We have arrived to the hotel later than expected however we were greeted and given our room with no issues. There is a 50usd cover which you have to pay before you get your room, but I received it back on my card the same day. The room was quite small - however it was not uncomfortable at all. The "shared bathroom" might look scary if you are used to different, but it was actually 4 bathrooms (and indicators in the room which bathroom is available at all times) and we never had an issue. The place is close to most central locations, it is a perfect choice for your stay.

Really loved the value for money here. Felt super safe as a female solo traveller. The shared bathrooms were pretty clean and not that inconvenient to use because there was a sink in the room anyway. Loved that I could buy cheap food and eat on the roof for some quiet time away from the city.

I was secretly hoping it would be a bit more social if there were other solo travellers around but that’s fine.

Perfect location, very friendly staff, and rather comfortable room for NYC. Room was cleaned everyday and there was a fantastic bagel shop around the corner. Plus, super close to subway stations and attractions.

There was a door dividing my room from my neighbours and it was zero soundproof. They were smoking and partying on the first night so it was inconvenient, but I barely spent time inside so I didn’t mind much.

the location is great, literally in the middle of Manhattan so if you like to walk and explore the city on foot it is the best option as you can walk both uptown and downtown. The neighbourhood has plenty of restaurants and it is relatively quite, not Times Square vibe, which I found great. I can only recommend to book spacious room, at least 20 square meters. And, yes, the rooftop is great add on, where you can have a drink and enjoy the end of the day.

we had to spend one night in smaller room due to minor malfunction, so as I said it is better to opt for more spacious option if you are staying long. However, the other day we even got upgraded so no complaints

Although I chose the option of a shared bathroom, the room had a little sink and a hairdryer! That's useful! The room was not large but it had everything I needed to be comfortable. I liked the decoration of the place and everyone was nice there. Pod51 is very comfortable and it is well located, just 2/3min walking to a subway station and it is in the middle of Manhattan! Perfect choice and I'm really glad I took it!

Well, there is one thing we have to pay attention. Besides the total booking cost, Pod51 charges a deposit of about $30 a night, so be prepared for that. They say that money returns to the client if we leave the room in a good condition (within 7 to 21 days - in fact, I am waiting for that reimbursement still), however, be sure to check the total price at the transaction and ask about it. Make sure the value of the deposit is right as well, because, in my case, the value difference was the equivalent of a deposit for 2 nights ($60) even though I only spent 1 night there. The good thing is that if you ask about it, the staff answers very quickly and explains everything about it! They are very helpful.

what I personally loved about the property was that everything was so close by so I was able to really get a feel of the New York City vibe

what I disliked but I wouldn’t call it a negative was that I was not allowed to smoke upstairs at the top of the roof and I don’t know there wasn’t a lot of people up there so maybe that could be something they would later on want to add because their rooftop is really cute and could be used for events maybe even more of a chill atmosphere

Amazing rooftop. Space in the rooms is limited (although you get what you pay for!) so having a space to relax like this is such a bonus

Due to the reasonable price point, other guests treat this place like a hostel. Banging in and out at all hours of the night, singing up the corridors at 3am etc. As there are shared bathrooms, there are a lot of disruptive noises in the night with guests getting up and down to go to the bathrooms slamming doors etc. I would probably think again before doing the shared bathroom floors again

I liked the facilities in the room; bed, toiletries and the desk. The location was convenient for my commuting to the work place.

The room and service did not meet my expectation at that price. Too much expensive.

Great location, great staff, great use of a small space with the storage under the bed and alongside the bed. The staff was always cleaning and it showed - besides the normal wear and tear of a hotel I felt clean and comfortable. I was also pleased with how quiet it was. Didn't hear other guests and because it's on a side street the traffic noise was minimal. HOT water!!

The bathroom! Super tiny. I have long legs and had to sit sideways on the toilet. There's no washcloths so be prepared. The bed was very hard - similar to sleeping on the floor. I would recommend it for a short stay but 7 nights was a bit tough.

We had a bunk bed room. The upper bunk had an easy to use ladder. Each bunk had its own TV. We had a sink in our room. There were four private water closets on our floor, each with a toilet, sink, and shower. The towels were soft and absorbent. Everything was clean and in good working order. The room was quiet. The first-floor garden and the rooftop patio were very appreciated in the hustle & bustle of NYC. The hotel held our luggage after checkout while we were on a tour of the city. The location was within easy walking distance of St. Patrick's Cathedral, Rockefeller Center, Time's Square, and the subway system. NYPD Precinct 17 and an FDNY fire station were only a block away, but we did not notice much in the way of city noises. Off-site parking was an easy walk (even with luggage), and Pod 51 validated our ticket for a good discount.

There were no ice machines. There was no complimentary coffee. The water closets did not have paper towels.
