We are a family of three and we stayed for three nights. Dar Ben Gacem is easy to find. Just tell your taxi to stop at Pasha School and navigate the 150m-200m remaining journey on foot using Google Maps. It's not accessible by car and there is no parking nearby. Our room was comfortable and breakfast was good. The staff were very friendly and helpful and one of the guys, Slim, went above and beyond and let us use his Bolt account (cab-hailing app) as we could not register our Tunisian phone number for some reason. When the staff found out all three of us were planning to sleep on the king-sized bed they insisted we take another matress free of charge so we will be a bit more comfortable. Once we've checked in, the staff sent some welcome tea and biscuits to our room. Overall, we highly recommend Dar Ben Gacem.

Nothing.

The staff is really nice and forthcoming. They make your stay as confortaböe as they can. The house is a very pretty reburbished old Tunisian house with a court and a nice roof top. It is definitely an experience. The area is very lively with a lot of shops (medina) and restaurants near by. Taxis do not like to enter the small streets but the next bigger street is only a few minutes away.

The age of the house comes with some restrictions, my room had only windows towards the court yard (and the breakfast tables). It wan't a problem as I had to get up early and all guests were really quiet. My colleague had a room with a window pointing outside.

personnel was polite and helpful, excellent breakfast, building is a renovated historic place, state of the art, atmosphere is calm and relaxing, odoring is incredible (jasmin), handmade traditional pottery collection is unique, neighborhood, flea market and stores are authentic, offering unique hamdmade items in reasonable prices, not affected much by consumptionism and tourism, it is a transfer back in time, making you feel appreciation for the culture of muslims and tunisian people

carpets in room should be cleaned more often

My flight from TUN to Djerba was cancelled and I booked in here because if the great reviews. Slim, the concierge, went above and beyond to make sure I arrived safely. He walked me through the taxi process from TUN -- even helping me navigate with a video call. He gave me an electricity converter. He totally saved my vacation and gave me such a great impression of Tunisia. I talked to the others at the (extraordinary) breakfast and Slim had helped others similarly. The place itself is like a stately fortress within the souk. It's a pretty direct walk to the mosque.

Nothing, it was such a neat experience and a great intro to Tunis.

Excellent atmosphere and exceptional breakfast. You can really feel the history of the Medina in this place! Lots of charm and character and wonderful common areas for reading, eating and viewing. Rooms are comfortable, very clean and well appointed.

I had a payment issue at the end (two of my Visa cards didn't work with the terminal machine). The same cards worked well at ATMs in Tunisia and other POS terminals, so it might be preferable to leave some time for payment or have cash prepared.

I LOVED everything about it: excellent location in the Medina - 5-7 minutes to all best sights and restaurants; very cute and stylish rooms, excellent A/C (hugely important when it’s 43C / 110F outside), stunning sunsets from gorgeous rooftop, home-made breakfast of kings served in the dining room made for kings, superb service from kind and professional staff. They really go out of their way to help you - I even got walked by Feta, a cleaning lady, to hammam and the hotel paid for me as I had no cash - and just added it to my bill.. Very thankful for everything. The best experience one could have on the first encounter with beautiful Tunisia. 10+ hospitality. 🧡

First, this hotel is nestled in the absolute heart of Tunis‘ striking Medina. Second, the staff are incredibly kind and helpful — they were always there to assist with a smile and made us feel 100% comfortable and cared for. The rooftop terrace is great, the library is a great touch and the breakfast is lovely. This place really does feel like the whole package and a great way to discover Tunis.

There’s nothing we didn’t like. Everything was great, right down to the last detail.

It is like staying in a palace. Large halls with beautiful art collections, exceptional dining hall, library, and the rooms are traditional yet with all the modern amenities. Rooftop couches made for a nice place to read while it was raining, to catch sunset over the city, and to hear the call to prayer. Staff is exceptional, and many spoke excellent English. It is located in the Medina - in an area with few shops or cafes but most are reachable in 7-10 minutes walking. They have 2 locations within a few minutes of one another so make sure you have the correct location for your driver. excellent value for money.

Location in a small alley away from the main road in the Medina. Only 8 rooms including 2 suits. My suit has its own very private courtyard. Beautiful Dar hotel although not as decorative as the Riads in Morocco. Very friendly staff especially Slim.

Breakfast a bit frantic as dishes (salad, fruits, breads, pastries, omelet, coffee etc. ) were brought separately to each guest. Sometimes things were forgotten. Would be better if they serve buffet style and let guests choose their own. Less food waste and better efficiency.

Good location and lovely people that serve nice breakfast in the morning. Rooms were simple but clean.

Asked for a taxi. They charged us 40 TND to pick us up from the airport. Later we figured out that it is only 20 TND. We also asked for a taxi to Hammamet, they charged us 190 TND. We figured out that it is only 120 TND. It is not about the money but shows that they also charge sometimes the double price to also benefit from it.
