Campanile Caen Centre Gare

The personnel was very kind and they spoke English very well! The bar was nice, with good cocktails and large beers. Breakfast was good and convenient that it was until 11:00u on weekends. The parkinglot is small, so make sure to make a reservation, but it was private. So it was a good way to make sure we could park our car, and it was not as expensive as the public parking spaces.

The room was a bit narrow, so it was not very comfortable to walk around the bed. Also, we had a two person bedroom, but a sofa was unfolded into a one person bed, which mostly blocked the way around the twin bed. Small inconveniences, so we still had a good stay at this hotel!

Excellent well maintained modern and clean property. During our stay we had a technical issue where we got stuck for 45 minutes in a confined space. The owner and her husband came to the hotel and tried everything they could to get us out even though we were waiting for a mechanic. The husband of the owner eventually got us out. After we got out, because we were late to our dinner reservation they drove us to the restaurant. When we were eating they paid for our meal without telling us, as an apology for the situation. When we got back to the hotel, the owners had left a goodie bag with local products from the Normandy region in our room with a handwritten note to apologize for the situation. To the owners and staff my girlfriend and I want to say: Thank you for the way you handled the stressed situation with empathy. You are an example of excellent customer service, and we will definitely come back and stay with you again. Merci!

Probably had a recent renovation because everything seemed relatively new, such as beds, shower, toilets, electronics and so forth. The reception were also nice and helpful. Location was also good as it was a tram ride away to most attractions.

The parking was a bit awkward. We had to reserve in advance but that didn't mean we had a dedicated space. We were lucky to park in one of the open spaces but not sure how the other guests parked afterwards.

The staff were very helpful. We had assumed that we would be able to park at the hotel but as we had not booked this in advance the parking was full. Fortunately as it was a Sunday the receptionist helpfully advised us that we could park for free nearby. As we were leaving the following morning this suited us. The same helpful receptionist gave us a good recommendation for dining out as we wanted to explore Caen a little. The breakfast was very good.

It would have been helpful to know when we booked that if we wanted to park in the hotel car park we needed to book in advance. It would be good to have a dairy alternative to milk available at the breakfast for those who cannot drink milk due to intolerance or allergy. This was available in one of the hotels we used while travelling in France and is common in UK hotels. The room was very nicely decorated and exceptionally clean but was very small. Fortunately my partner and I are both small and slim.

As we were doing some trips buy train and bus the location close to the train station was perfect. Also there is a number of restaurants in the shopping center across the street in case one is too late or tired to go to the town center for dinner. The room is modern but on the smaller side, the staff is friendly and there was a nice breakfast buffet. There is also a bar and 24h snacks. We didn't miss anything.

Since it's about 15 mins walk to the city center or a few minutes to the next tram station that bring you there, the price (230€/night) felt a bit high. On the other hand we were glad to find a room as most other hotels seemed to be fully booked.

The hotel is clean, attractively designed (recently renovated) and well situated - you can walk to the castle and the main shopping/cafes area within 15 minutes. We had a family room which was a good size, with a really fantastic shower room. The beds were very soft and comfortable. Breakfast was unexpectedly good for a mid range hotel - lots of choice for all the family. The staff were friendly and very courteous; thanks to Fabian in particular for help with the room.

The car park is very small and you need to be good at manoeuvring your car to adapt to whatever space there is, although it’s great to be able to park on site in a safe space.

The breakfast was amazing both in content and value. The bar extremely well stocked and priced well. Lthe lounge comfortable with many games for children and adults provided.

The night porter who was too officious! Our dog and other dogs were allowed in the lounge during the daytime with no complaint (even of the sofas, he refused even to allow the dog on the floor. This prevented us from spending more money on the bar and watching the celebrations in Paris to mark the incoming new year.

Near the train station, great value for money. The room is tiny with the bed taking up most of the space but the bed itself is very comfortable; two singles pushed together, so no roll together etc. Hotel rooms are usually too hot but this was cool and you could control the temperature.

Breakfast was very basic. Lots of it but rather industrial fare. But what do you expect for the price? They say tea and coffee making facilities, but it is really just a coffee maker. Would have liked a kettle.

Breakfast was really good and complete. We liked the chill-out vibe of the hotel and the staff. We ate one evening the pizza and it was really good. We also really enjoyed the fact that we had Chrome Cast on the TV that we could use for our streaming services. At the reception when we asked to print some documents there was no problem and we appreciate it.

Just one detail, we had parking reserved and there was a guest that occupied two places by parking in the middle for two days and that upset us at first since there were no other places available but when we talked to the front desk they quickly got us a place by removing one of their own cars; we just think it could be a problem for the hotel itself if they let clients park wrong, we had our place solved, but it was unnecessary; we believe they should be more strict with the rules.

We only stayed for a night, but overall, the best breakfast we had on that trip and the most comfy and cosy stay. Rooms were very nice, modern and well decorated and the bathroom amazingly refurnished. Staff was really friendly and helpful.

The only think I didn't love was the location to be honest. Its not far from the old centre, but its not in the heart of Old town. The hotel is situated 20 mins walking from the most points of interest in the centre of Caen old town.
