Great place, fantastic location at the beach. Staff was were nice and super-friendly. The hotel restaurant by the sea side is simply amazing. Excellent food and a superb scenery. This is also where you have breakfast. I saw some reviews with people complaing it's not a breakfast buffet but "just" seven items that you select from the menu. Well, for me it was plenty, I managed to consume seven really tasty items and had enough for the entire day.

You need to know this: The city view is really not spectacular. Sometimes city view from a higher floor can even be nicer than ocean view. Not hear, though. On the city side you look at buildings in the foreground which are just not very nice to look at. So definitely choose the sea side for you room, if you are willing to spend a little more. I heard that restaurant and bar staff don't get the tips when you add them to the card. Very bad! Shame on whosoever is in charge of this policy. So please give cash tips!

When we arrived, parking was somewhat confusing at first. Then we witnessed a manager and a staff member bickering with each other. I thought: not a great sign. However, everything else was perfect from then on, (except for some wonky billing practices...see below.) All of the staff were very nice, friendly and helpful. I'm including the restaurant staff at the Ocean Lounge @ Holland House, which is attached to the lobby. Full breakfast is included. And they have an outstanding selection of items on the breakfast menu, and they even let you pack your food to go if you don't feel like eating breakfast in the restaurant during breakfast hours. The room was spotless, modern and spacious. The large shower has a rainfall fixture--which felt great! The balcony overlooking the beach is nice. The bed was comfortable. Generous closet space. Nice mini fridge. The bill they slid under our door at the day of checkout really concerned me: confusing, and a bunch of extra charges that appeared to be way over what I was quoted when I booked the reservation. However, when I addressed it with the woman at the front desk, she told me, "Don't worry, I have to fix that." (Some of it was pending charges should you fail to return the key fob for the gate at the parking lot, and some of it was just nonsense.) In the end, it almost seems like they undercharged me on the restaurant and bar tab which I had opened on our arrival. Only $40 for dinner & drinks for two??

Only very minor issues: Bill itemization is a bit confusing. Parking ($15 per day) is a 4-minute walk from the hotel, and the neighborhood seems a bit sketchy. We were there in August, the quietest month in St. Maarten. I can't imagine the parking lot being big enough to accommodate all the cars in the busiest months.

The included breakfast was excellent with a nice variety of items to choose from; the wait-staff were excellent, friendly, graceful and accomodating. The breakfast area overlooks the ocean and the boardwalk. Enjoy the cooling breezes and afterwards go for a nice walk on the boardwalk and enjoy watching the big cruise ships coming in to port. Rooms are pretty standard fare but we liked our accomodations plus our little balcony where we could relax, read the paper or enjoy a cocktail or soft drink. The staff at the Holland House are fabulous and go out of their way to assist you; a very nice young lady at the front desk (Luisanny) was kind enough to help us (two old seniors!!) navigate confirming our flight home. We plan on returning to the Holland House next year....perfect location on Front Street for shopping or dining. Be aware there is only one elevator in the hotel and it probably gets very busy in the high season....just relax and go with the flow!

Perhaps some of the rooms could be "freshened up" a little but, apart from that, that's all I can think of.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful. Nicely decorated, a large room with two comfortable double beds. We had a sea view room with a good-sized balcony overlooking the beach. The bathroom is big and well laid out. Staff was very friendly and accommodating and assisted us with wheelchair and car parking. Coffee and tea facilities in the room, daily supply and extra on request including mineral water. High quality toiletries. A free sunlounger, parasol and beach towel. A great lively bar and very good restaurant. Location right at the bay. A trustworthy taxi driver, Mathilde, who also does island tours. During the day the town is lively with all the tourists from the cruise ships but after 6.00 shops, restaurants and bars close with very few exceptions. To have an alternative for the hotel restaurant a taxi or car needs to be taken. In addition to the restaurant in the hotel, we can recommend Emilio's which is relatively close but not really walking distance.

Holland House Beach Hotel is a very cute boutique hotel right on the beach in Phillipsburg. The included breakfast was tasty, and the restaurant served great meals. The property was well decorated and maintained, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the oceanview rooms offered a great view of the beach and the sunset. The staff was very friendly, welcoming, and helpful.

Unfortunately the local area is designed for the cruise ship daytrippers, so the surrounding neighbourhood lacked interesting shops (but there were plenty of duty-free alcohol and perfume shops).

We loved everything about our stay! It is a great location. Special acknowledgment to Neera, Indira and Naomi at the front desk for being so helpful and friendly. The Ocean Lounge is clutch with the great food options throughout the day. Shout out to our morning servers of Jacinia and Lucia with their warm smiles. Our room on the 4th floor was spotless (Thank you Michelle) and the bed was very comfortable. The beach section is also well kept with beach chairs and umbrellas for all of HHBH guests. Reuben, a beach attendant, was so professional, attentive and courteous to us. Couldn't do enough for everyone. I just loved the entire vibe and cannot wait to go back. Highly recommend.

The location is the best, on the beach, great views and in the middle of shopping district. You can walk to the cruise port.

The property is so CLEAN and perfectly located if you’re in SXM if you’re there to shop and eat. Unfortunately, I visited during the low season so a lot of places were closed but I could imagine the Boardwalk would be popping during the high season. The staff were pleasant and accommodating. I’m terrible with names but special mention goes to Latoya, Rohan, John and the ladies at breakfast and front desk. The view of the cruise ships coming and going added an almost romantic touch. I didn’t go sea bathing but the beach is beautiful and well kept, and you can catch a beautiful sunset from the beach. The bar is well stocked though I don’t partake much, and the food options at the bar were delicious!! Those wings and shrimp tacos; chef’s kiss. I opted for breakfast included and it was pretty good; a well rounded selection. The dinner menu could have been more diverse but it’ll do.

More than a few times I witnessed the staff openly bickering. I understand these things happen but it was worrisome to see some so disgruntled.

The hotel is perfectly situated in the middle of Phillipsburg on Front Street, and the beach is immediately in the back of the hotel. The staff was professional, friendly, and responsive. During our stay, we asked for additional blankets, which were brought up to our room while we were on the beach. We also arranged to rent a car for the day, and the hotel staff made all of the arrangements; the car was delivered to the hotel and then picked up from the hotel once we were done. The beach staff are very friendly and attentive. We enjoyed having snacks and drinks beachside. The hotel restaurant is very good. We included breakfast with our stay, and I highly recommend doing that, as we looked forward to the breakfast each day. We also had lunch and dinner at the hotel restaurant, and they were excellent. During our stay, we ate out at various restaurants in and around Phillipsburg, and the hotel restaurant was the best quality.

Holland House is right in the center of town. It has the beach right out back. You can access buses and taxis without any issue. The staff are absolutely wonderful and extremely helpful. We have been staying here for a number of years now because of the staff.

The rules changed around Service charge you will see on your restaurant or bar bill. We did not learn this until our last day and were horrified to find out it did not go to the servers. We always tip up in addition to the Service charge, but as an addition not as their ONLY tip. What are we being charged for if the Service charge is not going to the wait staff???? This practice needs to stop.
