Best Western Hotel du Pont Wilson

We were very lucky as we got a free upgrade to a Junior Suite which was lovely. We had the best views from the hotel and could see the Rhone river, Hotel Dieu and the Basilica at the top of the hill (both looked great at night all lit up). Staff were exceptional, especially the concierge staff. We must mention Julien, Thomas and Lucas who were exceptional and were always there to serve our needs and provide invaluable information about the city. We must also mention Camilla who we spoke to on the telephone before our visit when organising our stay and she was extremely helpful and lovely on the telephone. We can't thank you all enough for making our stay in Lyon memorable. We would definitely use your hotel again and recommend to anyone going to the city.

Fridge/minibar was very small and not very cold even when turned up to maximum (though we did appreciate the ice from the concierges - thank you). No table on the balcony next to the two chairs. Bathroom and bedroom were a bit dark at night, could do with more lighting. The shower was great except no door so the floor in the bathroom got wet whenever we had a shower.

Fantastic location. Right next to the Rhone and close to the old town. Weekend mornings there is a small fruit and vegetable market across the road. Big bedrooms with huge comfortable beds (superior double). Reception staff super helpful and friendly. We left out car in the underground garage for extra time at no cost. Lyon is such a great city- will be back!

We didn’t have breakfast and are glad we didn’t pay the extra as didn’t look very interesting or inviting! Couldn’t find a way to turn of the light in the small entrance hall to the room Other than that it was great!

Location was my first priority as it is 100 m from the Liberte stop on Tram 1 so that getting from Gare de Lyon was a 1.90e ticket. getting on the tram due to building work was not fun. Hotel close to two bridges across the Rhone . it is in a nicely quiet and walkable area. Staff were uniformly obliging and pleasant and no request was too much. After some weeks of hotels with no it poorly working air conditioning the joy of cool air was overwhelming . and it had big opening windows. The room was of a high standard . Just around the corner in Rue Mazenod is Les Assembleurs wine bar restaurant. it is so good and reasonably priced with about 15 wines on tap that we went four times. It is that good.

We were upgraded to a suite, which wasn't expected, but it was a pleasant surprise. We had a terrace that overlooked the river and the Notre Dame. Convenient, quiet location. We would definitely book again.

Our AC leaked water onto the floor and carpet by the bathroom. It didn't bother us that much and luckily we had a few breezy cool evenings where we could open the balcony doors and the windows.

The stuff is exceptional! They were so kind and helpful. The location is fantastic! The room is clean, comfortable and quiet. There’s a parking available. The hotel stuff were our favorite part visiting Lyon. Always gave us the best recommendations for food and sightseeing . We also had some unexpected problems and the stuff helped us beyond expectations! Thank you! Don’t hesitate to book your staying here!

The position of the hotel was perfect to everything. The front river view room was large and spacious. Staff were very helpful.

The parking was a nightmare. Even though the hotel had parking it was difficult to get into the lift if not open. Reason being, u had to check in to get access , but no area to park before getting in narrow lift. Very tight turning area in carpark. The only negative.

The room was very nicely decorated and clean. I love that they gave complimentary water. The bathroom was very modern and clean, staff was nice and the bed was comfy.

Too much noise coming from outside. Drunk people screaming until 3AM and the window was letting cold air in for some reason despite looking pretty secure. Loved the towel heater and the location was excellent.

Great location ! Practically on the Rhone promenade. An easy walk from Place Bellecour without the access complications typical of properties in the central area, which was important as we were driving. A couple of very cheerful boys and girls at the reception desk did much to bridge the language gap.

Hand wash and body wash dispensers, while practical.solutioms in normal times, are not the best during COVID. Did appear to be penny pinching for a couple of euros saved on personal.toiletries.. Only one tiny lift for servicing ten floors. You may need to be very patient at breakfast hours, which also appeared to be the scheduled time for the routine housekeeping run. Overall, comfortable but not the best value for money

Location in the city—a 5 minute walk to the Rhone River, whose waterfront has been transformed into a pedestrian friendly promenade, and pont Wilson. About a 20 minute walk to Vieu Lyon. Lots happening in these areas. Breakfast in the hotel was good.

Parking garage is accessed from the street by a small freight elevator. The underground parking space is very tight and difficult to maneuver. Not all cars are allowed as a result. Our Peugeot 3008 just made it.

No milk in the room for tea and coffee Mini bar was expensive Duvet cover had a rip in it
