Awesome Property. The reception is awesome. I would say Ahmed is very professional in managing the hotel. The reception team also is wonderful to deal with travelers

It's an impressively decorated hotel, well placed for the medina and places to eat and drink. The staff were friendly and helpful. When we had a minor problem with the bathroom in the the first room we stayed in, they moved us to a bigger room at no extra cost. The breakfast was good, filling and tasty. I'd stay here again if in Tunis.

On the first night we arrived I would have liked it if there was somewhere to eat inside the hotel, there is a café directly outside but this is predominantly for drinks only. This is only minor though as there are plenty of places to eat within close walking distance.

I loved this hotel. Like most people, I went for the ambience of the building itself plus the location, and that did not disappoint at all. Even in my small single room, everything was nice, there were outlets aplenty, and the bathroom was visually lovely (and worked great). The elevator was an old model that I had to remember to manually close the doors for, but also charming. Everything was clean. The location is amazing, as well. My flight to Tunis was pushed back a few days in advance and then my flight was delayed on the tarmac, so the 18-hour layover I'd planned was severely cut short, and I didn't check in until after the big sights were closed or close to. However, because the Royal Victoria is right off of the Medina, I was at least still about to walk just a few yards and visit the Medina (and shop!) before it became dark out. Finally, and most importantly, the staff at the Royal Victoria are wonderful. I was traveling on a long layover as a single female traveler and because of that the staff politely but consistently checked in on me when I was going out to shop or explore, and asked how I was whenever I came back. It was kindly meant and reassuring to me, because Tunis is not the safest place for people to visit, particularly lone travelers. I'm an experienced traveler and have been to places less safe than Tunis, but knowing that the hotel staff are looking out for you is a big plus. Plus, the morning breakfast was very good - I especially loved their traditional sweet pastries.

In my opinion, this has to be the best place in the whole of Tunis! Over the course of six weeks we stayed in around 22 different hotels, and this one is one of my favorites. Our room was huge and we had not one but two balconies (each with a different aspect) looking out over the square. Fabulous for people watching - there was always something happening in the square below. The reception staff were exceptionally friendly (they tried to teach us one or two new Arabic words each day, which had amusing consequences. Despite the central location, the room was quiet at night. Amenities were spacious and with quirky painted walls. Best of all, the hotel was located at the edge of the medina, which offered hours and hours of exploration and getting lost. Many options for food in surrounding streets as well. Buffet breakfast was on the average side (don't forget to ask for an omelette or fried eggs if that's your thing.

No issues with anything at all.

You can’t find better located hotel in Tunis, both for business and leisure purposes. The staff were amazing. They went extra miles to make our stay as smooth as possible. Thanks Mr Hassan and Mr Lotfi. They speak decent English and they genuinely had best of their guests in their harts.

When we arrived the weather was rainy. We noticed the ceiling was dripping. In entire our three days stay the hallway was wet carpet. We were really concerned if this could be a serious risk. The breakfast was very bad. Tasteless coffee, dated tea bags, old pastries. No toaster. The double bed was too small for us. I guess it was 140 cm wide. The pressure and temperature of showers was not stable. This was specially issue for our 5 years old daughter.

In a great location right next to the entrance of the medina. Wonderful Tunisian decor. Friendly and helpful staff, they even looked after some of my luggage for me when I did a side trip down to Djerba for a few days. Although, of course, it helped that I was actually returning to spend my last night in Tunisia at the Royal Victoria, I don't think they offer a random luggage storage facility! Plentiful food available at the breakfast buffet, including omlettes prepared to order. Plus the restaurant opens in the evening to offer a choice of three meals which vary daily. I ate there several times.

The shower could be a bit temperamental, suddenly going from hot to cold, and back to hot again.

Amazing hotel, the facilities themselves are very stunning, keep in mind this isn't luxury as much as it is beautiful and historic, so it depends on what you are looking for. The location is insane as it is just at the entrance of the medina. The hotel itself is one of the beautiful sights in the little square it's on. The service was what we loved the most, the night concierges Omar and Hassan were amazing to us and helped us find places to eat, even gave us security to escort us to a nearby restaurant so we would feel safe walking in the empty medina at night.

Breakfasts could have catered more to non Tunisian taste, but we've found that to be true in all Tunisian hotels.

Situated on Victory Square, next to the Bab el Bhar gate, which marks the entrance to the Medina, or the historic, cultural, and traditional heartbeat of the city of Tunis, this former British Embassy building with its monumental architecture and sheer scale evokes the era of great prosperity and unbridled luxury. Never in my life have I seen such a lavishly decorated bathroom! You could off its floor; that is how squeaky clean it is. The hotel’s charming restaurant offers a vast variety of tasty breakfast options, and the staff are especially cooperative and respectful, without taking the smiles off their faces.

Beware: when it gets dark, the neighbourhood does not seem to be particularly safe.

Great building in the best area. The hotel is at the edge of the old city wall, so you can either go to the new city or old Medina quickly and move between the two easily. Bolt taxis (download Bolt, pay cash) cost almost nothing in USD and Euro to most parts of the city, including Goleta and Carthage (about 8 USD). Clean bathrooms, linens, floors etc. The breakfasts are plentiful and tasty, and the kind breakfast staff are great. All of the hotel staff are great. They made me feel welcome and very safe.

In Tunisia you are now allowed to host friends who are not staying at the hotel in your room. This made it awkward to arrange things with fellow academics who were also in Tunis researching with me.

Very friendly and professional staff. Excellent location near but not in crowded medina. Easy access compared to being in the medina. Most rooms have balconies. Request a balcony. Room was very clean. Overall, a very good experience.

Breakfast was OK. Just OK. Processed meats were kind of funky. Baked goods appeared to be less than fresh. Waffle machine would have been nice and cheap to make. Everybody likes waffles. Shower was very small with water leakage onto the floor. I still would stay here again without hesitation.
