Hotel Alfa

Lovely staff at the Alfa, answered all our questions. Couldnt have been more helpful and friendly. Excellent service, i cant fault them. Good sized room. Good location with tram link right outside. Great coffee in the restuarant.

Coffee machine in the room didnt work (but staff gave us a kettle, so not so bad). The pillows . . . The hot . . Hot . . . HOT pipes in the bath room!

Great connection to tram. In about 15-20 minutes you are in the middle of the city or can change to all possible trams or get to the main station. Room big enough for a solo traveler, good facilities in the room, nice bed, friendly staff.

Due to it being close to the tram and my room facing the street, sometimes the noise was loud from the busy street. It wasn't often as it is not a city center but occasionally at night or early morning you could hear traffic. Prepare some earplugs to combat the noise :)

We were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. We arrived during a beautiful sunny day and had a spot to swim in the river just behind the hotel. Great location in a nice neighbourhood of Basel. About 30mins walk to the old city. You get a free travel card upon arrival and there is a tram right outside the door. Room was old but very clean; and it was nice to have a coffee machine and free water upon arrival. Room was spacious. Also the hotel has free parking in a lot just behind it. Very good value for money in Basel! We will definitely stay again. Reception was also nice and friendly.

The hotel is located next to a tram line which is ideal for travelling around the City. The location was also ideal as we were visiting St Jakobshalle. The room was very clean and had great Wi-Fi and a really good selection of TV channels. Breakfast was very good and the staff organising it were great, very helpful.

A mini fridge in the room would have been ideal and the shower, although very good, could do with a refresh. The street can be a little noisy at night but you just need to keep your window closed. I left on a Sunday and it would have been ideal to have picked up my case later than 3pm. My flight was late in the evening and it seems reception closes after 3pm on a Sunday

I like the location, just opposite of a tram station. Hotel has free parking . Free transpo for guests too. Staff were nice and friendly. As asians, the room size and bathroom is just right for us. The noise doesnt really bother us. The blankets were thick to which i super liked it.

The pillows were really soft and uncomfy. Unfortunately my sleep wasnt good that night. The shower curtains are leinen which it can be really wet. Also Wifi is so slow (3rd floor room). However we only stayed one day so its fine. Other than that, the rest were good.

The location is great: next to tram stop, and walking distance to the riverside. Very easy to reach the center shortly. It has great service including the free transport ticket, awesome. Easy to self check-in, the breakfast was simple but fulfilling. Moreover, the staff were friendly, kind and helpful with everything. They surely added up the experience of the stay. :)

The facilities are a bit old, all working fine but some update can be nicer. The bedding I had was kind of "cave-in", not too bad but too soft for me.

The location is great. There is a tram station just in front of the hotel that takes you to the old town in less than 10 min. You will be in a calmer part of the city and still well connected. From walking distance you reach the river and nice parks and there is a convenience store right next to the hotel. The hotel is simple but it offers good value for money. Breakfast is basic but enough.

Beds and pillows are too soft. Also if you have a family with children in the room above, you might hear the children running.

The size of the room, great bed which meant a great sleep. English TV channels, storage and wardrobe. Opposite the tram station with easy 10 minute commute to the centre.

No air con, only given one pillow. Room was a little dated with a faulty toilet seat and bathroom door handle which didn't negatively impact our stay

Hotel is located on main street and really easy to reach, either by car or public transport. Hotel parking is sufficient (approx. 15 parking spaces), although if you come late, there wouldn't be free space. Just in front of hotel entrance is tram station (line no. 3) so you can reach city center within 10 min. Also you will receive free BaselLand ticket for free public transport in Basel area and numerous discounts for attractions. Room is standard, medium sized, with double bed and worktable. On table you will find caffe machine, cup, caffe capsules and mineral water. Bathroom is OK, clean as whole room. Hotel stuff is amazing, especially trainee at the reception desk, who shared as much as she can information about stay in the hotel and the city.

Room window was looking directly to the main street (Hauptstrasse as address is), so you can expect traffic noise early in the morning and late into the night.

The room was very modern, comfy and cosy (the heating was full on when I came in, which was great after spending the day out in the cold!). I liked the complementary water and coffee too :) also, I had to study for a bit and the light was great for that.

The room door didn't close! Like you turned the key and it didn't lock, so I was a bit hesitant at first . But then I realised that the hotel was super calm and stopped paying attention to that. But technically, it could have been unsafe.
