ibis Styles Basel City

We stayed 4 nights at this hotel. 1. The hotel is walking distance (10+ mins) from the Basel SBB bahnhof. You can take a tram for one stop and then walk. Else there is a bus which stops right opposite but is only available during peak hours. 2. Staff is exceptionally good and polite. 3. Breakfast is good. The do have scrambled eggs and sausages/ chicken nuggets. In general there are many options and also the staff is very attentive. 4. Rooms are bigger than normal IBIS hotels. 5. We went during summer and AC works fine but it takes time to cool the room. 6. Place is very safe for families.

1. The sofa bed is not comfortable to sleep. 2. Provide a fridge in the room. In absence of fridge the team helped us keep stuff in their common freezer which was helpful. 3. The food and drinks in bar are well priced but they can increase the options.

Hotel is very clean and very well located for visiting city center and/or Basel Zoo. Our girls still remembered the breakfast (with mini-croissants!) from 2 years ago. It was still the same good, maybe even better! Lots of choice and of all of high quality. Hotel staff at breakfast very helpful/attentive/alert. Free coffee (also of good quality) and tea in hotel lobby, which is nice. Selection of snacks and drinks (at very reasonable prices!) available in hotel lobby as well. Staff overall very friendly and helpful.

The sleeping sofa is a bit short and not very comfortable for an adult

The location was ideal, close to the tram and the 42 bus across the road which operated during peak hours. The walk to the train station was mostly pedestrianised but not obvious at first attempt, ask directions from a local if attempting. The hotel bedroom was good but not huge and no chairs were provided to sit on which are needed, we had to sit on the bed. One tiny backless stool was provided. Breakfast was good but a poor variety of fruit provided. The city of Basel is lovely, we did a Viator walking tour and I would recommend it.

No seating provided in the bedroom!

We would like to thank Justine at the reception for her exceptional welcoming and for guiding us to touristic places in Basel. She gives us enough time for any inquiries and complaints with smily face all the time. .Our stay at IBIS Styles In was memorable and tons of appreciation for Justine.

Bed sheets were not clean there were small hairs on bed sheets and we talked to the guy at the reception..he kept in arguing of this case and told us that there was no room service at night..they brought us new sheets and we changed the sheets by ourselves!

When we checked in we had arrived from our wedding ceremony, so we were still all dressed up. The person checking us in gave us a free drink voucher to celebrate the occasion, which was super nice! She answered all of our questions thoroughly and instructed us on how to use the complimentary bus pass to catch the bus to the airport the next morning (we had a super early flight to catch). She also made sure we had prepared lunches in the morning since we were going to be up earlier than breakfast would be available. All of this made the following morning a breeze for us.

Everything was fantastic, so I don't have any complaints! :)

Large parking places which can be booked in advance. Helpful staff: they told us about the free transport card with discounts for musea, and issued it for us

The design of the bathroom is very disappointing: toilet witout lid (a feature, not a bug), unpractical towel hanger location, and a shower curtain which does not reach the floor (see picture), such that the room is flooded after each use and you have to use the towels to contain the water (obviously useless for the next day: they must be necessarily replaced; so far for "environmentally-friendly")

Very convenient for an overnight stay. we were a family of 4 and we slept quite comfortably. worth noting is the breakfast, which was included in the price and was having all what you need. There is a parking on the spot and can be accessed through the elevator. The location of the hotel is also very well positioned so that you do not need to enter the central parts of the Basel and just move on with your trip.

I would have added a bit mir clothes hanging equipment as for family of 4 it was hard to find place for all the clothes.

Kind and helpful staff, modern space, clean, comfortable and the location was ok.

I didn’t like when I had to get my breakfast on the go, I was a little bit disappointed for what I received from the kitchen staff. All I got in the bag was a capri-sun, water and four mini croissants which I am sure all together is under 10 francs and initially when booking, the breakfast I paid for was maybe 20-30 francs so the quality of the food received didn’t match the value paid of course.

Fantastic breakfast included in the price. Twin room with sofa bed - plenty of room for 3 of us ( would easily sleep a family of 4) Free coffee available throughout the day in foyer. I would happily stay here again.

Big queues at breakfast - possibly could be laid out differently or an extra coffee machine. No tea/coffee making in the room and foyer machine seemed to often be without milk/kaffeerahm. In defence of the hotel - we did stay at Fasnacht so it was very busy!! But maybe review for future?

The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The shower was fantastic and the bed was super comfy! The soap and shampoo were really nice and it was also nice to see an attempt to minimize waste by using refillable dispensers. The breakfast was delicious, plentiful, and was available late in the morning, which is always nice on weekends so you don't have to rush.

The room furnishings were very minimalist: no hooks for hanging coats / bags at the entrance and there was not much storage space for clothes or counter space in the bathroom. It was fine for a summer weekend but could be annoying for a longer stay, or in winter if you had wet coats. The sliding bathroom door didn't fully close, which was a bit awkward!
