Château Saint Gilles0

The Chateau is a stunning place with beautifully manicured grounds. We took the ferry from Poole, UK and drove by electric car. The chateaux has 2 electric chargers and I charged my car no problem. The staff at Chateau Saint Giles were beyond friendly and welcoming - ready to help in any way they could. The breakfast buffet was delicious. There were a variety of pastries, french cheeses, fresh breads, eggs (with option to have them scrambled, soft or hard boiled), bacon, fresh fruit, juices, etc. all set out beautifully. There is a bean to cup coffee machine that you can help yourself too. There were also Nespresso machines in the rooms. The chateaux was only a 10 minute drive to downtown Bayeux and we were grateful to return to its beautiful quiet, grounds after busy days of touring Normandy. The restaurant was also exceptional and I would recommend it to anyone whether you are staying or not. Delicious fresh local food and great wine. Finally the room was lovely, great Nuxe products, lovely bath and shower. Soft comfy linens and bed. We slept well. I didn't realise there was a pool and hot tub but it looked lovely too, as well as a treehouse cabin for spa treatments (next time!). Overall, I would highly recommend Chateux Saint Giles and will be back!

One small request would be to supply Oat milk in addition to Soya (although to be fair I did not ask for oat milk so perhaps it was in the back somewhere).

The facility is wonderful, the staff was excellent. We were greeted upon arrival. We are not French speakers, and the staff's ability to speak English for us helped immensely. We had two suites, a smaller one for the two grandparents, and a larger one for the parents and the two kids (7 and 10 years old). It all worked out great. For us, the first view of the chateau as we approached was breathtaking--everything we might expect from the term "chateau".

This is not really a complaint, just a note that the facility does not have a lift. Our suites were up one flight of stairs, and the staff immediately offered to help us with the luggage. We were aware of this when we booked, so it was not an issue for us, but others should be aware of this when booking.

This was our second visit to Chateau St Gilles and it was even better this time around. The service provided by the owners Emerick and Anne-Sophie is excellent. A special thank you to Margaux who could not have been more helpful and helped me out when my computer charger failed. The grounds and accommodation are simply stunning. It is so peaceful and a great base to explore Normandy. This is not a cheap place to stay but the quality of service makes it well worth it. The food in the restaurant is of a very high standard - the chef even made us some superb gourmet burgers on request. In short, a great place to stay.

the location of the chateau is good for the surrounding area and the town. The Chateau it self is absolutely lovely, the building, the gardens every thing about it. The room we had was a good size and had good facilities with an excellent bathroom, tea making section with a sink and cupboard. Chateau has a restaurant which you have to book or tell them your intending to eat and this was all good local food of a very good standard cooked by the chef. breakfast was excellent and was a cold and hot spread of a gain local produce and plenty to chose from. We would defiantly stay here again if we every go back that way. Owner and worker where most helpful and couldn't have provided a better service.

the only point i could really criticise was a better quality toilet roll in the room, which is petty but all i would recommend.

Its less a hotel than a couples retreat, in the best way possible. Huge rooms with great facilities, white tablecloth restaurant downstairs. Massive grounds to wander around. In the evenings we availed ourselves of the sauna facilities followed by a spa (onsite shower first though). Its all outside surrounded by nature and quite private. Its not just quiet, its peaceful. The staff are engaging, friendly, spoke great English (making up for our poor French). Remarkbly good value. We felt very special , what a great way to finish up our 3 weeks in France.

We had been traveling through Europe for several weeks mostly staying in very populated cities so this was a welcome departure. We spent two nights in the chateau and didn't want to leave. The rooms were very spacious, the staff was super attentive and the grounds are absolutely amazing. We took evening strolls through the property and stopped to visit the resident cow, donkey and various sheep and chickens. It was a relaxing two days and really helped to breakup the trip. It was also very close to the Bayeax museum as well as Omaha Beach. It's the perfect location as a basecamp if you are planning to spend several days in normandy to explore. Added bonuses were the on sight parking and laundry facilities.

There was nothing I didn't like but keep in mind that like most places in Europe, there aren't any elevators.

If I could give this hotel 6 stars out of 5, I would! It was wonderful. The room (suite) was enormous. It had large windows on all sides overlooking the beautiful estate. The renovations were recent and extremely well done. The bathroom was large, clean, and with fantastic water pressure. Great shower! The staff were welcoming and very helpful. There were massage and spa facilities, so I wished we had stayed longer. The breakfast buffet was extensive and delicious. The location was stunning, a few kilometres from Bayeux in a tiny village on a country property, that you could walk around. I absolutely loved this hotel and hope that I will be able to visit again.

The buffet breakfast was fabulous. Lots of choice and very fresh with home made jams and farm butter and many other cooked and cold foods also. The facilities for a family were wonderful. Acres of garden with exercise areas and table tennis table, and swimming pool and jacuzzi. Also many pet animals. Quiet and relaxing and beautiful after a day of sightseeing.

The family worked so hard to give a wonderful holiday experience. I can't think of anything more they could have done.

This place is awesome. We loved our stay here. We wanted to base in Bayeaux and have easy parking since we were going to be in and out. While it wasn't in the town center, it was easy to get there in 5 minutes and find parking. The grounds were beautiful and the room was very nice. Staff was super nice.

There isn't anything to not like here. This place is the best, quiet, comfortable, and easy to get in and out of the parking area. Beautiful grounds. Perfect location if you are going to Normandy for a few days.

what an incredible hotel. a perfect blend of historic chateau with clean, fresh and modern interiors (ie new beds and pillows, decent linen, gorgeous bathrooms with proper plumbing). situated just outside Bayeux with views of the cathedral spires from the hot pool and pool. such a great pool complex with sauna and cold water splash thingie. fantastic breakfast with v high quality food.

The slightest issue is they do not employ have a chef - I believe the dinner is pre-prepared offsite. it’s still fairly good - had a couple of very nice burgers but had to send back an over cooked pork dish with extremely sweet puréed carrot underneath. Tasted like eating pure sugar. obviously it was tough from being reheated.
