Hôtel de l'Abbaye Lyon - Boutique Hôtel

The property is in a good location and overlooks an abbey that was established over a 1000 years ago (hence the name) It has obviously only been renovated fairly recently and the fit out is lovely Although the rooms are fairly small, they are very well appointed and they have all the amenities you need. The property is very well maintained and the rooms were very clean and tidy

Nothing about the property. However we were told on two seperate occasions that breakfast was included with our room. When we checked out we found we had been charged for it. When we queried it we were told we must have misunderstood ??? Not a big deal but leaves a bad taste in your mouth

We absolutely loved the location, you’re only a short walk away from some of the best restaurants and bars! Our room was beautifully decorated and the view of the abbey from our window was lovely! The bed was so comfy and very clean. We had some issues when we first arrived but the lovely Marine sorted them out right away, she was great! The little bar downstairs is such a nice cosy spot to have a pre dinner drink and a chat as well and the champagne they have is just delicious. All in all, a fantastic little stay! We will be back!

The bells from the abbey are quite loud but that can’t really be helped! It’s best to just enjoy them, they don’t go on all night either so it’s absolutely fine and you can definitely get some sleep!

The building is beautiful and inside is a good mix of modern while maintaining old charm! We were well received and our room was ready a bit early which is always great. They are pet friendly with extra charge of course like most place The room was extremely clean as well as the bathroom we got great recommendation for bars and restaurants! Bed and pillows really good quality!

The room is small and not much storage. For our 2 nights it was fine but for longer that would definitely be problematic The bathroom is quite small as well which meant that the hooks for the towels and bathrobes were right above the toilet...

One of the best boutique hotels throughout the Europe in my heavy travels. 1) great location, short walk to both river sides and so close to subway yet super quiet neighbourhood. 2) best meal I had in Lyon is actually the hotel restaurant, certainly worthy of Michelin guide. 3) room is not big but comfortable, spotless and all non-alcohol beverages in the minibar are free. 4) the most important amazing stuff, all speaks perfect English, quick email response, and great restaurant recommendations. Just overall, a wonderful stay

Beautiful boutique hotel with very high quality furnishing and amenities in the room. Staff were also very friendly and helpful.

Parking is a little far from the hotel which is not an issue if you plan to leave the car in the garage during your stay. A little surprised we had to return the parking garage card as we checked out as we had actually planned to spend a little more time in the city after checkout and we had only checked in in the evening so would have thought one would at least have the full 24-hour for parking when paid for.

The hotel is in a quiet street which makes for a peaceful night's sleep. It has good transport links as it is near the Ampere-Victor Hugo station, Lyon-Perrache Gare and not a far walk to Bellecour. It is also convenient to walk to either side of the river for restaurants and experience some local life and visit the Roman theatre remains or Basilique and churches. I particularly liked the modern design of the bedroom and bathroom as well. The hotel restaurant L'Artichaut is also worth trying while staying there. There are many hidden gems such as artisanal bakeries and bistros around the area to explore. Rue Victor Hugo and Bellecour area nearby has all the shopping and cafes you need. The staff is very friendly and spoke great English, which helped us a lot! Hotel had good wifi too.

The breakfast service we had was slightly chaotic. Maybe the hotel is a little understaffed but the servers could do with a little more initiative in replenishing food and drinks for the breakfast buffet and asking us for coffee/tea rather than us going up to them to ask for it. The scrambled eggs were great the first time round but when asked to replenish, it took a long time for the kitchen to come out with it and when it did, it was very salty.

Everything went well. I booked it at last minute and arrived almost at 10pm. Even though, I've got a very warm welcome. The room is super comfortable, good shower, and the bed is just amazing. Also, some non-alcoholic drinks were available at no cost. Just a nice plus, right?. ;-) I would definitely stay there again for sure.

The ONLY thing you have to keep in mind is that, if you are driving, you'll need to leave you luggage at the hotel and then, drive to an external underground parking around 600m from the hotel (EUR 25 per night). The underground parking is pretty good, but well, keep in mind you'll have to walk 8-10 min back to the hotel. Not a problem is the weather is good, though.

Nice hotel in the city center... not far from tourist attractions... facilities were very nice... comfortable and well appointed room... friendly helpful staff... nice buffet breakfast.

no complaints... one word of warning to travelers arriving by car... parking could be difficult to find. We were lucky to arrive on a quiet Sunday afternoon so there was parking on the street adjacent to the hotel. The street was much busier when we left Monday morning and it would have been difficult to find a spot to park.

Location a delight next to the old church and near the gorgeous river views. loved our room on top floor overlooking the terracotta church rooftops. Very near to Metro and easy walk from main station Pennache. Quiet at night and great restaurant downstairs and nearby. Staff were all so helpful and patient with all of our questions ready to help and advise on transport restaurants, main sites to visit. we could tell they all liked their jobs as cheerful and made it feel like home.

A little hard to access the main entrance with large luggage as a few steps up, but not a major problem.

A lovely boutique hotel in the heart of Lyon, within walking distance of the old town and both rivers. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating and allowed us to store luggage with them while we explored Lyon, as well as facilitated an earlier check in for us on arrival. The room was large and spacious, neat and very clean. Aircon was welcomed as it was summer. The bathroom was adequate and clean with all the amenities you might need. There was a good spread for breakfast and the hotel itself is beautifully decorated and has everything you need. I would recommend it if you are looking for a small establishment in Lyon.
