Tryp by Wyndham Panama Centro

This property has a great location! We were able to walk to many attractions and we could also take taxis to other locations. Our most expensive taxi was from the airport, which was $30.00. within Panama City, it ranged from $6.00 - $2.50. Everything was clean in the hotel. All the employees were super friendly and helpful. You can set up tours of the city with Iván, just ask the front desk to make a reservation for you! There is a bar within the hotel and they have a Happy Hour everyday!

This is not a complaint, but if you want breakfast it will cost extra. We enjoyed the breakfast the day we did eat. Just something to keep in mind. There are plenty of markets nearby to grab some food. A lot of restaurants too.

Although not ordinarily larger hotel and/or hotel chain fans the Tryp by Wyndham suited us perfectly for our time in Panama City. Spacious king room, views over the city skyline, attentive room service (though we had to ask daily at Reception for bottled water to be replaced). Fabulous sleep in the big king bed. Transport, restaurants and bars within walking distance.

A few simple things could amplify the Tryp experience! Coffee and tea served at breakfast need to be improved. Only mediocre pre brewed coffee included, extra charge for espresso etc. Which, incidentally was also mediocre, in Panama one would expect decent coffee. The water to prepare tea was tepid/luke warm, therefore, not hot enough to brew the tea. Breakfast is acceptable buffet style, personally not a fan of breakfast buffets (prefer quality over quantity). That being said it was adequate, stations were replenished and you could find something to suit from the options. Take it if it’s included in your room rate, otherwise put your $12 or so per person to better use. The pool area could use a little more seating and shaded areas.

Third stay. Great staff. Large room with nice fridge and a safe. Coffee maker in room with coffee and tea provided. Nice bathroom with walk-in shower and extra storage shelf on the vanity. Nice toilet tissue, shampoo and lotions. Good food in restaurant plus other establishments in walking distance, including fantastic Italian restaurant directly across the street. Pool and whirlpool with ample supply of towels and bar service.

There should be some type of soap holder in bathroom. Soap slides into sink. I didn't particularly like the coffee in this hotel; not at breakfast or in the room. I had mostly cold water in the shower this time; didn't happen on prior two visits. Definitely need more chaise lounge chairs on pool deck.

The room is spacious. Location is very convenient to transportation and restaurants

Complimentary water is only provided for one night. If I am paying for 3 nights why would you not provide it for the other days. How much would you save by not providing water for the other days. The courtesy would go a long way.

Great location and great service. We got a room upgrade to corner suite which was an amazing surprise. The suite had a living room and two full bathrooms! Christhy at the front desk suggested we do the San Blas islands tour and at $135 per person, it was another amazing surprise. Made our vacation more memorable indeed. The lobby restaurant has delicious seabass ceviche and burgers! TRYP is a hotel pick up point for the Panama Canal experience which is a must do on your visit!

They made us packed breakfasts for our early morning tours. The kitchen staff could have made sandwiches instead of the sad ham and cheese slices we got 2 days in a row...

We stayed only one night, just after we arrived in Panama. The first impression was excellent, as the location was easy to find, and free parking inside the building offered many free spaces. The room was clean and big enough, and the bathroom was clean. The next morning's breakfast was even more than we could expect. The variety of products (hot and cold), fruits, drinks - everything as it should be (or maybe even more). To underline our opinion, we looked hotel for our last day and night in Panama City and we wished to stay there, but unfortunately, it was fully booked :(

Helpful staff especially when left an item behind / changing money / and generally helpful. Rooms are large and functional. Hotel is next to a good laundry facility in center of town. Rooftop Pool is a bonus in the heat of the city. Beds are comfortable.

There are signs of poor maintenance and management all around. Attention to detail: clothes like in shower didn’t pull out / some power points without energy. Pool needs retiling properly (badly done). Feeling of neglect perhaps after the pandemic though as it’s a Wyndham property and I have stayed in a few here perhaps it’s time to for maintenance to at least take care of the small details that can help for a better experience..thanks! the value / night is good. Breakfast is a mixed bag work some fruit being overripe though other offerings above the norm (fresh passion fruit).

The hotel’s located in a good area with plenty of great restaurants and bars only a short walk away. The room was huge and very clean, with excellent air-con, which made all the difference considering the humidity of the city! Breakfast was ok, solid choices but nothing amazing. The rooftop has great views of the city but is a bit on the small side once a few guests are up there. The staff were also all very friendly and it wasn’t a problem storing my bag behind reception for 3 days whilst I was in San Blas.

It’s not a deal breaker but my room, on the third floor, was next to a storage cupboard so there was a lot of early morning noise from the cleaners.

We had a suite on the month floor which was very large, quiet, had a very comfortable bed and was excellent in all respects. The breakfast, which was included, was also excellent. And the location, close to a good selection of bars and restaurants, plus car hire offices, was perfect. All this for a very reasonable price.

A minor point, and it won't apply for ever, but during our stay in January 2023 you had to wear a mask when standing in the breakfast area as a Covid prevention measure. We have no problem with mask-wearing as such but you didn't have to wear one in any other part of the hotel, including the lobby (which is next to the open-plan cafe where you have breakfast) and the lift which is genuinely a confined space. This does seem ridiculous.

Neighborhood is safe but to be honest there is not much to do there....next time in Panama city l would prefer staying in Casco viejo. Communicación was a bit weired, l was notifying them that l would arrive 7 a.m., they wrote me back that it was no problem (l had paid for the night) but when l arrived they sent me a message that they had canceled my reservation due to no show...finally my room was available but this was not very professional. Wifi signal in the room was very unsteady and came on and off all the time..
