Hôtel République

Excellent hotel away from the hustle and bustle of the city center. Still easy to access from the central market on foot. The room was clean and despite the lack of a fan very cool in the night - private and isolated as it was ( located on the ground floor outside the main hotel building). Lots of dining possibilities nearby and a kind hostess. Breakfast is exclusive of room prices ( 9,5 eur) if you go for it. Comfortable bed and good temperature even in the scorching summer.

Location was great, 5-10 minutes to the "heart of Dijon". Staff was GREAT (their attitude has increased the overall impression (and evaluation) with at least 2 points). Breakfast was good (again, the presence of the staff improved the overall impression) - it was more than I expected in a 2 stars hotel, probably at the level of a medium 3 stars. Room (room 2) was small (as expected), a bit dark. Bathroom was small and really not new (agein, somehow as expected). The problem came from the lack of air conditioning (expected) associated with ground floor- towards the street window (unexpected (sometimes loud) noises until very late in the night while it was too hot not to open the window). The small inner garden was nice. Underground parking was easy to reach and not expensive.

The owner was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. He gave us great advice on what we could do on the evening of our arrival and where were the best places to have dinner. Breakfast was pretty good, with even a fresh croissant. Next to that the hotel is situated in a quiet street only a good 5 minutes walking from the heart of the center.

The only slight downside was the size of the bathroom. It was really small and for a guy my size (1,85m and around 100kg) somewhat of a challenge to fit and get everything done without getting stuck, bumping into something or making everything wet.

It is a small family-owned hotel, managed by a very nice couple - both were friendly, accommodating, helpful, peaking good English. And we lived in a property that represents Dijon's history and culture! Very quiet area, only 15-minutes walk to station, main attractions. Excellent room service. We loved it and were happy with the rate.

I do not think there is anything I would complain about.

The hotel is older but it is very well maintained. We were lucky to have a room facing the courtyard not the street. Hotel is ideally situated for buses , trams to the station and entry to the old town. Breakfast for 9€ was fabulous and very worth it. Owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. They were super flexible and allowed us to take the room early when it was ready. They provided a fan and as it was very hot it was a godsend.

We have stayed at the Hotel République 3 times before. We come back as it suits us perfectly. Great place to stop off either going to, or coming back from holiday. Room is simple but comfortable. Good Air Con, Very Clean, shower good again. Comfy bed. Location is in the centre of Dijon and restaurants are 5 mins or less away. The husband and wife team who own the hotel could not be more helpful. Parking is directly outside.

Hotel was easy to find with SatNav. The staff were warm welcoming and helpful. The hotel is brilliantly located to see the sights of Dijon. Everything was in very close walking distance. We were travelling as a family of 5 and just staying 1 night whilst travelling. We had an enormous room with 3 single beds and one double. It was all clean and well maintained. The room was hot but staff installed extra fans that worked really well. Only my eldest teen struggled to sleep. The mattress could be a little better but otherwise everything was perfect and we really loved this hotel and would definitely stay again and spend more time in Dijon.

The mattresses could do with an upgrade. The property is older and beautiful but doesn't allow for aircon but we were cool enough with the huge fans supplied.

Was met by the very friendly host and shown the parking area. We had the family room which is located in the attic. The hotel is in a very good central position, great for Dijon old town. Breakfast was great. Host is friend and informative, with knowledge of the city.

The hotel is a very old building and in the attic room all the fabulous old timberwork can be seen. There is no view however, with only roof windows. The bathroom, especially the shower is a little hard to use due to the slanted roof. Access to the upper floor could be difficult for those with mobility issues as the staircase is narrow and steep. Beware that the door opens out on to the staircase, so make sure no one is on the stairs as there is the potential to knock them over. The decor in the staircase and in the room could be freshened up.

The hosts were very kind and gave tips for a nice visit in the city!

The only thing was the unavailabe parking due to the late arrival! Luckly, we found parking just outside on the Street. The rest was perfect!

The Hotel Republique is a wonderful, small well situated family run hotel. It's not a modern hotel with lots of pulls and high speed Internet but that is not what we were looking for. The Republique offers gracious hospitality, a good night's sleep, spacious rooms and really well situated for the centre of Dijon. It is the only stay we replicate each year traveling south to Cannes.
