Riu Plaza España

- location is perfect and the hotel is impressive - the panoramic view is breathtaking - the bed is comfortable - what we had for breakfast was always very tasty - the fastest check out from my entire experience

- what i would improve is the variety at the vegetable/ salads stand at breakfast

Although asking in advance, we didn’t get any rooms, we reserved. 2 weeks emailing were not enough to get 3 quiet rooms, next to each other reserved. I especially asked for some nice little decorations cause my husband had birthday on the arriving day. we didn’t get that. As for the last day, Although they were not full, it was a headache to get a late checkout .( paid late checkout) )Most of the employees are very kind though and helpful. rooftopbar is open for everyone so a disaster to find a place for hotel guests. should be organized cause it’s depressing . should not be open for anyone every day.

Amazing location right opposite plaza de espana. Hotel staff were very friendly and personable. Very happy with the room size, much bigger then I expected and had amazing views over the plaza. House keeping were exceptional, the room felt brand new every single day. I ordered 2 burgers off the room service menu and was incredibly impressed, delicious burgers and chips and provided plenty of condiments, cutlery napkins. Rooftop top bar does get very busy during the evening but that’s only because it is very good, went there during the afternoon once and had a lovely chat with one of the staff there who was incredibly accommodating with of us. All in all an excellent hotel and will be going again in the future

The only one bad point about this hotel is that there isn’t a card system to enter the hotel overnight. Every hotel I have stayed in you just present your card to a sensor and it opens the doors, with Rui you need to knock on the door or ring the doorbell to attract the security member off staffs attention who will open the door for you. It feels a little like coming home from a night out when staying at your parents 😂

From the moment we walked into the lobby to the time of check out we were treated to top notch professionalism, courtesy and kindness. Well staffed, so that there was always someone to help/guide you. Our room was large with plenty of storage and amenities. Safe didn't work and was immediately addressed as was the clog in the sink before we even had a chance to unpack. Breakfast exceeded our expectations. Variety and quality of food was amazing. The entire hotel was run like a well oiled machine. Will recommend to anyone and everyone!!

Location fantastic - premium room on 20th floor was incredible with stunning views over the city. Spotlessly clean room - fabulous bath - super quiet snd comfortable

This hotel is massive and was packed to the rafters - over 1,000 guests - so (functional) breakfast was like a conveyor belt. Lacked any atmosphere. Food ok. Difficult to get any help from staff as they seemed very stretched - although always super polite. The rooftop ‘swimming pool’ is a joke. It’s a paddling pool stuffed to the gills with kids. With families cramped around. We jumped on the metro to the public open air pools in casa del campo - a necessity in 40 degree heat! They were spacious, spotlessly clean and a couple of euros for the day. There was a quieter roof top sun deck at the Riu which was virtually empty. The bar on the sky deck was one to avoid. Pounding music and stuffed with people. Will def come back to stay at Riu as a great base for Madrid

The view was great, staff were lovely. We had daily access to the pool and it wasn’t too busy, didn’t have trouble getting a bed at all. Breakfast was nice and never had a long wait to be seated. There was a pride festival concert going on outside when we arrived that went on until around 2am but with the windows closed the noise didn’t bother us at all!

The rooftop is open to the public so it’s obviously very busy and we didn’t really get a chance to enjoy it properly as there are so many people just taking pictures. Quite a long wait for drinks due to how many people are there. Guests do get priority when it comes to being seated though which is a positive.

Perfect location near Royal Palace, shopping, restaurants, Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor. Spectacular views from upper rooms and sky bar. Modern, clean, comfortable room with superb service. Good breakfast with extensive buffet choices and excellent staff.

High tech elevators were a bit annoying. Lobby is small for such a large hotel so frequently crowded. Energy efficient room, so powered down when vacant. While supportive of the green approach, this made it impossible to charge electronic devices when out of the room. Perhaps a single outlet for low energy draw could be left enabled.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this hotel, and I must say, it was a fantastic experience from start to finish! Every aspect of my stay was enjoyable, and I can't wait to share my positive feedback. The hotel's ambiance was inviting, and my room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with all the amenities I needed. What truly set this hotel apart was its exceptional staff. The team members were warm, friendly, and always ready to go the extra mile to ensure guests' satisfaction. From the reception desk to the restaurant and the concierge, every staff member seemed genuinely dedicated to making my stay memorable. They were very professional but also personable, making me feel valued as a guest, staff was incredibly attentive and proactive in accommodating my requests. Their professionalism and willingness to assist with any queries or concerns I had made a lasting impression on me.

Fabulous hotel. Great location for walking around central Madrid, next to tube station and hop on hop off bus stop. Also next to a lovely park which leads you to plazas and the palace Excellent selection of food and drink for breakfast and every one of the staff we met were friendly, helpful and hard working. Extremely helpful, polite door staff. The sky bar shouldn’t be missed but it’s extremely busy and the staff are under pressure to accommodate everyone. However there is a good selection of bars in the hotel which are very good.

A minor detail that the lifts are different and take a little time to get used to and can be busy but takes nothing away from this top notch hotel.

After staying 6 nights at the RIU Plaza Espana, I was extremely impressed with how hard the staff worked to make our stay a very pleasant one. The breakfast buffet was excellent, with numerous food offerings for many diverse tastes. The room was good size and very clean. This is not a small boutique hotel, but a very large hotel that caters to both numerous tourists and corporate meetings so it can get crowded at times. As someone visiting Madrid for the 1st, the location of the hotel across the street from a subway station made it very easy for my wife and I to get around the city. There is also a varied assortment of restaurants in the area and a nearby grocery if you plan on staying a number of nights.

The 360 bar on the 27th floor has a great view, but if you're seeking out a place for a relaxing drink, this is not the place. Understandably it gets very crowded.
