Hotel Hellsten

Very friendly staff, the hotel has so much charm and character. You don't have tea and coffee facilities in your room but it is available from the lobby 24/7, and the sitting area is really nice there too. The bar is also good and we had some nice craft beers there. Breakfast was excellent, so much variety of food and well-stocked. It got quite busy around 9am most days but we always found a table. Our double room was a fine if a bit small. Another couple in our group booked the same type 'double room' as us though and got a larger room with a lovely balcony, so I guess it's just luck of the draw. Hotel location is great, plenty of bars, cafes and shops very close by and only a few minutes' walk to the nearest Metro station which we used daily. Would stay here again and recommend to others!

The bed wasn't the comfiest and I didn't like the pillow (too thin), but that's just my personal preference.

We had a fantastic stay at the Hellsten,the room was big, very comfortable bed, great shower, spotless clean, nice staff, good breakfast, great value for money, cool bar, Thursday night jazz, quality coffee machine in lobby, I'd messaged the hotel before we arrived to tell them of late arrival, which wasn't a problem, and also the double bed required as opposed to a twin which firstly I was told wasn't guaranteed, then Jennifer returned my inquiry to say the double bed was organised, we were in room 1205 which had a four poster with great furniture, lots of wardrobe and drawer space, 3 big windows with lots of natural light, location wise it's fine, 15 minute walk to the shopping district, 25 or so to Gamla Stan, with plenty of bus routes 5 minutes away, or the subway the same, the taxi office next door which is linked to the hotel I think brought us to the airport for 720 SEK which considering train from the airport 640 SEK then a cab to the hotel from the station was 160 SEK, was great value, I'd highly recommend booking a junior suite, we will definitely stay there again

The room was very clean. The position of the hotel was perfect as it was very easy to get to the city centre. The breakfast was very good and tasty. Something to get improved but generally speaking the hotel was pretty good. Thanks!

When we arrived at 2 o'clock am, the tall blonde girl of the staff gave us the key of a terrible room, much more different from the expected one and seen in booking. No space for moving inside, no forniture to put the baggage on. A wood made structure around the bed with dusty curtains everywhere. It was 2:30 o'clock when we decided to complain about the room. After that, we had a more confortable room, as it was on booking.com's site. Thanks for the quick reaction but a couple of tourists doesn't deserve such a treatment like that.

I loved the layout of the bedroom as well as it‘s eclectic decor. The Coffee Lounge off the Reception Desk was a welcome bonus, as was the ironing cupboard located there. The Breakfast Room was like a little glass igloo…quite lovely.

Our bathroom was extremely tiny given the size of the bedroom and so it was hard to maneuver for just one person, and impossible for two. The shower screen did not extend enough and so a flooded bathroom floor was impossible to miss. There was no airconditioning and so I needed to request a desktop fan from Reception since our room faced West and was absolutely sweltering when we checked in.

The breakfast was as expected although a little more attention could have been given to the hot food. The room was adequate but as we were on holiday with friends and had booked two similar rooms ours was at least 50% smaller so we felt somewhat hard done by. Location was perfect for restaurants, bars etc.

Every morning at 06.00 we were woken up to building work next door and noise from machinery outside. We mentioned this when checking out and was told the hotel were not informed this was going to happen. Perhaps a note of apology would have demonstrated the hotel cared about their guests.

The hotel is very well located. Not in the heart of the city, hence in a quiet environment, but very close to everything. The central train station is 2 stops away and Gamla Stan is 3 stops away from the Radmansgatan metro station, which is in 2-minutes walking distance (200 mt) from the hotel. To go to Djurgarden, you can walk for 4 minutes (350 mt) and take bus 67. We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The bed was comfortable and there was no outside noise, so we were able to sleep well. The room was very clean. Breakfast had a wide variety of options and the staff was always there in case any of them ran out. There was a free coffee option at the bar area, but we didn't have time to use it.

The double bed was two single beds joined together. The bathroom was a little too small to move around and had very limited space to put our stuff. These were not an issue for us, but could be a problem for some.

The staff was very nice and helpful. The room was small but clean and comfortable, the bathroom very clean and I liked that it had a heated towel rack. This is really helpful especially since the humidity is high in the area. You have plenty options for breakfast, it's a buffet and you can choose whatever you like. The location is great.

The furniture is a little outdated (even taking into consideration the intentional retro touch of the hotel), but it was really clean so I cannot say this should be a deal breaker.

The hotel was amazing. The location is perfect, as it is only a 2 minute walk away from a metro station, with good connections to all major tourist attractions. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance as well. The staff was incredibly friendly, helpful and forthcoming. Both when I contacted them before our stay but also during. The breakfast buffet was awesome. The hotel is very clean, the facilities are nice. We could not hear anything from neighbouring rooms or from the room directly above ours, which was amazing as well.

The hotel is in the heart of Stockholm and three underground stops away from Gamla Stan. Drottninggatan, the main shopping street, is a five-minute walk from the hotel. What my girlfriend and I loved about this hotel was the breakfast which was delicious and rich. The buffet includes a full English breakfast, cheese, fresh fruit and so much more. There is also a coffee machine in the lobby where guests can help themselves to a cup of coffee or tea free of charge, which is just great considering that coffee shops in Stockholm do not come cheap. The staff were friendly and went out of their way to make us feel at home. Rooms are thoroughly cleaned on a daily basis. In a nutshell, this hotel is really good value for money. If you are looking for a great place to stay in Stockholm, just go for this hotel.

This is by no means a complaint because we enjoyed every minute of our stay at this hotel. However, one thing that could be improved is the lack of availability of safe boxes in each room. As far as I understand, guests are given the opportunity of storing valuables in a different building where they are securely kept. Still, it wouldn't be such a bad idea to fit each room with a safe box. Other than that, the hotel is perfect.

The staff were all very friendly, helpful, and professional (and spoke excellent English), the breakfast service was excellent, and the hotel was conveniently located near the metro and within easy walking distance from the downtown core and several great restaurants. Indeed, I really can't thank the staff enough for all the help they gave me over the course of my stay, as they regularly went above and beyond to make sure that all my questions and concerns were answered satisfactorily - and I'll remember my time in Stockholm fondly as a result.

While there were no issues with cleanliness, I was a bit confused and disappointed by the style and quality of the furniture and decor throughout the hotel, which seemed to be little more than a random collection of second-hand items from different parts of the world (and often in rather poor condition). Some of the walls also seemed to be in need of a fresh coat of paint, while the lobby was too dark for my taste (and therefore rather uninviting).
