Hôtel Chromatics & Restaurant Hill Club

We stayed in our hotel and it was really nice to stay in a hotel. At first it may seem the opposite as the hotel is on the other side of the city center, behind the train station, but the area is quiet, we came back late and there was no problem with that. on arrival we asked for a deposit equal to the price of the room (in our case it was 70 €). The deposit can only be left with a card, and only with a physical card as Apple Pay does not work or at that time did not work. The deposit was returned within 2 days, as promised. We paid for the room in cash on check in. The room was clean enough, the bathroom was also clean. We asked for two twin beds and it was no problem for them. Also information for those who will be traveling in the winter, as our trip was in late December. The room wasn't super warm, but you won't freeze in it, I think around 20-22 C*. The radiator was hot, which made it easy to dry freshly washed clothes within a few hours. The hotel has a hot shower, but I would have liked it literally 2-3 degrees hotter, as you want to warm up your body after a cold street. I think this is a special temperature limitation, so that people are not fried, as in the washbasin water was very hot. And about the blankets, the blankets are very warm, you can safely sleep without clothes and you will be warm. Also, I had no problem opening the wine, really nice man on the reception helped me. We did not have breakfast at the hotel, so I can't comment on that.

Very good location, close to the public transport: tram, metro. Clean rooms and bathrooms, soundproof so you can't hear street noise despite having a bar right in front. The room had a central AC so it was pretty cool during the day and night despite a heat wave in July. A free water fountain to refill your bottle. Finally, a big thank you to the very nice and helpful girls in the morning-early afternoon shift!

The double room with twin beds is a bit small and there is no space for even very tiny night tables (yet, a wall shelf could be a good idea!). Our key cards didn't work well during our whole stay (5 nights) and we had to ask to change / recharge the card two or even three times a day (every time we wanted to enter the room)... Which meant going up and down from the reception to the room and back, not very pleasant when you're tired and sweaty and only wants to get to your room and have a cold shower! Finally, it turned out it was the lock that didn't work well and not the key cards... What else? Once the cleaning lady cleaned the room, took the used towels but forgot to bring new ones :-(

The restaurant and breakfast were great. Location is also very convenient. Easy to speak to reception on phone. They are always available. Cleaning service was efficient. Bath items are good value👍 staff at the bar Clare was very friendly. Staff who served the breakfast were helpful and forthcoming. We didnt have a kettle in the room so it was great that we could take hot water from the bar.❤️

It seems disrespectful.it is ok to sit when they Are Not serving the guest.. difficult to check in without deposit (I understand the procedure but it is not that easy for the guest when you have your flight cancelled, and had long exhausting journey and hotel says can't check in without deposit. I waited for an hour to check in) It was my fault as I didn't see info about deposit. if I saw info about deposit before booking, I would choose Accor hotels or would be prepared for this kind of situation.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. The whole hotel was clean and comfortable, bar always open for drinks and restaurant for meals which are reasonably priced. Breakfast buffet is excellent with lots of choice. The restaurant has a beautiful conservatory area with lots of windows, and in summer it must be nice to sit on the enclosed outdoor terrace. We were happy with the brunch at the weekend. The location is excellent and it’s easy to walk from here to anywhere in the city centre, often a scenic walk along the river bank. It’s also really close to Perrache station which is well connected for trains, trams and metro.

At breakfast there is only one drinks machine for everyone so there is always a queue for drinks. It would be really helpful to have a second drinks machine. But that’s really a small thing and everything else in this hotel is perfect!

Room is basic, large. There’s a big and comfortable bed. The location is good as close to the train station.

A general place to stay. We chose this chain of hotels and thought that the service and facilities are same around the whole chain, but it is not like this. In this hotel (compared the one in other city) no kettle, no tea & coffee, only one shampoo. Room looked old as there are some sockets don’t work. Also, I don’t like that for such a room they take deposit, and it’s not stated anywhere in the conditions of booking.

The hotel is comfortable and pleasant - located a five minute walk from Perrache station and on direct tram line from Part Dieu station. The room was small but comfortable and the breakfast has an excellent choice even for a vegan like myself. Staff were friendly and helpful. Despite the hotel being busy I wasn’t disturbed by noise.

Mattress in my room (127) was starting to sag a bit - needing to be renewed soon. If you are a woman (or well even a man) walking towards historic centre or Rhône embankments underneath Perrache is not cool. But the tram can whisk you past or you can go up through station.

The staff were very nice. It was in a handy location. It had a nice bar and you could also sit outside. My daughter in law dropped her bracelet in an Uber. Amazingly the driver brought it to the hotel after we had left and the hotel mailed it to the Netherlands. That’s a really positive indicator

Some electrical things did not work but we easily changed rooms. The rooms are being refurbished however. The power points were linked to the overhead lights in the first room which seemed rather stupid

We loved the decor and vibe of the hotel, it was fresh and inviting. Particularly downstairs, the restaurant section was trés cool, the kind of style you'd enjoy at a groovy bar. The breakfast was sensational, above and beyond by far the best we enjoyed compared with any other hotel across Europe (and we stayed at a lot!) We loved the WiFi chromecast streaming on the TV in our room and were able to relax while spending the night-in after a long drive from Paris. We chose to eat dinner in the Hotel Restaurant as the Google reviews and menu were stand-out for the area. The food was tasty and the staff are super friendly. While we had our own hire car, there was the option to utilise the Hotel's offsite parking for a fee but we managed to score a car park just outside as it was free from 7:00pm to 8:00am the next day. We only had to pay for an extra hour of parking. For a one-night stay, this was perfect and one of the best hotels we stayed in during our Europe road trip.

The rooms are a little small

make sure you have a physical credit card otherwise, althought you have paid in advance the room, they might let you out, as they threatened at my check in. After some strugglying finally they accepted a cash deposit (100 Euro), but that was quite an unpleasant start. Btw althought they don't trust guests but ask for a deposit, and only by physical credit card despite booking protection, then i had to insist to at least get a receipt stating i had to get back that deposit, because "I have to trust them", they said. Sounds a bit hilarious.

The restaurant is very good (both for breakfasts and for dinners). The staff is friendly, rooms are cleaned daily and the beds are amazing. The location is not so far away from the city center, however, it's better to use a car or taxi to get there.

No parking space next to the hotel is reserved for guests (despite the fact they are available). You have to pay an additional "deposit" of 1-night price (even if you are staying for one night) which is refunded (in case "everything is good" in the room) after you leave. It is taking quite a lot of time to refund money back.
