Operating since 1909 (and listed on the National Register of Historic Places), this is a quaint, rustic throwback to early 20th century inns. If you're looking for modern with A/C, elevators and all the amenities, this is isn't for you. But if you're looking for a real experience of the U District, this is a great way to get into the swing of things. You're right in the heart of the U District and reliving college life. Lots of great eateries, bars, etc. and you're across the bridge from Seattle and the Space Needle. Do something different, give this place a go. Relive your wild college days while you're at it.

Not much to dislike although walking up and down stairs can be a little inconvenien (especially with suitcases), but you get in your daily exercise!

The location is perfect for any visit to the University of Washington campus. Though the room was on the small side, it was clean and comfortable. (NB: I booked on of the "private" rooms with a bathroom en suite.)

The bathroom en suite was generally fine overall, but the hot water was inconsistent in the shower. It's also worth noting (though it didn't really bother me) that stays of less than seven days don't get a change of towels (or made beds) without paying an extra fee.

The location was great! quiet but still close to amenities. The room was clean and updated. For the price, the service, comfort, and facilities were very pleasant. The coffee shop and restaurant downstairs were very convenient! We loved the big windows that opened up for fresh air. Very close to the Burke Museum, which was well worth a visit.

The free coffee in the shared lounge upstairs was undrinkable for someone who really enjoys high-quality coffee. There was no elevator given it was a beautiful heritage building but that was known and expected.

The location is fantastic. We happened to be here the week after UW gradation so we parked on street no problem. Checkin was super easy and there is an after hours checkin should you arrive late. The room was great, updated but nostalgic. There was virtually no sound from the other rooms and just a little from the street. We are a family of 4 and had a 2 bedroom location, which was plenty of room. The location to buses and access to the rest of the city was wonderful. There are many college dives for eating and drinking, my husband continued to want to try them all, well past the point of no return. There are some great spots within walking distance, Burke Museum, UW library. We would easily stay here again. Be sure to check out the shared communal floor. We didn’t do this until the last day, coffee and hot chocolate!

The windows in the rooms are gorgeous, but check the locks. Our kids wanted to sit on the bench with the windows open, but they are too rambunctious. Just a wee too easy for a little guy to slip out. There are more people on the streets here than other spots in Seattle. There was no one camping, and no one approached us, but depending on where you’re from this might catch you off guard. We never felt unsafe though.

Being able to make a hot drink after walking around the city was great. Help and advice given when asked.

For my requirements and the modest cost of being there was good. Perhaps a little more direction about, for example, the light rail for getting to various places would have helped. I did find out for myself, but was half way through my stay then. Also, learning that many places don't take cash, but card only.

The location is great. walking distance to UW and bunch of restaurants & bars. The room facilities have a classy feeling, while being clean and updated. The kitchen/dining/reading spot is awesome!

Stayed for 7 days. My room has shower. For 2 of the 7 days the shower water was not hot enough (just warm-ish). The time was around 7-8 AM. I was able to enjoy hot shower when the situation get better at 9AM. Want to acknowledge that the weather was snowy and freezing cold during my stay, that may caused the above situation. But I didn't expect it to happen since this is a such great and tasteful place. If any College Inn people see this, get it fixed please!

The area was great. It only takes 5-10min to get to the light rail and 20min to downtown. In the area are many local restaurants where it was hard for me to decide where to eat for dinner. The room was comfortable and clean, the bathrooms too. The living room area with the kitchen had everything I needed for dinner and they served coffee and tea 24/7 which I loved. I felt safe all the time.

I liked the hotel all in all but I would have liked it if the showers could be looked.

the location, right across from UW’s central garage, is outstanding for access to Uhood and the campus. while the hotel was a hostel-style lodging, with a shared common room and kitchen and shared baths for some rooms, and though the building was clearly old, it was a great find in Seattle. Check-in was easy and my room was spotless, comfortable, and cozy with my own sink, big desk, great big bed, and even an ironing board (!). The upstairs shared area was really well equipped and the coffee was ready at the crack of dawn (actually before). I didn’t mind the shared bathroom and never saw anyone else in it when I was there.

It would be nice to have more free parking but there was plenty in the area.

The Loft room is great for families- spacious, well-equipped kitchen, table that’s actually big enough for 4 people to sit and eat. Extremely convenient for visiting UW. Loved the sectional couch for lounging with the family.

On warm days (80F+) the Loft is HOT. We were out most of the time so it didn’t bother us. It’s also a 4th-floor walk-up - fine for us, but travelers with health issues should take note.

Great location, friendly staff, clean rooms that did the job for a one night stay. Comfy bed and liked the sitting area and sink in the room. Enjoyed walking around U of W campus and the accessibility to restaurants and cafes.

It’s a old historic hotel so it was a bit cold on a chilly evening. There was a heating unit but it took awhile for the room to get to a comfortable temperature. Wood floors made the room feel colder.
