Holiday Inn Express Calgary South, an IHG Hotel

Location fit my needs for business meetings & recreation access.

My original Calgary flight on Thursday, July 6 @ 9:20p was rescheduled to 10:20p; this rescheduled flight was then cancelled due to poor weather (thunder, lightening, rain) at Calgary Airport. This flights was postponed to Friday, July 7 @ 10a to Edmonton, then to Calgary arriving @ 4:20p... I called HIE Calgary-south @ 12:20a July 7 & informed of the change in my reservation... I was anticipating a 'no-charge' for Thursday, July 6 reservation... due to weather conditions that was out of my control. Please consider this scenario as one that could not be avoided... & consider a reasonable reimbursement for 1 night. Otherwise, the HIE-calgary south served my purposes. Thank you for your kind considerations.

We’ve stayed here before when visiting family, snd the location is very convenient for the purpose. Breakfast is quite good, better than so many places with breakfast included. And the grandkids (we had family in several rooms) love the pool and water slide.

The room was freezing and the label on the HVAC said to leave it alone and use the wall thermostat. Well the thermostat did nothing so we adjusted the HVAC and we’re then comfortable. The fridge was so noisy, running nearly all the time so we unplugged it.

It was under renovations which it did not say on the booking site, this affected the parking and we had to park quite far away from the hotel. Also the hot tub wasn’t working. Very expensive also. 4 nights cost us almost 1000! The hide a bed couch was horrible to sleep on as well.

The pool and it was close to where our events we’re taking place. Also the breakfast was great and the staff for the most part were very friendly and helpful.

The atmosphere was warm and inviting, was clean. The continental breakfast was awesome, lots of choices and tasted delicious. The pool was very relaxing and would bring my family because of the slide and was set up very nicely.

The toilet kept making noises and I had to close the bathroom door so that I could sleep. The device in the window kept coming on and making the room chilly and was very loud when it was on in the evening, at least it stopped when I went to bed. In the morning I realized that the temperature was set to cold. I did not touch the thermostat during my stay.

Very close for where we were having a family funeral. Very comfortable. Staff were amazing

The bathroom sink wouldn’t drain very well so you would leave it and come back and there was black stuff that had come up. Room 211. Think it needs a good hit of drain cleaner. No warning of hotel construction that didn’t effect the stay except for the no parking. Was never told we’re else to park if lot was full. Ppl needed up blocking us in many times

Breakfast served fresh and good food .the service was busy at the time we stayed because its a long weekend expected to be busy during service but still the Staff served quality foods and this for me the most important . Thanks to Ms. Jian and the other lady receptionist they both arranged are rooms even their are some short notice changes. I will surely comeback in this hotel location everytime i go to calgary.

We have stayed in this property before and is very comfortable it is very close to both my daughters and the hotel has no problem of my grandchildren visiting me there

Again the inside of the shower should have grab bars for the elderly visitors and people limited mobility there is a grab bar to help you in and out which was appreciated but offered no help during the shower itself

The staff were so friendly and accomidating, they were going to give my other party a king room since they didn't have a joining rooms. I opted for the 2 queen beds as they didn't want to sleep in the same bed. Rooms were clean, and the services ok, everybody there were kind and helpful. The Breakfast is nice and early 6:30 AM - 10 AM

The beakfast was not the best food was warm not hot and they were limited to what they offer no Pancakes, waffles just eggs, sausage and toast or cereal and oatmeal. Need better variety of food as well as more tables

Pool area was a bit messy. Toilet in bathroom in pool area plugged. I reported it to staff, and no one came to fix it or clean the bathroom. Pool towels could only be retrieved from front desk which was a bit of a pain. Location is great. Family suite was great. Staff friendly in breakfast area and room cleaning staff. Beds comfortable.

Cleanliness of pool area. Non-helpful front desk staff when reported toilet in pool area was plugged and gross.

Very quiet location and convenient to access. The room was clean and the bedding was comfortable. The staff were courteous.

Some areas of sloppy workmanship in the bathroom. The finishing around the shower is rather crude with ill fitting boards and haphazard caulking. There was nothing to hang the towels on. The backboard to the shelf under the sink wasn’t secured. The ceiling had a lot of water staining.
