We were in the dorms and it was very nice, The beds were good and everyone had personal lockers next to the beds. The kitchen had what you needed and a good system for storing things in the fridge. The Baselcard being included was very nice for public Transport. The staff was very nice.

The Upper Bunks didn't have anywhere to put stuff next to the bed. The Kitchen was clean enough but could definitely use a deep clean/ reset.

Initially, I was alone in a room with provision for four people but they changed me over to a single room for the remainder of my stay. I liked this! I spent my days as a schoolboy in communal dormitories so it's not my preference to sleep with strangers... The room was fine, very quiet and with comfortable chairs. The hostel is located near bars and restaurants as well as a salsa club which holds dances. I liked that too!

Just a minor quibble but I would have liked a small fridge in the rooms for storing food and drink. It cuts costs and Switzerland is an expensive place!

Although the hostel is of industrial decor, which can feel cold, there is lovely extras that some other hostels do not offer eg free hot drinks/water, soap & paper towels supplied. It's kindness such as these which marks a hostel out from the rest in my opinion. The kitchen was an added bonus. As arriving after 9pm, I expected to use a pin code to get my key, but a staff member was working late so it was nice to deal with him. Basel public transport is excellent & drop off is very close-I found street view very helpful to know where to go in the dark. The Central train station is approx 15 mins walk away and that's close to the beautiful old city.

Only there one night but in that short time didn't find anything I didn't like.

We had a great double room in the families' wing, with shared toilets and showers. We loved the nice decoration, the comfy modern chairs and old wardrobe, as well as all the wooden touches. It was very warm and we didn't have to turn the radiator on. The shared kitchen is well appointed, with two separate hob areas and plenty of dishes and pans. The communal table is lovely, to meet other travellers young and not so much. The location is a 15-20 minute walk from the Basel SBB and the Basel Card included in the price was very handy for trams and buses. Tram 15 stops nearby. Tram 16 a few blocks away (they modified the route in 2023).

We didn't find the kitchen until the second day when we asked where we could get hot water for tea. A bit more info about the hostal facilities at the beginning of our stay would have been nice.

Basel is a vibrant city. What I liked most about this Hostel and having stayed in a private room is that the price is in line with the comfort. To start with its location, Gundeli is a commercial area where you can get everything from supermarkets, restaurants and cafes. Very safe to walk and very well connected to the train station (10-15 min walk)The staff who work at the reception are very friendly and explain very well about the facilities offered by the hostel and the city and the best of all is that the rate includes a transportation pass with which you can move around the entire city (airport also) and in some places get free internet.

What I didn't like about my stay there was not being able to stay more days in this beautiful and cultural city. For me everything was perfect

For Switzerland this place is excellent value. My room (though devoid of en suite as expected) had real character and was spacious. It was tastefully decorated and softly lit! The staff could not have been more helpful. Although about 15 mins walk from the SBB station, there are tram stops immediately outside for the city centre, and buses to the DB station (for most trains to Germany). The breakfast was simple but tasty (buffet) including fresh grapes and at only CH 8.50 was extremely good value. The staff were obliging in accepting Euros for breakfast and tourist tax without taking financial advantage.

All the rooms are up at least one flight of stairs and there are no lifts. The mattress is not flush with the wall - there is a (tasteful, arty) wooden horizontal piece between pillow and wall, which I personally was not keen on. Stopped me reading in bed, but didn't prevent a good night's sleep!

In a quirky location within walking distance of Basel. The nearest tram / bus stops are very close. The buildings used to be an old factory making compressors. SBB. We stayed in a very clean room with a double bed. The toilets and showers were shared, but very clean and functional. As mentioned in other reviews there are numerous electric sockets in the room and the free WiFi works well. Guests.also get given a Basel card giving free access to public transport and half price entry to museums. Werk 8 is a restaurant / bar within the complex where we enjoyed some excellent vegan food and local beers.

Nothing much to say here. I'd missed that there was a 4 CHF per person tourist tax to pay on arrival, but the Basel card offered on arrival more than compensates

I had upgraded my stay to my own room, and in this case I had a 4-bed dorm room all to myself (including a double bed). Since it was after the main tourist season, the hostel was not full, so access to water closets and showers was easy. The place was very clean and quiet and located just steps from public transit stops, making it very easy to see the sights of Basel and get to/from the train station. It's also located in a very cool converted factory complex, with bars and restaurants nearby. Nice breakfast for just 8 francs (a bargain!) was a nice touch. Staff was very friendly and fun to chat with. There is also a lift for those with luggage. Highly recommended!

Not a thing. 10/10!

This is a wonderful hostel on a quiet side of town in a section of an artisan studio block. Spotlessly clean, fantastic showers (strong, hot, not timed), laundry, big airy rooms with single sex dorms, comfy bunks including some doubles and all with own lights. Very helpful staff. Free tea and coffee. Number 15 tram goes right past it and buses too (you get a 24 hour free pass when you pay your tourist tax for accommodation).

There was a party going on outside so it was noisy til midnight. I think this is pretty unusual as the reception guy said so. Extremely quiet after that.

The experience in general, the recepcionist was super nice and friendly, she explained everything very well. The room was spacios and some beds were double and some others individual. The location is not exactly in the center but considering that you get a card for public transport, it is super easy to move around so all good.

it is not the propertys fault but the guests as some people were not so clean when using the toilets, but maybe a pont to improve is to check more often the bathrooms and make sure everything is clean and not smelly.
