SET Hotel.Residence by Teufelhof Basel

The location is unbeatable, as the Hotel is right in the center, with very fast and easy communication with the tram and bus network that are free for the customer, since the Hotel, like almost all of Basel, offers the client the Basel Card, with which all transport in the city is free and museum tickets have a 50% discount. In little more than a minute on foot you will reach Barfüsselplatzt, where you will find one of the nerve centers of the city's tram network. As for cleaning, there is nothing to object to, as the service is correct and the supplies are replenished daily without problem. The rooms are spacious and contain everything you need, and more than is usual in hotels. For example, in addition to a coffee maker, cups for coffee and infusions, with metal spoons, and supplies to drink something in the room, in addition to the fridge, spacious cabinets to store whatever you want, the Hotel provides slippers and bathrobes. The bathroom is divided, so that two people can use the toilet and sink at the same time without problem while the other can use the shower, which is magnificent, spacious and with high-quality gel and shampoo. In addition, next to the shower there is a second sink with a mirror. In our opinion at least, that was an ingenious distribution. As regards the double bed, it is spacious and the quality of the mattress and pillows are exceptional. There are two pillows for each person, one normal soft and another with two different hardnesses, soft on one side and firm on the other. We slept very well, both because of the wonderful bed and the silence provided both by the quiet environment and by the acoustic and light insulation, since the room has two electric shutters of different thickness. In short, a great stay in a Hotel that also offers wonderful independence, since the reception and restaurant are located in the building opposite, the old Teufelhof. We will return. of course.

It's super close to the city center, and has a couple of nice restaurants near by. Be aware that Teufelhof has buildings on each side of the road, there are right in front of each other. The room was ample and well lit, but also the shades did a good job to block the sunlight in the mornings. The chair for the desk was comfortable and I say this because in many places it isn't and its a pain to be seated there for an extended time. Great shower, there isn't an electric kettle but the coffee machine has an option to boil water. The bed and pillows were comfortable too. There is big area in the reception where you can get something to drink and or do some work / relax.

Location was great, right by the Aldstadt and centre of town, with good tram connections including to the main station. Hotel was really quirky, a mix of old and new, with the newer parts having an industrial style. Breakfast was wonderful with a great choice. Beds very comfy. Staff very helpful. The electric blinds with privacy and blackout were great. We had a room right beside the lift so I was concerned, but didn't hear a thing - amazing! We really loved Basel - much more than we were expecting to - really lovely city for a long wknd.

For a 4* hotel, I think the towels could be better - they are tiny!! The one for your body is what I'd use for my hair at home. Bit time consuming to check in and out, and there wasn't always anyone at the reception over in the SET part where we were which meant a bit of going back and forth. Key cards were annoying and didn't work, in partic you could exit onto another floor via the lift, but not by the stairwell which was annoying given we were a set of 6 friend split over 3 rooms each on a different floor.

The location of our apartment is ideal, situated on a beautiful street. The apartment itself had all the amenities we needed for our stay.

We had a minor issue with our washing machine, but it was promptly fixed. Our breakfast experience at the nearby Teufelhoff Hotel was moderate as they seemed to have forgotten our order two days in a row. We were hoping for better attention to detail on such simple things.

I arrived in Basel for a conference and stayed at the hotel for 3 nights as a single traveler. The location is obviously very good, close to the city center and the old city. The room was excellent and the bed was very comfortable. The coffee machine in the room was a nice surprise and when I asked for a few more capsules I got way more than I would have ever needed :) From the room there was a nice view to the street and despite previous reviews I read - the noise of the tram passing under the window did not disturb at all. The staff was welcoming, pleasant and helped with any question or request. The breakfast was large and rich and in a convenient time range. I have no doubt that on my next visit to Basel I will return to this excellent hotel!

Clean comfortable rooms, friendly and helpful staff. Good central location close to tourist attractions. Hotel rooms are reasonably well insulated from outside especially tram noises but can still hear a bit.

Close to a hospital so occasionally you hear ambulance sirens. Bring good ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. Breakfast included was actually at Restaurant Atelier across the road in the other hotel, not a big issue if it wasn't raining but a pain to have to get wet to go to breakfast. We had a hire car so needed parking. Carpark/garage is offsite about three minutes walk but limited spaces so definitely reserve well ahead of stay to ensure you have a spot when you arrive. We had to park in the public car park on the first night which is priced the same but didn't allow unlimited entry/exit.

Had such an amazing sleep during my three-night stay at this hotel. Incredibly comfortable double bed in a room that faced the courtyard instead of the street. The room itself was spotless; so kudos to the cleaning staff. Very modern boutique-like atmosphere. A short walk to the old town. Would definitely stay there again.

Definitely not the hotel's fault, but there was some loud drilling before 8am one morning, and on another evening, there was a loud outdoor concert or rally at 9pm...on a Wednesday night! But apart from these two very random incidents, the hotel is fairly quiet. You can just hear people talking (cleaning staff, other hotel guests, etc...) when they are in the hallway.

Excellent location in the old town. Fast response/service. Comfortable bed. Three sinks. Hidden safe available. Very quiet area, double pane windows with blinds. Water, tea and coffee free of charge. Nice coffee machine!

Cupboard above the sink is in the way when using the kitchenette sink. Shower door shall open the other way so don't get the floor wet. Garbage cans are very small so need to be emptied often. No recycling bin...

We arrived early, way before normal check-in time, but they were able to room us within 15 min of our arrival. I was traveling with my mother and they provided us with two separate rooms connected by a door. My room had an efficiency kitchen and both rooms had a mini-frig which was well stocked with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The location is ideal as it's quiet yet only a 5 min walk from the city center. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. The SET branch of the hotel has a gym and a modern design. Dinner across the street at the older hotel was excellent and the wine list is exhaustive.

We stayed in the SET hotel, the room were large, clean and great bathroom! the complimentary water and tea/coffee was very welcome! the cafe downstairs made good complimentary coffee, and staff very friendly. the hotel is situated right next to a metro station and the free Basel pass makes it very easy to travel around!

25 Swiss francs for parking per night is quite a steep charge we thought compared to the rest of our travels in Switzerland.
