Hotel Gambetta

Very helpful staff who answered our questions without any issues and were very accommodating. Water facilities for topping up bottled water especially as we were visiting during a heatwave. Very comfortable beds and extremely soundproof rooms so no problems getting to sleep at night. Very central location in Bordeaux and easy to get to.

Quite narrow corridors and when we first checked in mid afternoon we had to be very careful not to trip over the cleaning equipment including the vacuum cleaner plugged in an outlet in the corridor.

The staff were so lovely and helpful. Location couldn't have been better, in the heart of Bordeaux. Room was good value for what we paid and they offer a lovely continental breakfast.

The hotel has a policy that we leave our room cards at reception when we leave the hotel. This raised a bit of security risk, particularly if we returned and there was a different person on the desk than when we left. No one was required to prove anything beyond saying their room number on arrival. An odd policy, one I think they could tighten to help guests feel secure.

Very clean hotel in a busy part of town. There's a lot of restaurants and shopping near by and the staff were really friendly. Breakfast being included was a big plus.

You have to leave the room key at the front desk which meant returning to the hotel a few times had no one at the desk. Had to ring the bell and wait for someone to arrive to get my room key multiple times. It wasn't a problem for me but you might want to bring ear plugs since it sits on a busy pedestrian street. Location is pretty far from the train station (30 min walk)

This hotel is right inside Bordeaux’s historical centre, which is an enormous advantage, as you step outside the hotel and right into the sights (the cathedral and Pey Berland tower are about 4 min away on foot). If you are the all-day-sightseeing type, it’s a great choice, as you may pop in for a short break between sightseeing sessions. Rooms clean, quiet, heating in winter, very good breakfast. Only minor issue, the lift doesn’t take you to all floors, you may need to go up a few steps to your room. Parking very close by (paid but reasonably priced – there’s an agreement with the hotel). Polite and helpful reception. Overall, very good value.

Hotel is in the centre of town. The reception staff were excellent, helping with directions about car parking, places to eat, things to see, and getting about the town. Breakfast was buffet style and very good. Fresh food and varied range of things to eat. Beds were comfortable, the bathroom was small but we had everything we needed.

The hotel room wasn't air conditioned. We did have a fan which helped to keep the room cool.

Hotel Gambetta is super located, in the centre of Bordeaux with many shops and restaurants. It is rated 2 stars, but the value is excellent. Breakfast is nice and the room is comfortable and clean

Nothing part the noise in the morning when suppliers come to the street. Unfortunately, trucks are noisy, and they arrive eraly in the morning. If you do not want to be disturbed, ask for a backyard rooms

Great location, within easy walking distance of the old town and sights. Good breakfast. Reception staff had working knowledge of English language to work out what we wanted to know, along with the Google-Translate app...

A/C would have been nice as it was REALLY hot when we were there, but the ceiling fan was a life-saver. Quite noisy on the Friday night with party-people talking, shouting, singing at all hours, but once the doors were closed, that silenced them.

The location is very central, with a tram stop just around the corner, and I was warmly welcomed by Ahcène on reception (even though he was also dealing with an IT technician at the time!) who offered me a quiet room facing away from the street and later recommended a nearby pizza restaurant. The hotel is nicely decorated and my room was a decent size, bright, very clean and comfortable. After an excellent night's sleep I enjoyed a typical French breakfast with plenty of choice.

The lift isn't all that useful - it's approached via a back room at reception and stops at all the half-landings, meaning that to reach most rooms one still needs to negotiate a few steps. But Ahcène accompanied me to my room and was quick to help by carrying my suitcase so I really can't complain !

Excellent location. Very friendly staff. Comfortable bed and clean room and spaces. When booking, people with difficulties in climbing stairs should be aware that to reach the lift from the entrance/reception you need to climb to the first floor and actually for the third and fourth floor you should climb again as the lift stops between second and third.

The location of the hotel is ideal because it is right in the centre of the city next to almost everything. The room with a view to the city is a little bit noisy but nothing to bother you. The personnel is very friendly and helpful more than average. Definitely a choice for next visit.
