Very clean and comfortable, perfect for a one night stay on our trip before getting the ferry back to Ireland. We had a room with a gorgeous view over Caen. Very modern design and friendly staff. I requested an extra blanket and received it directly to the room within a few minutes. Excellent service.

It would have been preferable if there was designated parking for the ibis hotel as I had the impression there would be private parking upon booking. This is one of the main reasons I booked this hotel, so was surprised to find out prior to arrival that it is indeed a shared public car park with a nearby shopping centre and supermarket. In our case, having a fully parked car prior to embarking on the ferry back to Ireland, it wasn't ideal.

We stayed here (with pet dog) last summer as a convenient first night after arriving from the UK off the ferry late evening. Clearly, it was a good experience then because we did the same again this year - happily, with the same result - a very agreeable stopover. The staff were very helpful, the breakfast excellent, and the room perfectly comfortable.

The staff were so helpful. Room was clean and airy, air con was much needed. Breakfast was plentiful, basic but all you needed. Location could not have been better, close to the river and restaurants. A tram stop just outside the hotel to take you to the city.

The hotel's location is marvelous for those traveling by train - only 2 blocks from the entrance to the main train station in Caen. Our room was reasonably large and very well maintained. We loved the buffet breakfast - there were many choices of food and everything we tried was fresh and tasty.

There was no decaf coffee available on the breakfast buffet.

All aspects of our short stay (with our pet dog) went very smoothly. Quiet a late check-in (2230) was no problem at all. Parking was very convenient - a very short walk from the basement car park to the lift. Our rooms were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast options were also excellent. The dog was made very welcome too! The location is also very convenient - just a few minutes off the highway into Caen, but equally, just a few minutes easy and pleasant walk to downtown.

Nothing significant not to like, really.

The reception desk's host (from Bayeux) greeted us with so much good cheer that it brightened our entire stay. The hotel was a pleasant (but long) walk from Caen's main tourist sites, but the hotel's proximity to the train station helped us again and again with day trips to other parts of Normandy. Also, the hotel was quiet at night, and the breakfast was good.

It is a modern, practical hotel. Our room was spacy and the bed was also good. The brakfast is really good. Parking is solved, the night is for free, however, if you want too stay in Caen for the day as well it can be costly.

Windows cannot be opened (there is aircon and ventillation, so no real problem).

The hotel was clean, modern, value for money and at very convenient location. Many places to shop and eat in the area around. Parking right next to the hotel is easy once you learn the process, 6pm-9am is free. Breakfast was very good, we appreciated the pancakes and fresh juice. The room was bigger than excepted and very comfortable. The staff was very friendly.

The Wi-Fi! Very slow to non- existent internet, which could be difficult when you need to check your work emails.

Ok. The air con didn’t work and you can’t open the windows and it was a heatwave. BUT. They have in connecting rooms so travelling with the kids was great and the location, having just taking the ferry over from the U.K. was amazing. Several decent restaurants in the square behind the hotel, a play ground, 7/7 pharmacy open on Sunday. We are coming back! Please sort the air con (pr at least let us open the windows!

Air con didn’t work

There is a car park right under the hotel and is conveniently placed for access to the hotel. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was surprisingly spacious, light airy and clean. The bed was so comfortable we had such a good nights sleep. The hotel has discount at six of the local restaurants, bars and cafes right next door in the mall, well worth taking a photo at the front desk!! Just tell staff when ordering your meal so they can apply the discount. Great location and we asked for room overlooking the river front. Very convenient for town.

I think that the sat nav instructions should direct you not only to the hotel but to its car park. The underground car park is tight is you have a large vehicle, like we did, so careful on the corners!
