We LOVED everything about the property! Miguel and Adriel made the entire stay feel like a 10 star experience… the hospitality was so excellent it made you forget it wasn’t even an elevator there lol…. we will definitely be back!! Book it if you plan on goin to Old San Juan, trust me you won’t be disappointed

The staff was so friendly, welcoming and helpful, truly a delight. The open bar was a lovely surprise. My room was comfy and clean and quiet. The hotel is in a great spot in the old city

The water in my shower didn’t get hot, only lukewarm

Every one on the staff that I came in contact with was so nice, made me feel very comfortable in their hotel.

If I was to stay again I would ask for a room away from the restaurant that was under my room window (people eating outside where loud until very late).

I love the fact that the bar is free and open for us 24/7. During our stay, we had an incident where the 2nd floor (where we were in) had a slight flood because of some broken pipe right above our floor, I told them about it and they immediately gave us an amazing room and serviced the whole floor. Great service. Worth the stay.

Just wished the bathtubs up on the roof was a hot tub instead.

We loved the location, it was within walking distance to everything, we only used uber for traveling to the beach and LaPlacita(nightlife). We loved the rooftop deck, it had a very nice view and breeze, I could easily fall asleep there. Bed was very comfortable and TV was huge. The staff was attentive and never let us forget to grab a drink at the open bar. I also liked that at checkin and checkout they would take your bags and tag them so you could go out enjoy while waiting for your room or car to airport. We could also still use the facilities and get drinks while checking out. We also got to keep the bracelet they give you at check in which was a nice little momento

Didn't like that we had to go up those stairs after a late night or full day of exploring. But atleast we got our exercise which balanced out the drinks and food we consumed.

Some street noise can get into the room, but it's quite quiet around the hotel.

They literally treat you like family! The management at this boutique hotel was beyond amazing and better than a lot of 5-star hotels that I have visited worldwide. The key here is they are a boutique hotel. This stylish boutique hotel is clean, safe, well decorated and is nestled in a perfect location in the heart of San Juan! I am a corporate event planner and have traveled worldwide to review hotels. My stay at El Colonial was a personal one, but I would definitely recommend this hotel to others both professionally and personally when visiting San Juan.

There is absolutely nothing to dislike at this hotel. My only complaint is not actually a complaint at all. They kept saying they are a "3-star hotel that offers 5-star service". They should say they are a 5-star BOUTIQUE HOTEL that offers 5-star service!

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful whenever needed, the 24/7 access to the rooftop for a beautiful view and nice way to relax. Also, the complimentary open bar with multiple options for drinks with little to no wait. The room was a good size for the two of us and even had a balcony! We also loved the design of the building with the high ceilings in every room. It’s located right in the heart of Viejo San Juan, with everything close-by within walking distance. Would 100% recommend to anyone looking to stay in Viejo San Juan!

The only thing that we did not like was no elevator - but it was still okay! The hotel staff bring your bags to your room, the building is very historic so it makes sense. There is funny phrases to help you get up the stairs at least!

The hotel is very conveniently located in Old San Juan—with shops, restaurants, interesting architecture, and a waterfront surrounding. It is also very easy to get around from here by Uber or taxi to the beach or wherever else you may want to go in San Juan. The staff were all very friendly and went out of their way to be accommodating. The hotel has an amazing rooftop that guests can access—a great place to relax and unwind at the end of the day. Great views of the city, lounge chairs, etc. Be aware that there is no elevator— buildings in this part of town are centuries old, so if you have mobility issues I would keep that in mind. I would definitely stay here again, I had a great time.
