Hotel Puerta del Sol - San Jose Airport

A very warm welcome, helping me out with change for the taxi, and a lovely comfy room after a long flight to Costa Rica from the UK. I missed breakfast for leaving early but staff helped in booking taxis. A great place to be for being reasonably close to the airport, and pretty with it's pool and outdoor eating area.

Booking lists this hotel as having shuttle service from the airport. It does not - you will need a taxi (which they can book for you in advance)

The room was comfortable, big, and sufficient. This is not a luxury hotel, but they do not try to be either. It was a perfect fit for our group, and we are looking forward to staying again in a couple weeks. Breakfast was basic, but perfect. Our guests were all next to each other, the owners were very very friendly as well.

I don't know if there was anything we didn't like. If you think you want to stay in a luxury hotel, stay in a luxury hotel. This is a basic, clean hotel, very typical of Costa Rica.

We used this place as a stopover close to the airport. It provided for all or our needs: safe, comfortable, and a great place to stay for the night. Owners were extremely friendly and accommodating.

The place can be a little difficult to find, but we had WAZE which made it rather easy. Girl who made and served breakfast needs a little more experience but it the end we were all satisfied.

I loved the place, nice swimming pool, breakfast in the morning served outdoors, refrigerator to store drinks and food, nice room, very quiet, safe area. A short walk to some nice restaurants, bars, cafes, food shopping. Nice lake down the block filled with Ducks. 10 min ride to the SJO airport - I really enjoyed my stay

Wonderful place and wonderful and helpful staff. It's a great place to touch base from the airport before heading elsewhere in the country. It's clean, comfortable and the gardens are beautiful. I'm vegan and even though the staff didn't originally know much about that, they were able to accommodate me and provide a good breakfast. So happy to stay, thank you Anna Maria!

I had a 1 night layover in San Jose and this hotel was absolutely perfect. They organised a pick up from the airport, i had a great sleep, there was a beautiful breakfast included and i went for a swim in the pool in the morning. Thank you so much for the wonderful stay :)

Hotel is in great location near San Jose airport. However you cannot hear noise from planes too much. Room is very big with 2 double beds and one single bed. Everything was clean, there is possibility to sit on outside terrace and also enjoy some time in pool. In price you get typical local breakfast. Owners were very helpful and helped us to resolve one issue. Even tough our stay was for 1 night, we enjoyed it.

Beautiful garden /pool terrace area, perfect for relaxing after a long journey. Very convenient location for arriving into San Jose Airport. Also very close to bus stop for onward travel. Comfortable bed, excellent breakfast and most of all the staff were so welcoming and friendly. Ana is friendly, interesting and very helpful!

Breakfast was basic, fruit salad, coffee, eggs, toast, and sausage. Room was large and adequate. The pool was a little cold, but all pools in San Jose are cold.

I really like this hotel. I don't have anything really that I didn't like. The power was out when we arrived, but that had nothing to do with the hotel, and the hotelier was happy to provide a lantern for our group.

quiet considering the proximity of the highway. very quiet, slept very well.

There was not much human presence. The owner or manager was hard to find when I arrived and when I needed to leave and the gates were closed at 6:30am.
