Torch Lite Inn at the Beach Boardwalk

pictures online are very accurate. side note: property was recently remodeled. location is perfect; the boardwalk is a 5 min walk away and downtown about 10 min. super clean room, I loved the color scheme and the wooden gray floors. sufficient toiletries and even toothpaste provided along with a disposable laundry bag which was a pleasant detail. my deposit was returned immediately. parking is free and surveillance covers every inch of the parking lot which gives peace of mind. the concierge was super helpful and amicable. 10/10 experience

the window pull down curtain was a little see through

The staff was friendly, the parking was easy,, and it was very easy to rent the room and check in, no problems whatsoever.

The TV channel selection was not very good at all, the channel guide didn't really work and it didn't show you what channel you were on. Most of the channels listed in the guide were not available. It's not a big deal really, but it could have been better. I'll probably bring my Roku next time. Maybe it was just the room we were in. My partner said the bed was uncomfortable, I think it was kind of stiff myself. Again, maybe it was just that one room.

Externally clean and updated. Parking was excellent. A 9 min walk fr the hotel door to the rides at the boardwalk. We timed it lol- and that’s w 2 tired kids, 7 & 9. First time straying fr our usual hotel (they were booked the last night of our weeklong stay and we ended up having to find a room last min and this hotel met our requirements). Also, literally a 1/3 of the price per night.

The fan in the shower/toilet was installed, but didn’t work or have a switch that we could locate? and we were more worried about condensation and future issues.

The location was great! Just a 10 minute walk to the Boardwalk and to Downtown. There was plenty of onsite parking. The hotel is getting (or had gotten) renovated and updated. The bed was super comfortable with plenty of pillows to choose from. The ac cooled the room off in no time.

Although it was not the hotel's issue, it was loud when guests would talk loudly and run in flip flops in the hallway during the morning. But it was quiet otherwise.

It was noisey outside the room as late at night as other guests were congregating in the communal outside decking area, it would be good maybe to post a sign there asking people to mind the amount of noise they make after 2200 for example!

Good location, 5 min walk to the Boardwalk with free parking. Decent sized quadruple room which was clean. Rooms had AC but wasnt really required. We stayed for 2 nights and found it nice and relaxing, little bit of road noise from cars from around 7am but heard much worse.

Parking limited we arrived at 18:30 and luckily got the last space. No pool (it's been filled in) but you will still see it mentioned on some adverts for the hotel. Also no breakfast anymore but we had read the review about this before booking.

Very close walk to the boardwalk, good for avoiding all those parking fees ! Super nice rooms as pictured, big bathroom with beautiful lighting. Complimentary coffee & snack was a lovely gesture.

Our fridge did not work so make sure you check before you decide to keep your room ! We were okay with it as we were only staying one night but its definitely something to look out for.

Good location and staff were accommodating. Rooms are quiet and comfortable and I stayed for 2 weeks total and will stay here again.

Guys smoking outside their doors and my place filling up with it. wasn’t tobacco and I was there trying to work. Also a lot of homeless in the area trying to get out of the rain and stay dry. Santa Cruz council should be helping them out more.

The room was very clean and had a microwave, mini fridge, small soaps/lotion, and a hairdryer. It also had cable on a giant screen. It felt very comfortable, and a great price for the convenience of location without it feeling like an icky motel. It is a short walk to the beach and nightlife/bars. The free on-site parking was useful too. Staff was friendly and let us park there for a few hours after we checked out.

The pool is being renovated and so it is closed, but it didn't really bother us - we were so close to the beach that we could just walk there. I think the toiletries were not very high quality but they were there.

The room was extremely clean. Bed a bit uncomfortable and pillow were a bit flat. Toilet seat was loose and hair dryer didn’t work luckily I have wash n go hair aka curly hair. There is no iron and ironing board and no closet. However, there was a dresser; desk; tv; microwave; small fridge. And the heater worked extremely well. I would definitely stay here again as it’s only about 2 blocks to the boardwalk.

For me the hair dryer didn’t work even after trying to set the reset button and plugging it into the other outlet. For the person traveling with me he would have preferred having an iron and ironing board.
