Sandcastle Hotel on the Beach

Right on beach and close to everything, with very nice outdoor lounging area with gas powered fire pits. Very nice room that had a good layout with large bathroom. Lobby area had a cute bar- coffee- snack counter to serve the indoor and outdoor lounge area. Parking area to lobby entrance is really easy and close, with professional grade luggage carts available to use when moving in and out of room. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone traveling with elderly or children too.

$20 parking fee should really be included in price rather than treated as a separate line item charged at check in after paying for room online

Modern spacious room for 2 adults 2 teens. Lots of charging points. Top Floor with afternoon sun on the balcony overlooking the sea and pier, great. Just ate breakfast one day on ground level deck with fire. Pretty expensive for bagels and croissants. This could get busy with being open to the public but on the top floor there is a lovely deck with a fire, heaters, seating and loungers which is just for hotel guests. Parked on road as free, safe and always spaces. Great location right on beach and walkable to everything.

the rooms could use updating such as paint and upkeep lots of paint worn off through the room and bathrooms were looking old already. especially for those prices also they used to give us bottles of water complimentary with our stay this time none. the cafe was closed in the evening when we wanted hot chocolate to sit by the fire. the beds seemed to be worn out we sank into it and hard to get out. we’ve been staying here for 7 years and have noticed it going down the last two I usually always recommend this place but think our next trip we will try something new and a little better kept up.

My only criticism is that the rooms/bathroom specifically, was a little in need of remodeling. It's so hard to maintain places that are right on the beachfront with all the salt air so we were not too upset. However, may need a little sprucing up. Would not deter from staying here though.

Everything was great and the staff was phenomenal. They even upgraded our room to patio with partial view when I inquired about it. No up charge, no hidden fee. I would definitely stay here again.

There were a few minor things that were NOT deal breakers. 1) I noticed the room did have some wallpaper peeling. i feel like you pay a decent amount to stay here, that should be fixed because it’s the first thing you notice when you walk in. 2) We stayed in the very first room in the hallway and it got a bit noisy at times when ppl were walking by and groups of ppl laughing and being a tap bit loud. Maybe I’m a light sleeper when traveling lol but after 11pm it was so quite.

The Front Desk staff Richard , Janice, & Valerie really care about their guests !!! Richard had suggested a $ 16.00 upgrade to a beautiful room # 305 and my wife and I were very pleased. And Carlin { Restaurant Manager} was very helpful. This morning I met James Davison { General Manager} and we had a great conversation about our wonderful stay at the Sandcastle Hotel..Will be staying at this hotel next year in 2024 !!! Perfect location - can't beat it!! Overall a great property - clean, friendly, easy to get around, beautiful deck. I would just suggest updating lobby and rooms a little. Decor in lobby is very cluttery (I suggest a clean, open, beachy theme) and rooms could also use a little update. All in all though would definitely recommend!!

We stayed by lobby and you could definitely hear noise.

We stay at the Sandcastle just so we can be not only facing the beach and ocean, but be just a few steps to the beach. Much of the lodging at Pismo is a block to blocks away from the beach or on a cliff.

several times the smell of cigarette smoke and marijuana seemed be coming from adjacent rooms. If there is a no smoking in the rooms rule, it should apply to the balconies too.

Fantastic location, right on the beach and easy walking distance to most cafes and restaurants in Pismo. Room was clean and comfortable.

WiFi was poor. The complimentary WiFi was pretty bad (Max 3Mbps) and the paid WiFi (9 Mbps) did not provide steady bandwidth sometimes dropping quite low. I was using it for business video calls and had several issues during my stay. Front desk service was mediocre. They give you a number to text your requests and it never worked for us. Even after waiting overnight our requests were not fulfilled and we had to go directly to the housekeeping staff who were exceedingly nice.

Very modern cute hotel loved the outdoor patio with the gas fire pits right next to the beach. Excellent customer service and loved the little bistro.

The balcony to the room right next door is pretty much shared just a glass divider in between so I felt a little too close to the neighbors next door and lack of privacy. The bathroom door kept closing on itself but the floor or door was warped so if you opened the bathroom door all the way it would get stuck/wedged to the floor and stay open. The front door you really have to push or pull to make sure it’s fully closed if not you’re able to easily push/pull it open. The tv everytime I turned on a channel it would ask me every 5 minutes whether I’m still watching if I did not press ok it would go back to the home page of the weather channel. Not a big deal probably a fix in the settings just an annoyance
