Hotel De La Paix

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Most of them spoke some English. They all made us feel very welcome.

Unfortunately there weren't any tea & coffee making facilities. It wasn't until the day we left that we found you could order tea and coffee to your room. On our first night we were invaded by mosquitoes! There were so many of them and they were still bothering us late into the night. We had to ask reception to bring up some fly spray in order for us to get rid of them & get some sleep. The room was smaller than we expected. However it was very clean and housekeeping tidied it every day.

Lovely quaint little hotel with very French feel about it. In a perfect location, being just a 2 minute walk to the beautiful Grand Place with its many eateries. Bed very comfortable, nice big bathroom with good shower. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay there again.

The mini bar had been removed from the room. We never purchase from a mini bar but do like to keep milk in a fridge for tea. Just a warning to keep windows closed as despite there being nets inside and out we were visited by mosquitoes in the night. This isn’t the fault of the hotel - I think it’s a general problem in the area and they did leave insect spray in the room.

A small French hotel in a central location in Lille, full of character and charm. Beautifully decorated. Traditional breakfast and friendly staff. Small but comfortable room.

Be aware that the hotel is located on a pedestrianised street and there is no parking. The hotel recommends a secure car park which is a 5 minute walk away so, very convenient but even with a discount offered by the hotel, it is quite expensive and this adds to the cost of your stay. Be warned that it was also a struggle to find the hotel even with 2 satnavs!

Perfect location near the heart of Lille - Place General De Gaulle, plenty restaurants and shopping nearby, the key attractions are within walking distance, 10 minutes walk to the rail stations, good space room, very quiet, comfi bed, toilet separated from the bathroom with 2 doors, spacious bathroom with sufficient shelves, art nouveau vibe, helpful receptionists, elevator. Adaptors and chargers are available from reception.

There is no electricity socket near the bed. The nice receptionist organized for me an extension cable. There is no kettle in the room but reception provided us with a thermos with hot water and mugs.

Super friendly place in a building with soul and little winding corridors. The location in the old town is perfect, and the hotel feel with wooden doors and carpets in an old-town building is in sync with the old-town feel of Vieux Lille. The comfortable rooms had splendid beds and a sizeable bathtub (!) The included breakfast was generous, albeit rather carb-based.

No air-con during the heat-wave was sub-optimal, but still manageable as a natural draft between open windows towards the shadowy inner yard helped. The open window did let enter a mosquito which bit me on the foot. :/

Tons of character in this well kept historic house just off the Grand Place. Each room seems to have its own artist theme- ours was huge for the price- we even had a decent bath tub. There's an Alphonse Mucha inspired breakfast room and we had a Matisse collection on the spacious landing outside our room with appropriate chaise longue. Staff were all helpful, especially the Maitre D on reception who tolerated our ropey French with good humour and looked after our bags after checkout so we could enjoy more of lovely Vieux Lille before our Eurostar 5 minutes walk away.

Keep the window closed in July! Lille must be world champion at growing mosquitoes- Ouch! There's no air con, so if you catch a heatwave on your trip you may have to choose between no ventilation or agony!

Perfect in every way for our weekend trip to Lille. The lady who checked us in was so welcoming and extremely helpful. All 3 reception staff we saw over the weekend were all friendly. Loved the hotel decor and ambience. Extremely quiet at night despite being in a very central and such a convenient location to everywhere that we wanted to visit in Lille. 100% would recommend this hotel to anyone and we certainly will be staying here again. Thanks a million to all the staff for making our stay so lovely in this classy boutique hotel!

Absolutely nothing!

Continental breakfast was lovely with yoghurt, fruit, cereal, fresh bread and jams and pastries. A choice of tea or coffee all served by very pleasant and helpful staff. Bedroom was spotlessly clean and spacious with a separate en-suite all very roomy. Hotel was very central with only a few minutes walk to the main square. Would definitely book this hotel again if I took a trip to Lille.

Would have liked a kettle and tea or coffee facility in the bedroom. But apart from that I couldn’t fault this hotel.

Old building that has been recently renovated, generally it has been nicely done, has character. Check in was super fast and welcoming. Location is great. We had a lovely dinner in the Bleu Canard restaurant right opposite the hotel, but masses of other restaurants and bars all around the hotel.

Room was compact. Bathrooms need to be modernized. Elevator was small. Breakfast was included in our room rate, but you had to pay extra for eggs. The hotel has a bar, but it was closed.

Excellent location. We stayed in a standard double room. It was a decent size, very clean and everything worked perfectly. It was quiet and comfortable. The bed was a superb quality along with the linen and pillows. Would definitely recommend and would stay again.

A little more choiice for breakfast would have made the stay perfect.
