Van der Valk hotel Den Haag Wassenaar

The hotel is being rebuilt, and they warn that at the moment it is a bit of a construction site, but that was no problem at all for us. We had a large room on the ground floor which was nice as there are no elevators just now (I'm sure they will be back soon, but check if you are booking in 2023 and you need one). Breakfasts were good, and the hotel dining room was a fine place for dinner. When our plans changed and we stayed an extra three days the hotel staff were very accommodating in finding a room for us. The location is great if you are driving to mutliple places in Holland as we were, but it is not walking distance to anything. That said, the village of Wassenaar is a nearby delight, and you can enjoy walks in the dunes and a lunch or dinner by the seaside in nearby Scheveningen, Wassenaar or Katwijk ann Zee.

Nothing.

Location was less than ten minutes away from our meetings. Front desk and housekeeping were friendly and very helpful. We liked very much the 2 bottles of water in our fridge that were replenished daily. The lobby had unlimited coffee until that machine was used to replace the broken one in the dining area.

Limited selection at the restaurant. Breakfast was great but it was the same everyday. We were there for 5 mornings… so we had the same things every day. On the third day, we’d have loved something different. The restaurant had very limited selection. On nights when we were very tired and would have just preferred to dine there, we had to reconsider. Ate twice at the restaurant for dinner and that was pushing it. A real pity because the location was really close for our meetings. The place is under construction so even though we paid for a room with a terrace, we were given one that was facing a construction site and a garden that needs sprucing up. I would have loved a quieter side with a better view.

Breakfast was great sometimes the timeslot was difficult but just had to book early. We had dinner and it was excellent as well! All the staff were very helpful and friendly. Everything was realy very good.

Nothing realy - we understand the dutch enjoy their coffe - the british enjoy tea (with milk) so full marks for having english breakfast tea and we brought up some milk and bigger cups from the restaurant

The room size and facilities were very good, the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful, the breakfast being offered in the garden pavilion was exceptional. I found that even during the renovation, the standards were still being kept to a very high standard. This was our first time in a Van der Valk hotel, and it won't be our last. Thank you very much for a very pleasant and comfortable stay, and say thank you to all your staff for the hard work that they put in too 😀👍😁👍

The rooms were spacious and clean, the hotel has a homey feeling, everything was running ok, despite it being in full renovation/expansion mode (we slept Fri to Sat so no works going on). Convenient next to road. It's being renovated (spring 2023), so the surroundings are not nice for the time being. Breakfast was rich and good.

Our bathroom was new, but super cold. We were freezing (spring 2023).

We had an overnight stop here and arrived early - the lady on reception was very helpful with directions in to the centre and let us park our car while we walked in (4km). There is work going on but there was very little noise though parking is restricted. Our room was spacious and the bed lovely and comfortable - the price included a splendid breakfast.

Obviously the renovation work affects the general impression but the staff and comfort of the room makes up for it

The room was perfect to spend the nights during a work-related stay. I especially liked the renovated bathroom and the wonderful breakfast. Besides that, it is convenient to have "The Mall of The Netherlands" so close for evening meals.

The parking wasn't very handy, but I'm sure that this is only a temporary thing because of the renovations to the hotel.

Very nice hotel near the motorway and very close to train station - 30 min to Amsterdam, train goes every 20 min/24h. Leave your car at the hotel and go to Amsterdam by train - much better than by car, you will save lot of money on parking fees in the city center. You cannot feel the size of the facility. Great breakfasts. Nice and clean swimming pool area. EV chargers next to hotel.

I hope this hotel gains growing attention.It is successfully renovating but it is already a worthwhile experience! Wide and cosy rooms, furnished and decorated with taste and style, wide bathrooms , all for a small price. Breakfast is absolutely fantastic. You can rent the hotel bikes and reach the town center in 19 minutes crossing the fascinating Haagse Bos.

Should have stayed longer.

The breakfast pavilion was just gorgeous!! I felt transported :) The breakfast itself was very good!

it is still a building site - and comes with drawbacks. I do understand however the need to stay open during the construction. We were only there for one night and there wasn’t any construction noise at night (sic!) - all good!
