If there's a place that epitomizes the pinnacle of hospitality and attention to detail, it is The Thatch House Hermanus. My stay here was nothing short of magnificent, from the grandeur of the premises to the nuances of their service. Firstly, let’s talk about the food. Every meal was an exquisite journey of culinary delight, masterfully crafted and presented. The flavors, the freshness, and the creativity left us eagerly anticipating every subsequent meal. However, what stands out most from our stay was an unexpected turn of events that showcased the exceptional character of this establishment. We inadvertently left behind a pair of shoes upon checkout. Before panic could even set in, Kim, a true gem of an employee, was on top of it. Not only did she promptly locate the shoes, but she ensured they were shipped back to us in record time. Such gestures of genuine care and professionalism are rare and speaks volumes about the ethos of The Thatch House Hermanus. A hotel can be luxurious, but it's the people and their unwavering dedication to guests that truly elevate an experience. Thank you, Kim, and the entire team at The Thatch House, for making our stay memorable in more ways than one. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking an unparalleled experience in hospitality. We will certainly be returning!

- Amazing Rooms (Huge) - Great views of the lake - Staff very friendly - Great Interior design
- Wifi was terrible - very hard to connect and once connected the signal drops off once phone is locked. - Food was ok - considering the quality of other hotel menu’s at this price I think it could be improved a fair bit. I.e fresher and more seasonal, had the same dish of the day during our 3 day stay and most of the menu pretty salty/our fish main was very undercooked.

After many years travelling and staying at many hotels we can only say: THAT Was THE HOTEL! Very quite location, in front of a lagoon. The room was enormous and fantastic, really comfortable, with all Kind of details (including books!!!). The common areas were as well do cozy and well decorated. Dinner & breakfast really good. But the best... The employees! Thanks for everything, it was FANTASTIC!
Just the Wi-Fi was too slow. Maybe to improve: a jacuzzi would have been ideal in such lovely place!

beautiful rooms and common parts designer furnished, set out in wonderful grounds with lawns down to the lagoon and mountains at the back. Rooms are enormous, staff couldn't be more helpful and solicitous, making bookings and suggestions. All together a delightful place to stay.
We stayed in July so wintertime in SA, and there is air conditioning which can be used for heating but only once you switch it on, so rooms can be cold when you get up in the morning.

Staff attention to detail was out of this world. Always someone on hand to greet you, welcome you hand, arrange breakfast/dinner. We were very kindly upgraded to a lake view room from the one bed mountain room that we had actually booked, which was a wonderful surprise given the size of the room! Great breakfast included within the cost. We also had dinner at the hotel too. As we were the only ones dining we were asked if there was anything we wanted to specifically request given the chef would be cooking just for us. Honestly such a great stay. Thanks so much.
That we stayed a little longer ;-)

Absolutely stunning! One of the most impressive hotels we’ve ever stayed in. All rooms had incredible decor. The property oozed luxury. The service and food matched the surroundings.
From the website we thought there was a gym on site. It states fitness centre on booking.com and cardio gym in the on-site guest info. This wasn’t the case. This was the only fault we could think of.

Everything. This place is visually and in practice, paradise on earth.
Please, Please, Please, renew your restaurant menus. I don't mean the actual food. I mean the actual paper menus, I mean, typos, double spacing, crumbling and rolled over corners, a stack of paper that represent the only stain in an otherwise outstandingly perfect experience. It might be because I work for the editorial industry, but it has been nearly a week and I am still thinking about that one double spacing on your description of eggs benedict and I really feel like that is a de-service to the natural beauty of the place, the house and the hard and pristine work of Kim Mikaela and the team. For the love of all that is beautiful, please. all the best

The Thatch House exceeded our expectations. I'd recommend anyone looking at this property to take a look at their website for imagery, these do not do it justice! Staff we excellent and consistently went above and beyond. Our only disgruntle is that we only booked for 1 night! We'll certainly be returning and cannot wait to do so.
Length of stay!
