Room Mate Mario

After being in Beijing for a very long time during Covid and having the chance to come visit Madrid after such a long time I needed somewhere convenient and familiar. Room Mate Mario was the best option for me and my expectations were exceeded by the super helpful staff who met on my arrival after a 15 hour flight. Kind and helpful and allowed me to practice my Spanish. The room was great, a good size for just me and balconies overlooking the quiet street were great for early morning sitting and relaxing. I would recommend this hotel its very good. Oh and breakfast was light and really good for what I was expecting from a continental breakfast. Definitely will stay again when is Madrid.

It went beyond my expectations. Well done Room Mate Mario there is little you could have done to make my stay better than it was. I am super appreciative as this was the first place I stayed after 3 years of lockdown in Beijing, China so it was the right choice for me.

Excellent customer service. Every single staff member has been professional and friendly. From the warm welcome by Noemi, (and early check-in) all the way to the lovely cleaning ladies. Also, superb cleaning standards. Location is ideal, 1 minute away from Opera station, next to Palacio Real

Some of the room/ facilities/ building features looked a bit "tired" Not of any impact to my accommodation, as I put cleaning first, treatment second, and anything else follows. However, if I need to explain my 8 out of 10, that might be because of scratches, marks, floors, doors, corridors etc. Mattress was not to my taste, but that is a personal preference.

The hotel was lovely. Our room was spacious and very clean. Huge comfortable bed. Big bathroom with amazingly powerful shower and plenty of toiletries. Lots of storage space and tea/coffee facilities. There was a safe and also a mini bar/snacks to buy and a fridge. Reception staff were lovely and very helpful. Great location for walking around Madrid.

Sadly the outside street noise spoilt our stay. We found it very hard to sleep. The hotel is on a lovely little side street but it seems to be used as a cut through by loud and very vocal locals (and tourists) all night. At around 1.30am every night the rubbish trucks arrived very noisily and one night at 3am there seemed to be a collection of bottles.. Staff on reception were apologetic and said sadly they had no control over this but I got the impression we weren’t the only people to mention it to them. There was some noise from adjacent rooms and people arriving back in the early hours but we expect that in a hotel and that alone would not have been a problem.

It was a good hotel. I liked my stay a lot - Staff: really friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed them - Beds: big and comfortable, so confy - Location: Very close to Opera, walking distance to everything, that was the plus

- Wifi: not good, was disconnecting often. That i did not like - View: Maybe it was my room but the view was basically inexistent. Felt kinda bad about it - Bathroom: It was good overall but the glass that was supposed to hold the water during shower was not doing its job, every shower meant a huge amount of water in the shower. Maybe some maintenance there. But hey, it was a good bathroom

Location of the hotel is superb; you are minutes away from most of the must see places in Madrid. La Gran Via, La Puerta del Sol, The Royal Palace/Catedral, the Opera, Plaza Espana. and best of all the Opera Metro station a half a block away that will get you anywhere you want to go in Madrid and beyond. The staff from the reception to the service personnel at the breakfast room and room services were attentive and helpful in every instance. My brief contact with the manager of the hotel, Ms. Tsouma told me why there was so much attention from her staff to providing the best quality service they could provide.

A bit of inconvenience with the bathroom were the shower wetted the entire area because the half glass partition did not keep the water from splashing allover the floor.

The staff were excellent! Nothing was too much trouble. They even did our restaurant reservations for us. For places that are not able to accommodate us because we have a baby, they even looked for alternatives. When I lost my earring, they found it for me. Their location was in a prime spot as we were even able to come home to rest as it was very warm and then go out again in the evenings, everything was very close and within walking distance. The place was so vibrant and lively as well as it was near to a small plaza where people gather and meet. The room was made so personal by the personalised card left in the room along with some chocolates.

If anything, and this was such a minor thing and wasn’t even an issue at all, it was the airconditioning unit. When we first arrived, the room was so very warm. It took a while but the room eventually cooled and was perfect.

Location was perfect! Near the shops, restaurants, supermarket next to the hotel and a very quiet area. Metro was a 2 minute walk. Room was bigger than I expected and they were very attentive with welcoming me and a nice gesture before my departure.

A minor detail: wifi connection was not super! I had to make some work calls and that was sometimes an issue but if you are there for vacation and need to check your socials at night it is perfect.

The hotel staff is terrific and so very helpful. The location was less than a five minute walk from the Royal Palace with a supermarket next door and launderette across the road. The area felt safe and was clean. The hotel itself is not huge but internally looks pleasant and modern. The room was not huge but served it's purpose. The room was cleaned well and the hotel provided a more than adequate selection of toiletries. The bed was also very comfortable. There is a metro station a very short walk from the hotel and roads leading to various tourist destinations, such as, Gran Via, Plaza Espana, Temple Debod along with a selection of multiple restaurants, all within walking distance.

A couple of things. There appeared to be a slight crack in the shower tray causing a murky watery substance to leak through at times, which would wash away when the shower was run so wasn't a huge issue. Some nights running water could be heard from adjoining pipes, which resulted in an interruption to sleep during the early hours.

The location was amazing as we were literally minutes from Plaza del sol as well as the Gran via and Plaza Mayor. Also a wonderful plaza right next to the hotel for food / drinks and shopping as well as a main lovely street lined with shops and dining leading to the main hot spots. Plus a locall grocery story 2 doors from the hotel. The staff are the best in regards to customer service to ensure your comfort

everything was perfect! Would definitely stay there again.

Hotel Room Mate Mario is located downtown Madrid, in nice street near Opera vibrating with traditional and maintained architectural charm. The entrance is welcoming and so is the attentive and friendly reception staff. For a 2-star hotel Room Mate Mario offers you more than you expect. The room was small though comfortable and the bed was great. Bathroom facilities were small but clean and functional. Breakfast has a large variety and high quality and exceed my expectation. High value for money!!

Cold water pressure in the shower 106 was low making it difficult to balance hot and cold, resulting in quite hot showers. The Draft Fan was a bit noisy and should operate independent of the light.
