All staff we dealt with were exceptional, especially Elizabeth. They we’re friendly and efficient, and took care of all our requests cheerfully. Everything was in good working order. When I wanted to add a single room for the third night of my stay, Elizabeth set me up with a room directly across the hall from my other room and arranged for early checkin the next day.

Our room was better suited for a business traveler than for a family. There was only one office chair and one bench for seating so we mostly sat on the beds. The beds are very high and it was equally difficult for me (a 67 yo woman) and my 6 yo granddaughter to climb up on the bed.

My room #300 was quiet, clean, efficiently furnished with everything I needed, such as desk, wifi, refrigerator, chest of drawers, enough hangers, queen bed, and some things I didn’t use like coffee machine, microwave, shampoo, tv. The towels were refreshed frequently. I liked using the highfi room on my floor, briefly, when family came over.

The pillows were hard and quite lumpy. The digital lights (microwave, clock) were annoying while trying to outwit jet lag, and I covered most with hand towels. I used the bed roll pillow to cover the lights under the door. The wood blinds kept out most of the early daylight, thankfully.

Comfortable stay, with no major complains. Good clean rooms and polite staff. Good wifi speed. Value for money

Facilities need more maintenance - lift was shaking, pool & jacuzzi area needed more lighting and cleaning. Breakfast options too were very limited - no access to hot milk. Pan cakes etc .. Location wise - mixed - while close to good eating & shopping options, but was quite far from Caltrain stations.

The breakfast has been changed to cold items only (bread, muffins, fruit, yogurt etc) - it was basic but good. The recent renovations are mostly complete and look good

They are changing to a grab and go breakfast - not sure what that will be like (but st least they let us know before our next stay)

The hotel is very nice. We got a king size bed and the bed was super comfortable. They give you lots of towels. The room is big enough for 2 people. The front desk was super nice. They made it easy to check in and out. I lost my keys within the first few days and they didn’t ask any questions to why I needed a new key. I did not hear any of my neighbors so it was a pretty quite stay. There are a bunch of restaurants around and gas stations. It is easy access to 101 so you’ll get around easily! This hotel is great!

No microwave No laundry mat on site

The Room is comfortable and clean . Staff is friendly and helpful . Hotel Location is good with quick eats across the road .

The Breakfast had the same options everyday .

Great budget hotel: the room was clean and the shower pressure was good. Also free parking (which is uncommon in SJ apparently)

The location requires making a u-turn to reach. Also the floor board was thin so I could hear people walking above us all night.

Loved the staff especially Liz at the front! Made us feel very welcomed. Breakfast was great as well! Clean rooms and very easy parking and access to shoreline amphitheater

Only thing that comes to mind is getting the AC to work. We woke up during the night pretty hot and couldn’t figure out how to get the AC to turn on/stay on.

Crystal at the frond desk went above and beyond. All the staff were very friendly. I loved the lounge area on the 3rd floor which had ample seats for a better hang out area. Loved the tiny croissants!

The elevator could use some updating. And having an ice machine on each floor would have been more beneficial.

Sometimes you are fortunate enough to happen across accommodations that remind you that *hotelier* is a profession that can be excelled at or even mastered. This property and its excellent staff didn't just rent out a room - they took the time to understand our needs and went above and beyond to ensure we could care for our infant and toddler comfortably. The location is perfect as well. We were able to do everything we wanted in San Francisco, San Jose, and Santa Cruz within two days - with a feeling of being able to return 'home' (as my 3-year old put it) each night. The bed is extremely comfortable, the designer stuck the landing with the Madmen-esque aesthetic, and the price is shockingly affordable. If business or recreation ever again requires me to be within an hour radius of the Hotel Avante I won't consider another option.
