We arrived at the hotel just after dark and were given s'mores kits to toast on one of their firepits. It was a lovely way to arrive. The room was nice and large. The location is great. Although it is next to Fishermen's Wharf which is busy and full of tourist tat, it is a very convenient location for the Alcatraz ferry, ferries to other locations, the hop on hop off bus, sea lions etc. so still a great place to be. We loved the hotel as a base for exploring San Francisco and would definitely stay here again. There is no bar but there is so much space on the internal courtyard it's actually really nice to grab a few beers from the 7-Eleven next door and sit outside with them. There are lots of fun things for kids to do in the courtyard and a great games room. This is a very cool space for anyone travelling with older kids and teenagers.

Nothing. It's a great hotel.

Parking. If I’m paying $400 a night, I would expect to have free parking.

Parking was safe and guarded, the rooms were nice and clean, albeit a little worn and thin-walled. Receptionists were friendly and helpful, and the concierge gave superb recommendations! The courtyard looked really cool with the fire pits and we liked the modern design of the hotel in total. Wifi was excellent and without additional charge.

Rooms were thin-walled and doors were slightly worn, but all was clean and worked well. It would be nice to have signs on the walls, asking guests to respect quiet hours on the hallways. It would have been great to have the possibility of accessing Netflix/Prime via the tv.

Fantastic location, diagonally across Pier 39 and short walk to Pier 33, 3 mins. Room and Bathroom was clean. Nice entertainment facility for kids near reception. SMORES was a treat. Great help from Concerige, she's fantastic!!!!

Reception could do a better job such as answering questions on how to get to certain places in stead of waiting for the concierge when it is as simple as how to get the cable car station or help to break tge change for $100. Hyatt and Marriot are just down the street and prices were about there when I was booking this....so think it could be abit pricey for this hotel.

The staff were very nice, helpful and informative. There was a concierge to help plan your day and help book day trip pkgs. The cleanliness and cleaning crew were excellent. They have a welcoming lobby, a very large game room that seemed to always be busy.Kids were always having fun. They had board games and plenty of tables. They had a nice outdoor area with more things to do, games roast marshmallows, make s'mores, more games. There was also a gym. My sister and I played cards in the game room one evening , a man had come over and chatted a few minutes with us. He was very nice, we thought he was a quest also. We saw him the next evening as we were playing pool with our family. He was staff security. Our kids are adults, but feel it needs mentioning for people with younger children. He watched what was going on. I never felt unsafe before I realized he was there, but loved that he was.

The only reason it lost a star for me was the rooms were a bit dated.

The position of the hotel is absolutely central for many of the attractions of San Francisco. If you love cruises around the bay or to Alcatraz or to Sausalito, the hotel is in a very comfortable position, being located near the area called Fisherman's Wharf, from where many of these activities start. Then, it is not far from one of the main station of the historical Cable Car. Inside, the hotel has very comfortable common spaces: free hot water and free coffe in the hall is an appreciated service. Also the room is well organized: many shelves and useful surfaces, a bathroom large enough and a very soft and comfortable bed.

Nothing.

I always stay at zephyr when i have a business trip or personal. My visits to San Francisco mostly business and zephyr never let me down. Their cleanliness, nice non ourdated amanities and location is supreme. Self parking is very easy and convinient. All this for a very good price compared to other SF downtown hotels.

They said they upgraded the rooms and removed the fridges and microwaves. Thats not an upgrade sounds like a downgrade to me. I was talking to the front desk manager and told them I always come here for their standards and they were quickly found me an available fridge and microwave and sent it to my room. This is the level of wonderful customer service that you get in Zephyr.

I liked the outdoor space and that we were provided with free s’mores which was a very nice touch. it’s great for families, especially those traveling with teens. There is plenty of communal seating and there is a friendly and relaxed vibe. The location is good for Pier 39, Fisherman’s Wharf, the ferries to Alcatraz and Sausalito, restaurants, shops etc. There is an IHOP restaurant next door which seemed popular with the hotel guests for breakfast, it opens from 6am - 10pm The room was simple but modern and clean. I loved the aromatherapy soaps and shampoo. Staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. check in is at 4pm. We arrived around 2 and as the room was ready, we were able to check in early. Also loved the fun check list in the room for things to do in SF

Nothing to complain about.

Location is excellent, close to pier 39 and many restaurants. Also the cable car stop is not far. Games in the public area were very nice and welcoming. The fires lightened up every night gave a warm atmosphere and it was pleasant to spend the evening in the hotel. Pity there is no bar open after 9 pm.

The room dimensions are not really comfortable for a family of 4 people. The structure starts to be outdated, but this does not harm the comfort. The rooms are not entirely soundproof and you can hear something from (noisy) neighbours. All this however does not impair the quality of the stay, which is very high and with good value for money. I need to say that the wi-fi was not always working properly. I agree with other travellers that the price of the parking is too much, in particular compared to the surroundings. The staff at reception did not insist on "selling" me the parking service: this is highly appreciated.

Top-notch location as it's at the next street from Pier 41 (5-8mins walk from the famous Pier 39). You get 15% discount if you eat at some of the cool family owned restaurants at Pier 39 if you show discount cards given to you at the time of your check-in. Transport-wise, it's got bus stops and tram stops nearby. Its close proximity to Fisherman's Wharf means that you just need to look out for buses, trams or the cable car going in that direction to navigate properly to your stay. Added bonus of being one of the main stops for the Open Top Bus Tours and the other tour companies providing wine tours or tours to Muir Woods or around SF. Further added bonus is the Safeway, 7-11, Walgreens and CVS all within 1 min walking distance. One great tip from the hotel reception was to download the Muniapp (not the more popular Clipper app). This app allowed me to purchase the local transport card even though I was a tourist. I highly recommend purchasing the transport pass using this app via your own smart phone instead of the Clipper app - the cost difference is about double for a 1 day pass.

I am frankly hard pressed to find anything bad about the hotel since almost all my interactions with the hotel staff has been nice. Perhaps the only thing I can think of was the advise I got from them on my last day regarding the cost of the transfer arrangements to the airport. The receptionist told me to expect to pay a minimum of USD65 (USD 80 including tips) for the transfer, regardless of Uber or regular taxi service. I pre-booked my Uber about 3 hrs before my departure time and got my transfer at around US58 (without tips). Anyway, I believe this was the luck of a draw on my side so I wont say this was directly about the hotel.
