Mercure Lyon Centre Saxe Lafayette

A nice hotel in a good location - in a very quiet area and about 10 - 15 minute walk to main shopping/eating areas (over the river). Also about a 10 minute walk from Westfield shopping centre. 15 minute walk from Foch metro so easy to get too from the aiport using public transport. Room was a REALLY good size and was very clean and modern. Bed was super comfortable. When we were in Lyon the temperature peaked at 41degrees.......the air con in the room worked well and was very welcome! Breakfast was good and there was a lot of choice. Bathroom a good size and shower was lovely and warm! Staff also very friendly. Lyon is jusy lovely.

Very clean hotel with small but adequate pool and workout space. We got there early and the lady at reception was great getting our bags stored.

Location is decent…. About 1/2 mile walk to the main part of town. But easy access to tram/ bus and subway. Some staff just ok…. When we asked if the gentleman at the desk could call one restaurant for a reservation since we didn’t have international calling on our cell ( waste for $10 for one call)…. He essentially refused.

Brilliant central location for the Fête des Lumières. We had a family room with two double beds and it was very spacious. The breakfast was one of the best I’ve ever had at a hotel and worth including in your stay. Everything was very clean. We mostly walked everywhere but the hotel is well located for tram and metro. Will definitely stay again!

Not a negative for me as I didn’t plan on swimming but if you’re attracted by the pool it’s worth mentioning that it is very small and not appropriate for swimming lengths. Great for kids though.

Absolutely amazing stay at the Mercure Saxe Lafayette - the staff were very helpful and the facilities and rooms were excellent (just wish the pool was a bit bigger). Other than that, I can’t fault it - and the breakfast spread was amazing, so much choice and in a gorgeous restaurant! The hotel is brilliantly located, a 5 minute walk from the river Rhone and very close to 2nd Arrondissement where all the shops and restaurants are - I will be coming back to Lyon and would recommend the Mercure Saxe Lafayette to EVERYBODY :)

The swimming pool could be bigger and would be good to have some weights in the gym instead of just cardio machine, but that is quite minor on the whole compared to the rest of my amazing stay here

Location was very good, easy to access by car and there’s a parking place in front of the hotel, valet parking service was available which was so comfortable. Staffs were very friendly and helpful. No worries at all. After checking out, we wanted to go to have lunch, so we asked the staff if we could leave our luggage with them, and when we returned to the hotel, they had already put our car out in front of the hotel, which was very touching.

It’s a few minutes walk from the main Lyon Part Dieu Train Station. Overall location is pretty central.Westfield Shopping Centre is next to the Station so a bonus. Breakfast is top notch! The whole team was friendly and accommodating.Classic overall retro decor was a cool touch!

We noticed there’s no heated towel rack, the bathroom exhaust fan I think is broken, the bedroom door doesn’t soft close. You have to hold it for it to close gently. No option to have most or some of the English TV programs translated to English.

Breakfast was amazing. The breakfast spread was very extensive and everything I tried was delicious. There were even a lot of vegetarian and vegan options too! The free water dispensers on every floor was a very pleasant surprise, especially since my wife loves sparkling water and we both try to be as friendly to the environment as possible. Kudos to this hotel for shifting away from disposable plastic! The beds were comfy too.

This hotel & location 100% suited our requirements. The room was large & spacious for 3 guests. A good supply of mirrors - essential for teenegers!! The bathroom was a nice size, good shower pressure & lovely shower products. The breakfast was a delight - my favourite meal of the day. So much choice - juice, cereals, yoghurt, fruit, ham, cheese, hot food (sausages, bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tomato, fried potatoes), toast, breads, pastries, pancakes, waffles, & cakes. A coffee machine that produced so many coffee options & also hot chocolate. Such a good start to the day. A lovely swimming pool also in the hotel - which we did use early one morning. Location - so near the river, about 10 mins to Bellecour, not far from Westfield shopping centre. The city has an excellent Tram & Metro network for reaching all the tourist sites. May never be back in Lyon but would definitely recommend the hotel as a lovely place to stay.

It is very convenient stay next to a ‘Super U express’. Just 2min walk from the lobby. Can’t complain with a nice network of food around. And the famous local Lyon restaurant just round the corner behind the hotel. The pool was a little dirty during our stay. Apparently not cleaned frequently. However, we spent quality and feel safer by not sharing the pool. The guests were kind enough to take turn to use it. Each time we spent 10-15minutes before the next person. Worth mentioning the chic design and decorations at the lobby.

Staff was not very kind to young children of 10-13 years old. They yelled at them for a ‘pass sanitaire’ before they could enter even the lobby. It was astonished to see a French gentleman trying to be a police inside a hotel. Shame on him. Customer service should be at any level despite age. Overall, not too friendly staff. Lack of basic manners upon entering the lobby. Sound isolation of the room can be improved. We could hear children next door running, shouting and jumping on the beds at 10pm. We are family with babies. It was disturbing.

Great place to base ourselves in Lyon! It’s situated in a quieter area of Lyon so it’s nice to enjoy the hustle and bustle across the rivers and then return to a peaceful accommodation. The staff are very friendly and had great communication before and after our stay.
