Churchill Hotel Bayeux Centre

I wanted a hotel in Bayeux for my family (7 adults) that was convenient to all the attractions in the town. The Churchill website does not do justice to the hotel, the rooms were terrific (we had 4 rooms), and the Staff were absolutely fantastic. I speak French but my family does not, it was never an issue. There were great restaurants a few steps from the hotel so it was easy to satisfy everyone's desire for meals.

I didn't like the fact that I was sick (fever) during my stay, but accommodation made riding out my illness much easier. The bathroom was fantastic, with a great shower, a large room, and clean. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Bayeux.

We really enjoyed our time at the Churchill Hotel. The rooms are definitely on the small side, but the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent, with eggs, meat, cheese, croissants, an espresso machine, and much more. We hadn't planned on taking breakfast in the hotel, but after the first day we were hooked! It's also situated on one of the main streets in town, with a multitude of great restaurants in both directions as you go out the door. There's also a small but well stocked "Carrefour" grocery store a few doors down that was a great place to stock up on picnic supplies, french cookies, and adult beverages. And it's only a short walk to the main sights in town including the cathedral and the tapestry museum (the WWII museum and British Cemetery are a bit farther, so might want to taxi it - but definitely well done and worth the effort). They also offer a modest bar service in the evening, which frankly after a long day sightseeing was actually quite welcome on a few occasions. The staff also helped us arrange a shuttle to Mont St. MIchel for the four of us. Overall, a great hotel, which I can heartily recommend.

As mentioned above, this hotel is on one of the main drags in town. Our rooms were on the ground floor, and thus there were chatty pedestrians and passers-by literally on the other side of the glass windows of our room. There were times when we were practically taking part in their conversations. While this nuisance was a bit unexpected, a set of good earplugs did the trick and we still slept like babies. Oh, one other thing. The old Army Jeep in the pictures is gone. I would have really liked to have seen that in-person! But no worries, you definitely get your fill of old army vehicles at any of the Normandy beach museums!

All staff polite and helpful, great breakfast and a perfect location in Both Bayeux and in the greater area of Normandy. Nice room too. Had a great short stay here. Ideally located in center of Bayeux near to Cathedral and Tapestry.

Nothing to dislike about the hotel. Exception was no taxis at train station on arrival, only one who said not worth it to only take to hotel so he was waiting for customer needing longer journey. Waited for a while at taxi rank and in end had to walk into town with our cases in tow, along with about 10 other people who also just arrived. Could have been a random one off but frankly never saw another taxi in town in 3 days? Maybe a business opportunity for someone?

We booked a quad so we would have plenty of room for the three of us. My husband and I were traveling with our adult son. The room we got had an upstairs loft that our son had all to himself. it afforded us some privacy and our son loved it. Huge bathroom, we could have washed a small horse in that shower!

Our nice room was located right off of the small courtyard with an outside door. The staff regularly took smoke breaks there and lots of people passed by within 15’ or so of our door. There were large windows with big curtains we could close for privacy. But I never really felt safe and it was uncomfortable for people to see all of our comings and goings. We always seemed to walk out into a haze of smoke. Also, the beds weren’t very comfortable and the bathroom needed an exhaust fan that worked well to clear out all of the steam.

The staff is extremely helpful at the front desk. The young woman who takes care of the breakfast buffet was friendly and always willing to help guests. The location was directly in the middle of town. Shuttle service to Mont St Michael was excellent. The driver shared a bit of his family’s history which helped us understand what the residents of Normandy endured during WW II.

The shower was very small as my husband is 6’2.

Great location. We had a view of the Cathedral from the room which we were not expecting! in a fantastic location about a 10 minute walk from the train station. Air con in the room was great. They also kept our bags once we checked out, so that we could explore without carrying them. Small supermarket next door, which was handy

No tea or coffee facilities in the room. Room was on the small side. Decor was dated / classic, but this was ok with us. Breakfast was €16, which I thought was expensive, so we had breakfast out.

From the moment we arrived the staff were friendly and helpful pointing out the free car park nearby and allowing us to check in early. The room was at the front of the hotel but there were no noise issues from the main street, the hotel looked a little dated compared to the ones nearby but the rooms were clean, spacious as was the bathroom. Would recommend and would stay at Hotel Churchill again.

When we checked in the lovely lady on reception told us about the free parking but didn't mention it was only for 24 hours and then we would need to move so we ended up with a ticket.

The location is superb. It's in sight of the cathedral and close to everything of interest. it is also very close to the Normandy D-Day beaches for those interested. Staff are warm and friendly. Parking is not free but is very convenient. Our favourite hotel in Bayeux. Walking in the town after dark - much lit up beautifully - is not to be missed.

Little or nothing

Location was right in the middle of things. Close to shops, restaurants, sights, etc. Tour bus stop is just a minute of two walk from the hotel. Our room was wonderful with a big, comfortable bed and a 2-part bathroom. The breakfast was quite good.

Noise from one of the bars was disturbing until we got out the earplugs. Thought the charge for breakfast was high for what was offered.

Great location near restaurants, shops, and tour pickup, friendly staff, breakfast had a lot of choices, and comfortable room.

No elevator so notify hotel you need room on ground floor, not enough outlets, had to return the key everything you left. Can get noisy from street so best to ask for room facing away from the street.
