Beautiful converted convent with wonderful outdoor courtyards. Our room was comfortable and roomy, the beds divine. Staff was generally friendly and helpful, valet parking. Rooms line the courtyards, which are frequently used for events that can be noisy.
The hotel is quite expensive. The restaurant is as well, though several wonderful close-by restaurants offer comparable fare for more reasonable prices. One thing I found very disturbing was the charge for making coffee with the in-room coffee maker was $90 pesos (about $4.50 US)! And this in such a high-end hotel!

Hotel is really beautiful and an oasis of calm in crazy (but cool) Oaxaca. The pool was delightful and all staff lovely. We had dinner in the hotel one night and the food was really good. We had breakfast one morning which was good too (except the coffee was awful - go to Boulenc bakery for great coffee instead) and accompanied by live music which was a treat. The location is great for strolling around the town and we even got to spy ona guelaguetza performance in the hall attached to the hotel. The car valet service was useful (but expensive).
We paid quite a lot more for a "superior" family room but I wish we hadn't as it was still just one room with two double beds crammed in next to each other. Should have saved £150 a night and got the standard one. Breakfast wasn't included which also made it feel not great value for money, coffee wasn't good.

La Quinta Real was magical! The property is stunningly restored to its historic grandeur and the plant life is exceptional. The food is also great; we ate breakfast and lunch there and were not disappointed. Additionally, the hotel let us store our bags there overnight while we spent a night in the mountains, which was extremely convenient and appreciated. We both slept the soundest there out of any of the places we stayed in Mexico, and they gave us turn-down service (including chocolate)!
Nothing—everything was fantastic! I really don't have any complaints but Booking.com is asking me to add a couple of additional sentences so here we are!

The hotel is in a 500 year old complex of buildings that has been completely restored to serve as a modern hotel. Besides being a very beautiful facility, the staff were absolutely amazing. Each concierge we worked with was extremely professional and capable. They went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Restaurant and housekeeping staff were also very attentive to our needs. There is honestly not much about this hotel that I would want to change. Two thumbs up!

The buildings and courtyards were beautiful. The swimming pool and bar area was very attractive. The staff and service were very friendly and professional. The gym was bigger than most. Location was good.
Breakfast was not included. Only 2 small bottles of water in the room. The bathroom was very small and the room was quite dark (both features of being a converted convent). Very expensive compared to other luxury hotels e.g. in Puebla and Mexico City.

The property is absolutely gorgeous, carefully restored with attention to detail and comfort while retaining its history. The room was comfortable and well-appointed with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was spacious and quite charming. Excellent towels and sheets. Oh, and the pool is fabulous!
The size/ layout of the Superior King is a bit tight. There was not enough room to walk around the bed on the far side with my suitcase placed on the stand. Next time, I'll choose a larger room.

The pool was great. The food was delicious. The building is beautiful. The location is perfect.
This hotel is by far one of the most expensive places in Oaxaca City. It is beautiful but we stayed at places nearby that were just as beautiful and 1/4 of the price. Rent this place if you are going with older adults and want a more resort style experience.

The staff was very nice and helpful. The room was exceptionally clean with comfortable beds. The bathroom was very spacious, and shower was excellent. The hotel and surrounding grounds are just so beautiful, I enjoyed walking to and from my room to the courtyard restaurant where we had breakfast every morning. Quinta Real is located centrally in town and we walked to the restaurants for dinner ever night. You don’t have the chance to stay at an UNESCO registered building that often, so I certainly did not regret staying here for one second. It is an experience for sure :)
The property has a lot of (steep) stairs. One of my friends struggled with climbing the stairs every day. Staff will help you with luggage but if you have any physical problems, definitely request a room on the ground floor!

Our stay was perfect and the hotel was in the middle of Oaxaca which was convenient to reach any place of the city. The hotel is very well preserved and they have one night with traditional dances of Oaxaca. Definitely recommend to stay in this hotel.
Was expecting better service from the reception, seems they were not caring enough, the recommendations of the daily tours were as well overpriced.

Everything! The property is absolutely stunning and the service is top tier. The renovation of the convent is flawless and has an atmosphere that is breathtaking. For any travelers who have an appreciation for historical buildings, this hotel is a must. The staff was extremely accomodating and attentive, helping us make the most of our stay in Oaxaca City. I have traveled all over the world and for the price, this is probably one of the best hotel experiences I have had.
Having a partner that speaks fluent Spanish definitely helped when working with the staff. While most of them do speak or understand some English it definitely helps if you prepare yourself with some Spanish which is totally understandable since you are in the middle of a Spanish-speaking country.
