Clos de Bellefontaine B&B0

This was our favorite accommodation in France on this trip. The room was large and every detail of the B & B was carefully attended to by Carole, our gracious host. The location is very good, a short walk from the center of town. The yard and landscaping were lovely. The breakfasts were large and fresh and kept us going until dinner. Carole was very enthusiastic and helpful with our vacation planning. A highly recommended accommodation!

Nothing really. It was a little hard to find using navigation.

Carole goes out of her way to make guests feel at home. She provided everything we needed to take advantage of all Bayeau has to offer. Dinner at Le Pommier, a restaurant Carole recommended was superb. And, breakfast with fresh eggs from Carole's hens along with homemade jams and apple cake, local cheeses, yogurts, fresh fruit, and much more made for a delightful way to end our stay.

We only wish that we were staying in Bayeau for more than one night so that we could have enjoyed Carole's B&B for a longer period of time.

A very attractive guest house with lovely gardens and a superb host who had so much information for us, particularly to guide us with our tour of the D-Day landing sites. The sitting room was very comfortable and we enjoyed complementary aperitifs. Some cute pets on site. Breakfast was amazing - but just too much to eat.

Our room had a bath and only a hand held showers nozzle - without a stand to fix it on. The room was small and floors very creaky

This is a beautifully decorated and charming house, located within a very short distance of town-centre attractions, such as the Tapestry Museum and Cathedral. It stands in an oasis-like and amazingly quiet garden. Carole provides a great breakfast, with a wide variety of jams and other goodies, mostly home-made. We couldn't recommend Clos de Bellefontaine more highly.

Nothing that we could think of. We even enjoyed watching the robotic lawn mower!

Initially it was a bit hard to find but once we did the location proved to be great for access to the train station and downtown. The breakfasts were delightful and "French" with crepes, fantastic bread and croissants, coffee, tea, cheese, and other delectables. The backyard was pleasant with a patio and hedges around.

The important thing for a new visitor is to understand the easy walking route to the B&B. Once you understand it, the walk is easy, even with luggage. The taxis and others do NOT seem to know when Clos de Bellefontaine is and you could be directed to the main hotel of that name. Stop in at the information area and obtain a local map. CDB is #1 on the map.

Our stay was simply superb! First of all the house has been wonderfully restored and maintains many period features - is comfy and welcoming and a convenient base for a short walk into the centre. Our host was genuinely passionate about the area and what it has to offer for visitors, providing us with an array of information and guidance and more than happy to discuss or answer any questions we had. The breakfast continues the theme, with an array of delights to eat, different each day, beautifully presented, and in many cases celebrating local produce and home made dishes and accompaniments such as the various jams - which were a delight. All in all this is a wonderful and highly recommended location to stay, offering a calm, comfy and stylish base for any visitor.

If you want a truly French experience with an exceptional host, Clos de Bellefontaine is definitely the place to stay. This gorgeous Maison de Maitre is hidden behind a gate and walled garden and truly like a little oasis with the most delightful gardens brimming over with blooming lilac during our stay. Everything from the beautiful wooden, winding staircase, and stylish decoration, the house has been sympathetically and beautifully restored and is a comfortable, warm and welcoming place to stay. Best of all, Carole is a first class host. Nothing is too much trouble for her! She will make sure that you start your day with an incredible breakfast feast and will happily book restaurants for you and give you many ideas and suggestions as to what to see and do in the area. (You don't need to go to the Tourist Information office!) The final bonus is that it's only a few minutes walk into the gorgeous town of Bayeux and all that has to offer in the way of sightseeing and gastronomy. The internet is very slow.

Carole the host was fantastic. The location is close to everything in town, and Carole gave us some good tips on where to go. The breakfast was 5 stars. Cleanliness was fantastic and towels were changed when needed.Great place to stay if you go to Bayuex.

It was a bit hot when we stayed, (bit of a heatwave), so aircon would have been good, but the fan kept us cool enough.

The Breakfast each morning was delicious. Every day Carole varied it and cooked some delicious fruit based dishes. Her homemade preserves were also excellent. The bread and croissants were fresh daily. There was a huge variety of teas available. You could also make a hot drink if so required at other times of the day in the lounge. Carole was a wonderful host and made us very welcome. We really appreciated the advice on local restaurants and the DDay landing sites. She is very knowledgeable and speaks good English.

Such a unique place and loved that our room overlooked the garden area. The breakfast every morning was so wonderful! Carol made our stay so nice by offering up ideas of places to go and places to eat in town. Our room and bathroom was cleaned every day! Wasn’t expecting that! Wonderful experience!

The bathtub was kind of narrow but not a big deal.
