Holiday Inn Express & Suites Albuquerque Historic Old Town, an IHG Hotel

This hotel is conveniently located off Interstate 40, near Old Town Albuquerque. It has its own parking lot which was patrolled by security, making it feel very safe. We requested a wheelchair accessible room and found it to be very well appointed and comfortable for my husband. The bathroom was very large and easy for him to maneuver around with his wheelchair. There was a roll-in shower with built-in shower chair and handheld shower sprayer. (Side note: The lighting in the bathroom was very dim... almost like "mood lighting"?? Making it difficult for shaving, applying makeup, etc) The room was very spacious and also easy for him to move around in his wheelchair. The room and the entire facility was clean and comfortable. The area was quiet and food options are within walking distance. We did not have the breakfast, so can't give any info on that.

The only thing we were disappointed with was the lighting in the bathroom. The lighting was so dim it was very difficult for my husband to shave or for me to apply makeup.

Convenient

Location was in a nice location near many food and drink options. I brought my two dogs with me and was placed in a pet-friendly, first floor room which I enjoyed. Front desk staff was helping another guest when I arrived, so I had a little bit of a wait, but otherwise, staff was very friendly, welcoming, and even gave me treats to give to my dogs.

Hotel is at an intersection and being on the first floor, I could hear the traffic at that light. While there was a pet area outside, the landscape is mostly rocks or gravel. I was directed to an area that had more grass but I couldn't find it. Not a deal breaker though. I would stay here again.

We really like staying here. This was our second time. Being in Albuquerque our favorite thing about this place is that it’s mostly fenced in and has security driving around. The hotel is clean the rooms are clean and the bathrooms are clean and the beds are comfy. We will return in the future.

They can really use more parking inside the fence. The later u arrive the harder it is to find a parking spot in the fence. For ladies, walking through the parking lot at night is not the smartest thing to do. It did smell like sewage when we arrived in the lobby. But we understand things happen and we didn’t hold it against the property. Our room didn’t smell and that’s all that mattered to us.

Comfortable bed, quiet room, great breakfast. Room/location was great for my pet and getting her outside.

I book rooms based on many factors, but one is the amenities, pool/hot tub. I received this message when I booked the room: We are so sorry to announce our indoor pool and hot tub will be unavailable during the thanksgiving holiday due to needed repairs. Pool will reopen on Dec 2nd. I arrived on Dec. 4 and was told the pool was NOT open. I was extremely disappointed, as this is a BIG reason I booked this hotel.

Close to a road so it was little noisy

The location is very convenient to so much in Albuquerque. I didn't rent a car and I was able to reach Old Town and Downtown very easily by foot, bus, and Lyft. (Side note: Coming from an area with a pitiful public transit situation, it was awesome to be able to use the bus here! Good for the environment AND the wallet.) It's also nice to have a Walgreens, convenience store, and Starbucks right there (not to mention a couple restaurants). The room was SUPER clean, with lots of great lighting, towels, and storage. That blackout shade was no joke! I wish I had that in my bedroom at home. When fully closed, it was nearly pitch black in the room (see photos). I had a great view of the Sandias from my window, too. The hotel supplies the following toiletries in the room: shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, small bar of hand soap. I went down to the breakfast a couple times and was not disappointed. The variety is great and everything tasted good. Everyone staff member I interacted with was very pleasant and helpful. The hotel is very nice in general and a great value.

The only thing I would have liked more was a better cable offering. Having more premium channels and/or OnDemand options would have been nice. This is a very minor complaint though and would not affect my coming back.

Everything. The location, the room, the staff, the facilities. I could not fault the hotel.

Parking was expensive there is Valet parking which were used. only issue was my Spanish mobile world not send an SMS to ask for the return of the car. everyone wanted their car the same time. reception would not contact Valet parking to help. so waited a long time to get the car back.

The guy who helped with our luggage from Montana was the sweetest man. He was very helpful with unloading our truck full of luggage and Informative about local attractions and restaurants. He even made sure we had a special parking spot away from other cars. Give this man a raise.

The guy at the check in desk laughed at me when I said I had to move money over before I paid. It was very rude. My friend had sent me money for her portion of the cost and I wanted to make sure it was in my account. What is there to laugh about.

The room and bathroom! The room looks new with bright light and is clean, and the bathroom is well lit and spacious. Their hot breakfast is really good, and they even have an automatic pancake-making machine! (But they do physucally close their door to access the breakfast on-time, so if you need breakfast, you have to go before they close the door.) They also have a small area in lobby where you can buy extra snacks (not a vending machine), which looks well stocked and organized. If we were in the same area again, we would stay at this place again!

Parking was an issue at night. Although they have plenty of parking that is shared with other stores in the same plaza, if you come back after 10 pm, you have to park a bit far. We stayed for 3 nights, and every night we had to park a bit far and walked in the cold weather in December. They offer free wifi, but I had trouble connecting to their wifi both in the room and in the common area (I have a Samsung S9+). The fact that we have a queen size bed at home, their queen size beds run on a smaller side. (But this may be the issue at New Mexico, because we stayed at 3 other places during the NM trip, and their queen size beds are all smaller than our queen size bed at home.)
