Hotel Gran Ultonia

Great breakfast selection! The room was clean, airco worked well but wasn't too loud. Location near the old centre is great! Lots of good restaurants and cafés nearby. Key to bike parking available upon request, and the facility includes a bike washing station and tools!

Lovely rooftop terrace, but it only opens at 18h. Also, when I told reception I was leaving early for a day trip and asked whether it was possible to get a breakfast pack to-go, a staff member said it would be ready for pick-up the next morning. It wasn't. Instead, I was told they don't do breakfast to-go. Had to leave on an empty stomach. They didn't charge me for the missed breakfast though.

We loved the roof terrace & the staff there & throughout the hotel were lovely. We had a huge room & bathroom & the hotel was in a prime position next to the old town. Toiletries were wonderful (body lotion on tap) & when we requested a kettle it was in our room immediately! Breakfast was great with lots of variety!

My only complaint is that our room had a sofa which was in dire need of refurbishment. Unfortunately it was the first thing you noticed on entering the room!

For a 4-star hotel it met all my expectations with regards to the room. What I can say really stood out was the attentiveness and service of the staff. They really went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed, from fixing a key card that wasn't working to sending up a tray with tea making facilities at our request. The cleanliness was very good as well. Another cherry on top was the rooftop terrace - amazing views from the top and a really stylish venue with good music, excellent bar staff and superb design. Another good thing to mention was the breakfast buffet, very nice with some local produce as well, and the breakfast staff were so attentive and cheerful, and were always clearing away empty plates, cleaning tables and replenishing the items in the buffet very quickly.

Comfortable room, lovely, friendly staff, good location with own parking (19€ per day). The hotel is well maintained and very clean. Breakfast is 16€ but we didn't try it, going over to the superb cafe Eiximenis opposite. The hotel is obviously one that is long established and all you could want for a comfortable 4* experience in the city centre.

Lovely big room but an 'accessible' one (329) which meant the door to the bathroom was a heavy, sliding one (maybe too heavy for a wheelchair-user?) with the light switch outside and unreachable once inside with the door closed, meaning disturbing partner's sleep with light if the bathroom was used during the night. Just a comment. It didn't spoil our stay.

Hotel is in the city centre and very near many eating places. The room was very nice although there was no view. The hotel is dog friendly and the air con works. The staff were most helpful. The roof terrace bar was superb.

I didn't like the miniature croissants with no jam. The breakfast coffee (machine) was awful, although the breakfast, overall, was plentiful. Parking: checking in was a challenge given the lack of outside parking. You can't access the garage until you check in. That's not a criticism, just what is the norm. Parking is in an underground car park and costs €19. If you have a very small car or motor cycle you may love this, but parking a large SUV is not for the faint hearted.

Location is unbeatable. Minutes away from Plaza de la Independència and the Barri Vell. Also walking distance from train and bus station. It is on a busy road but most rooms (including ours) are not facing it. We had no problems at all. Two terraces for great lounging. Staff very professional and courteous.

Price. To justify what we paid per night I would expect a little more: a tea/coffee maker in the room, a bigger gym, a larger seating area in the room with 2 comfortable chairs etc. Stayed in Girona last year around the same time and at that visit we got better value for money. But I certainly would consider staying at the Gran Ultonia again for another trip to Girona.

Location excellent, a few minutes walk to Placa de Independencia, our favourite pllaca & entrance to Vell (old town).. Staff, reception excellent, v helpful, friendly: Water, maps, advice & suggestions. The rooftop cocktail bar super too, Open till 1pm, we arrived late & had tapas & drinks. The views, staff, sofas & and drinks fabulous. Room large, shower exceptional. Great housekeeping too. We were surprised our stay was so reasonable. Great value.

Honestly, we loved everything about the hotel. Two rooms adjacent, as requested. We packed gym gear but didn't bother... There's a large park behind the hotel & walked 18000 steps daily!

The hotel is in a great location to the main plaza, old town and bus/train stations with restaurants/bars very close. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was a good size with a modern bathroom. The rooftop bar is also nice to have if you don't want to go anywhere although was closed for a few nights when a conference was on.

The only real issue we had was noise from people passing by the room. There was a conference on for a couple of days during our stay which meant the rooftop terrace was closed and a separate area on our floor (four) opened to guests which meant people regularly going past the room until the early hours and with no soundproofing we could hear everything.

Perfect location for walking into historic Girona. Room was a good size with excellent shower. Lovely roof top bar which is sheltered and excellent tapas. Car park adjacent to hotel; reception allocate your space according to size of car however it is extremely tight but slowly and manoeuvres it’s possible! Facilities clean and tidy.

If guests are using the roof top terrace inform them that there will be a charge albeit it small but unacceptable to find out on leaving.
