Hotel Chagnot

Room was smaller,more compact than expected. Room was front facing onto the entrance for Lille Flandres station only a 100 meters away. The weather was warm so the windows were open which allowed for the hearing of traffic and people noise. But when closed the outside noise was reduced considerably. Excellent location - less than 10 minutes from Eurostar station with a smooth walkway. Breakfast good value with no need to leave the hotel for petit dejeuner.

The bed was no problem. But at the next refurb look for a bed base where one can slide a suitcase beneath. Storage is minimal. Room ideal for an overnight - space to hang trousers,shirt limited. But we were there for 5 nights so it was a case of living out of ther proverbial suitcase.

It is located on the edge of the central concours in front of the Flanders railway station within easy reach of the major city attractions and the Eurostar commercial area. Our rooms were quiet, clean and spacious . A major upside was the roof terrace breakfast. This had a good selection with the option to sit outside, looking down on the town, especially the crowds arriving for the Braderie. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. After checkout, it proved no problem to leave our luggage for a leisurely last walk around the city.

The toilet/shower rooms were fairly cramped. No bedside table. Only paper cups in the room. Not a pleasant view over the rear courtyard.

Superb location literally across the road from Lille-Flanders. Multiple restaurants just outside and many more within 5 minute walk. Central to all the major attractions, Lille-vieux, Cathedral - Natural history, Art museum, - Zoo, fun park, you can set off in a different direction every day and experience something new. Staff were very friendly and breakfast balcony was amazing. Television in room for when you need a rest. I was at the back of building, no outside noise, but no view.

No restaurant on site, would have been nice for a balcony dinner! The room was quite small, as a lone traveler was no issue for me, not sure ide want to share though. Shower cubicle bit of a squeeze.

Staff were very friendly and chatty. They could share a joke and I discovered as we left could speak English just as well as French. Breakfast room was a pleawhich was quite unsettluingsant terrace overlooking the city and breakfast was notablke for its excellent croissants. Location was perfect for lookibg round the city centre and for eating and drinking with many bars and inexpensive restaurants accross the road. Horel was 10 minutes walk from main railway station, (where we arrived) and even closer to the local railway and metro stations.

There was only one lift which became constrained at times. The town centre had groups of police wandering around in threes armed with sub-machine guns which was quite unsettling.

I loved this hotel. The location is perfect if you are arriving by train, which we were, as it is directly opposite the main entrance to Lille Flanders station. I had asked in advance for a room with a balcony and it was granted - it was fabulous and there was also a separate balcony literally directly off the shower! The staff were friendly and efficient and spoke good English. There was also a lift, which is a bonus. The room was a good size and had a kettle and coffee/tea facilities, which is unusual for European hotels. There are lockers available if you wish to store luggage, after you have checked out.

There was nothing not to like, it was all good.

Perfect location opposite the beautiful old Lilles-Flandres train station. Lovely view of the station from our room. Short walk (5 mins) into the histotic & shopping centre and plenty of places to eat nearby. The staff were welcoming and professional. The room was very clean and comfortable and included a kettle for making a hot drink. We had an early start so didn't try breakfast.

The room was overheated so we slept badly. We only discovered the following morning that the heater was set to maximum. It has an individual control on the heater itself so check the setting before you retire for the night! The bed was a bit too firm for me. For stays longer than 1-2 nights, the room would be on the small side.

Brilliant location, 2 minute walk from centre of town and the sights etc, right outside Flandres station just 5 min walk to Europe station. Lots of bars and restaurants outside / nearby. Rooftop terrace for breakfast. Room was good size, bed comfy, decent shower. We turned up 3 hours early to drop off cases and room was ready so they let us book in at no extra charge. We will definitely come here again the next time we're in Lille.

It's a pity the rooftop terrace can't be used as a bar in the evenings but that's not a criticism more an observation.

Helpful 24/7 front desk at all times. You do need to buzz in after hours hence extra security. The hotel is DIRECTLY in front of the train station hence unmatched convenience in that aspect with easy access to intra and inter city transport. Multitude of food options nearby. Attractions are also a stone's throw away. Wifi is great (mostly) The room is quite well sized and comfy while equipped with central heater. Bathroom amenities include shampoo/ conditioner and soap. OK housekeeping and cleanliness.

Slightly pricy in view of the excellent location

The hotel was very clean and fairly modern rooms, the room was on the sixth floor looking out onto the Square/Train station. Seems that our room was 1 of 2 that only have balcony’s on the front of the hotel. With table and two chairs on it. So super plus point. Also we had a balcony from our bathroom. Couldn’t comment on the breakfast At an extra cost of 11 euros I think. We wanted to try different places each day for breakfast. Overall great location, clean rooms, and under £60 a night was a perfect stay

Nothing to complain about

Lovely staff. Personally, the young guy who settled us. All our wishes were taken into account. The wheelchair accessible room is large and comfortable. A stone's throw from the train station. The city center and shopping center are close. Our windows looked out into the courtyard and it was quiet

It was a little stuffy in the room. We tried to open the window, but then it smelled like the kitchen of the restaurant, which is located in this building. Because the hood went out into the courtyard of the hotel. Perhaps the smell is not felt on the higher floors.
