Hôtel Madame

The location was amazing, the majority of the city was within walking distance. A taxi from the airport was around €40 although there was the option to catch a bus too for much cheaper. The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, advising us of things to see and restaurant recommendations too. The rooms were very clean and the beds very comfortable. The Breakfast deal at a neighbouring restaurant was delicious and you got so much for €13. Our return flight wasn't until 11pm and we were able to leave our bags after check in for the whole day, free of charge.

The rooms were on the smaller side but in a central city location in an older, traditional building, you wouldn't expect anything else. The building was full of charm, and we noted the sweet detail of each of the rooms being dedicated to significant women in history. They were perfect for us, we booked 2x doubles for 4 friends to stay.

We really enjoyed our time here. The owners and staff went out of their way to help us make the most out of our stay. We stayed 12 nights and really got to see a lot of Bordeaux. The owners helped us with directions, restaurants to eat at, places to visit, alternate methods of transport, acquisition of taxies and storage of luggage. They always had a smile on their faces and gave us help with the language.

As it is an older style building, there is no air-conditioning but the room was equiped with a Dyson air circulating fan which was most welcome.

Great location and super friendly staff. I left my luggage in the left luggage room, as I arrived too early. They then messaged me in the afternoon that room was ready and placed the luggage in the room. What great service

This is sold as an eco hotel, so no air conditioning. If it’s very hot this could be an issue, as there is an open bar down stairs in the summer, which closer after 11:00, so opening a window may not work. However, I would be happy to go back as this is a first world issue.

To be honest did struggle to get to hotel by car. Eventually phoned to seek help and realised we were just down the road. The owner, who was amazing, came down picked up our luggage and she gave us clear directions how to get to the public car park as no parking at the hotel. It did not help that major roadworks going on in Bordeaux. The UK could learn from the traffic systems by the way. The owners had only been there for a year so am sure still developing the facility but were extremely friendly and helpful showing us on maps were to go to eat etc. I have to say they are natural hoteliers and made everyone who came to their hotel feel very at ease. As we booked in they made sure we were ok and provided water as it was quite warm . This hotel is absolutely perfectly placed to pop out to see Bordeaux and what a beautiful city it is too. Obviously popular with tourists so there are many places which seem to cater for the UK tourist. We tried to avoid these and find traditional French eateries. Sea food is to die for. The hotel is very comfortable but does not have AC so rely on ceiling fans and mobile ones too. They are purposely looking towards earning green points, so it was slightly warm in the room but manageable. Overall we could not have asked for more. Oh and there is a mini bar, kettle and pod coffee maker.

Nothing other than no parking but this hotel is in the center of the city.

The staff here are truly wonderful, the most helpful and kindest hosts we have ever encountered. Nothing was too much trouble. Recommendations on eateries, organising taxis, and even advice on places we were going to next - just wonderful. The hotel is beautiful and boutique. It's location is the best, great for walking around the city, easy to get to the lovely old town too (our favourite part!). It was quiet too, despite it being the rugby World Cup! The room was fantastic and just right for what we needed. The price was fantastic also, an incredible bargain for a place like this. We would love to stay here again!

It was unseasonably hot, and so inevitably the room was hot, making sleeping a little difficult, but this was just one of our nights. A more powerful fan would be great - I absolutely support the eco credentials and reasoning behind no a/c.

Location is excellent. The owners and staff were so helpful and friendly, they always offered recommendations/tips. Little touches made all the difference (they took our bags to our room and hung our jackets up, complimentary coffee pods, room was always tidied).

Similar to reviews we read before we stayed, the walls are very thin. The bed was comfortable, but every turn made the frame creak. I really didn't like that we had to leave keys at the hotel. The room keys are in full view hanging up in reception, so nothing stopping anyone from the street walking in and asking for 'their' room key. Expecially when we returned one evening and the man at reception was asleep...

From the moment we arrived at Hotel Madame, we were greeted with a very warm welcome from Amelia. I've been learning French (still very much to learn), so it was very helpful that her English was excellent. We had no real plans as we were only in Bordeaux for 1 night, but she recommended the Heritage trail by foot (map provided), which we loved. You take in so many areas and sights of this beautiful city. I highly recommend. The hotel itself is located centrally by the Place Gambetta and Port Dijeaux. A beautiful building within easy walk of restaurants, tram and shopping. The boutique feel and theme of the hotel suited us perfectly. It was wonderful to see woman being celebrated. Very high quality finish and interior, coffee machines and mini bar. 24 hour reception was a real bonus. We would return in a heartbeat.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and although our French speaking was not good, the staff made us feel very welcome. The hotel was located next to bistros and shopping and easy to get around by walking. The room was cozy and clean, with large windows that opened up the space.

The location was a bit on the tricky side to get to with a rental car because the streets in that area are zoned for walking, however, we got if figured out with the help of the hotel staff and had offsite parking, which was less than a two minute walk. Next time I would use public transportation to get around Bordeaux.

Now we know where to stay, when we return to Bordeaux - Hotel Madame. Wonderful, little hotel with lots of charm and atmosphere. The staff, Amelia, Adrian and Co. are so friendly and helpful, so your are in really good hands. Room is so nice - colours, decoration, bed, bathroom, refrigiator - everythings perfect. You look forward to come home to a room like this. Location is right in the centro of Bordeaux, with all you need - attractions, shopping, bars, cafés and restaurants - just around the corner. As you probably know by now - a hotel we highly recommend.

Fantastic iconic location in the heart of the city, perfect for exploring. Rooms designed beautifully and staff super friendly and helpful. We liked the set-up for breakfast, at the brasserie next door. Bed was comfortable.

We were travelling during hot weather so the lack of a/c meant the room was hot for sleeping despite the fan provided and with the windows open, and due to the location there was a lot of street noise until very late and in the early hours, which meant for disturbed sleep. But that is what you expect for a city location in a busy area.
