The rooms, lobby, and bar made us feel like we were in a very high class hotel. The guest room had a speak easy vibe- dark woods, refurbished wood floors - very comfortable bed and pillows. Beautiful dark green shower tile. We just loved it! The lobby is so cool- to sit and relax, enjoy a cup of coffee or a drink from the bar. The cafe latte art was amazing! I didn't want to drink it! The bar carries over that speak easy vibe. Exceptional drinks! Hived Minded and Get Lucky were delicious! We didn't have food here, but next time we will.
The lighting in the bathroom could have been brighter.

Absolutely beautiful, phenomenal staff, clean room, extremely comfortable bed, and never ending supply of hot water (which was a bonus, as we expected it to “run out” like other hotels - and we were traveling with children, so it was a nice surprise to not have to worry about the hot water). On-site restaurant and bar offered very tasty meals. Also loved the refurbishment of a classic building; we need more of this.

After driving for 9 hours, I was just ready to relax and get some rest - and did I ever! First of all, hotel is gorgeous and right downtown. Parking was very easy, right across the street. Front desk manager was extremely professional, courteous and kind. Once I got to the room, I was even more impressed. Since I added my dog to the reservation, hotel staff provided a dog bed and food/water bowls. Never have I ever had a hotel do this before. Room service food was deliciously well. I got exactly what I was hoping for - a place to relax and rest for the day before driving to Chicago the next day.

Surety is a beautifully restored hotel with a great vibe and super nice staff. They took great care of me and my dog, Amy upgraded us to ensure we were in a very quiet room so my dog was relaxed. The rooms are large and nicely done, bed was perfect. I ate at the restaurant twice and was very impressed with the cocktails and locally sourced fish, veg and homemade pasta. It’s very close to Court Street and the nightlife. I will definitely stay again and highly recommend it!

Lovely restored hotel with a cool, modern vibe in downtown Des Moines. Right off Court St. district with tons of restaurants and fun Saturday Farmer's Market. We enjoyed the clean, comfortable rooms with modern amenities. The restaurant food was all delicious. Service was always on point. That it's very dog friendly and welcoming is a big bonus for those traveling with their pets.

A pleasant and modern vibe. Lovely lobby.
Being from California I found it shocking that nobody on the staff or the guests were wearing masks in the lobby and other common areas. Not even the elevator. During my stay the numbers of Covid cases was on the rise in Des Moines and the entire state of Iowa. This hotel is likely is a contributing factor although the entire state appeared to be in denial. I think hotels in particular have a heightened responsibility to keep its staff and guests safe. I would not stay here again as it makes me wonder how else do they not care about health and safety.

Staff was super friendly, patient, and accommodating to us. From the greeting in our car as we pulled up to the front desk staff to the bartender explaining the sequenced raccoon over the bar, everything was top notch and very well done.
Had to wait half an hour for a table for breakfast but it ended up working out. Just walked over to the farmers market and enjoyed a really good music group until the text message came in that our table was ready.

Unfortunately, we couldn't have breakfast in you hotel because you couldn't serve it for some reasons.
Nothing special, but it would be convenient for me to get a paper receipt when I checked out rather than receiving it by email. Email receipt is useful, but sometimes email doesn't come to me due to security assurances.

The Surety is a fantastic hotel, highly recommend! Super pet friendly - great lobby with food and drink and a DJ and they allowed our pet to be there. Great bed and shower, awesome view. Will be back.
Onsite parking garage is small, can't fit a full size pickup, so we needed to park offsite. Not a big deal though.

Room was gorgeous...perfect sleeping environment -- very clean and no noise from surrounding rooms or outside.
The room price was expensive; the bar had good service but the bartender could not make a decent cocktail.
