The rooms were very nice and clean. The house itself is very beautiful. Breakfast was very good.

Communication in advance and after our stay was quite difficult. I didn’t get any response to my messages and questions in advance. Finally, I reached them via Instagram. They promised us an airport shuttle to the hotel but no driver was there. In addition, I forgot something in the hotel and wrote them to keep it so that I can pick it up one week later after my road trip. They didn’t reply; and of course they couldn’t find it when I showed up one week later to pick it up. This was disappointing.

The Dar is looking very very nice, is very beautiful decorated, with old items. It is located in the center of Tunis, in Medina. The breakfast was very good, with fruits and citronade. The rooftop view is amazing, the staff permitted us to eat there, it was fabulous!

I am very sorry to tell you that the room was not so clean ( the bed cushion and the carpet were not cleaned). Also, there was no hot water(I did not report at the reception, but after waiting 10 min, the hot water failed to come).Possibly because we were arriving in the night.

This is a small boutique hotel in an old private house, converted to have 8 bedrooms. They have a tremendous ceramic collection. Really nice, artistic feel, personalised treatment.

I think the room could have been upgraded a touch more. The structure of the place was authentic and beautiful, but the modern touches could have been a little better thought out. But at least it was personal and not corporate. Also, the hotel is in a pretty grim side alley (once you have spent some time there, it no longer feels threatening).

I really liked this place. I wanted to stay in the historical place in the heart of Tunisian Medina, that's why I booked this hotel. Everything was amazing. I fell in love with interior, food and hospitality of staff. And I'd like to say thank a guy Youssef (I hope I wrote his name correctly), he helps with serving a breakfast and organize food workshops. He's the only person who spoke English really well and I could ask for help in English. It's really crucial as I don't speak French, so only Youssef helped to cope with everything. And I would like to mention the cleanliness, the room was very clean and cosy. Dar Ben Gacem is highly recommended!

I had one problem. My flight was delayed and I arrived later than I expected. it was about 1am. It was dark, I didn't find this hotel right away, I called the reception but no one answered. A local guy from a shop nearby helped me find the hotel and when I checked in, tired after a long flight, the receptionist told me that it was night time and it couldn't be check-in time, although I had booked 2 nights from Friday to Saturday (13th of December) and Saturday to Sunday (14th of December). I arrived on Friday night, which was the time of my booking. If checking in at night is not possible at all, this should be considered in the hotel description.

The hotel is an absolute jewel box located a short walk from the medina. This was my first time visiting Tunis and the hotel was the perfect base to explore the city. The staff couldn't have been more helpful throughout, accommodating any queries, including taxi bookings, and serving an incredibly generous breakfast spread every morning. I also learnt that the author of the guidebook I took stayed at the hotel for a month when writing it! The room was very elegant with beautiful use of colour and a lovely outside area to relax and read. The rooftop area was another beautiful part of the hotel. It was inspiring to hear about the social enterprise initiatives undertaken by Dar Ben Gacem, which are a key draw to continue supporting the business. There are also a huge number of cultural events that take place there. I hope to visit again soon!

I would really recommend signposting the hotel better from the main road. My taxi driver couldn't find it when I arrived from the airport, then I walked into the other Dar Ben Gacem when trying to locate this one. A stay at Dar Benti in Monastir saw the accommodation well signposted from the main road - a simple measure that saves a lot of time. I also think this and better lighting in the road leading up to the hotel would help those who are unfamiliar with the area.

The Riad is absolutely amazing, like stepping back in time. It’s a bit hidden but easy to find. The rooms are clean and beautifully maintained.

We stayed for 3 nights, and on one morning at breakfast at 8:00, we were told that the bread and omelette would be ready in 5 minutes. After waiting for 40 minutes, we ended up leaving the table. The following day, after asking, we were informed that they don’t receive the bread until 9:00 AM about the omelette I don't know (despite breakfast being from 8:00 to 10:30 AM). It would have been much more helpful if we had been informed upfront, rather than being left waiting and wasting our time. Additionally, there was another occasion when we had to wait quite a while for someone to open the main door at 6:30 PM.

The hotel is really beautiful, clean, amazingly decorated, and the staff is fantastic. They were very helpful and patient with us on our arrival day (our flight got to Tunis really late, after 1 am). The terrace is stunning, with a nice view on Tunis' rooftops. Our double room was spacious, and every day we had housekeeping and fresh bottles of water. The breakfast was also super appreciated, they serve a variety of fruit, bread and croissants, cheese and eggs (the shaksuka was fantastic!). The area is safe, also at night. I highly recommend it.

Our stay at Dar Ben Garcem was simply wonderful. From the moment we were greeted by Rhouma to our final minutes talking to the owner, Leila Ben Garcem, we were impressed by the attentiveness and warmth of the staff. Our room was beautifully appointed in traditional decor and the Dar, after being meticulously renovated in 2019, is now cared for beautifully. Our bed was firm but comfortable; breakfasts were fulsome and fresh, and everything was assidulously cleaned. We particularly loved the rooftop terrace - it was just gorgeous. Particular thanks to Leila, Rhouma, Chedley & Yusuf. This is a hidden jewel in the medina!

We wished our stay could have been longer!!!

I liked the premises of this accommodation (a former palace with collection of artworks) and the location of the accommodation in the beautiful medina of Tunisia's capital city Tunis - in the evening / sunset hours I liked the view from the rooftop terrace - The staff is really friendly and hospitable - My room was big and clean and well equipped - They offered to book me a reliable transfer to the airport (slightly on the expensive side) to be safe to be at the airport in time for check-in

nothing to mention, all good, all fine!

It is a truly beautiful hotel, the courtyard is just an artwork, so is the breakfast room. We admired the architecture during our stay. Our room was OK but not as nice as the other parts of the hotel. Nevertheless, it was a decent room. Breakfast came with many varieties and was very delicious. Unlike other hotels where we were only served with packed stuff, this hotel was an exception. We also enjoyed the sunsets at the terrace where view is very nice. Staff were very helpful, they made a few calls for us when we could not communicate with our car rental company.

Bathroom was very small and water was leaking as a lot in the shower. I think room is nicely decorated but would benefit from a deep cleaning. We asked for dinner on our last night which we understand is exceptionally offered and they were very kind to arrange it for us. However, it was obviously not cooked at the hotel but bought from outside and microwaved and it was totally cold. Given that we paid 50 TND per person for that cold meal, we regret our decision to have dinner at the hotel and should have eaten out.
