restaurant one of the evening. Enjoyed the meal.

However, at the end of the evening when we asked whether we can charge the dinner costs to the room, the staff at the cashier just answer a stern 'NO'. No tea making facility in the room.

Room size excellent, Breakfast fresh with lots of choices, free public transportation during the whole stay provided at the check in!! wonderfull

Main issue - ventilation in the bathroom was on during the whole night, unable to switch off. Noisy!!! No fridge , no hairdryier, no iron. We were three persons, fit out except for towels only for two persons only. WIfi coverage very poor, half the room was not covered at all. Safe was not working. Extra bed made from sofa was really uncomfortable, but you can survive it for a few days.
