Pod 39

Almost everything was so good. The facilities, the living room in the hotel hall, a very clean room, amazing location and good rate price-quality

The sound of heat in our room was tremendous, if you are not incredibly exhausted of a long turistic day is really dificult to sleep quietly

Whoever designed this hotel thought it through very carefully. Everything worked very well. The bed was comfortable. My room was surprisingly quiet, even though it was next to the lifts. Despite the small size, there were clever options for storage. Pod 39 is extremely well located for Midtown Manhattan. The complementary tea and coffee in the mornings was a blessing and saved going out to find one straight away, although there are lots of options close by.

You have to adjust a bit to the aesthetic, which is quite industrial (metal door etc.), not helped in my case by being in a darker, lower storey room, but once you understand how it's been conceived to make everything very robust and easy to clean to keep the costs low, it's a small gripe and one easily outweighed by having a convenient and affordable place to stay in such a location.

This place was perfect for a solo traveller. The room was small as expected but it was smartly designed with plenty of space for my suitcase and even a small wardrobe which was great for hanging up my winter coat etc. The location was great, nice and close to the subway and Grand Central station. The big spacious area behind reception was a great place to hang out and the complimentary coffee you can help yourself go in the morning was a huge added bonus. Although the rooftop bar was closed for the season I was happy I could still go up there to see the sunset.

I thought the basic room option was perfect for just me. But the bathroom is very open and privacy very limited so I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it to people wanting to share the space. Also I would recommend not arriving at the hotel via subway late at night if you, like I was, are travelling alone and completely unfamiliar with NYC. There are certainly some “characters” around the area late at night! Try to arrive during the day if you can.

Room serviced and cleaned every day. Beautiful rooftop bar. Friendly, helpful staff at the reception desk.

No fridge or kettle in the rooms and tea and coffee facilities only available to guests until 11am each day.

the bathroom door is a sliding window. no privacy... when you sit on the toilet everyone in the room can see you .. strage to design it this way

Good beds and pillows. Good roof bar. Staff at the check in did a good job - very helpful. Staff at the roof at as well very friendly.

I never stayed in a POD - and yes I read the rooms are small. BUT THESE ARE SMALL!!! BEDS are small. I stayed with my daughter - I couldn’t have stayed with my husband being 192cm - he would not fit in the bed. It’s soooo claustrophobic in the room. We had our own bathroom which was great. I was very unlucky to find a stranger mail in my bed after first time of else really good cleaning in my bed… the POD gave me free drinks and some part for breakfast. Great they wanted to do good but was really not pleasant. I must say else the. Leaning was good so I really ask myself how it’s possible. Breakfast is really not that good at the hotel - and some of the staff - really not very fast or helpful. Not the same service as the rest of the hotel.

Location is excellent, just a short walk from grand central station . Also very close to the buses for the new York marathon which was my reason for visiting. 10 min walk to Lexington 53st to connect to JFK . Drinks for marathon runners were available after I got back in reception

- Great location - fun rooftop + bar and rec areas (ideal for a drink without leaving the hotel) - book in advance, pay upon arrival - free coffee/tea service - free all day water station was a life/$ saver - elevator issues were resolved swiftly - house keeping needs well tracked (but not utilized)

- coffee/tea service ends at 11am instead of all day - rooftop bar closes at 11pm even on Fri/Sat (left hotel more than we wanted to find open drinking spots Peter Dillons, Alfred’s Bar, and Hendricks) - rooftop bar service was slow + left a lot to be desired - initial room cleanliness could improve with cleaner surfaces (windows, door, door handles) - after 4 nights, my boyfriend and I woke up to multiple bites all over our bodies after night 5 and 6.

I throughly enjoyed my stay at Pod 39, the staff are great on reception and room maids appreciate tips, even writing thanks on my note! The rooms are clean and tidy everything organised and in its place! I had a problem with the ceramic shower head being cracked and broken it was replaced within 8 minutes of my reporting it, maintenance was outside my room by the time I got the lift back up! The rooftop view is spectacular and if you’re an architecture fan like me you are in heaven, this old warehouse building doesn’t disappoint with the design. Location is great for Grand Central and lots of buses nearby to get across Manhattan really easily. There is a great Thai takeaway place on the corner of Lexington metres away from the hotel serving organic and gluten free food and a Deli on corner of Lexington and 41st, so easy to take food back to room or eat in cafe area downstairs. If you are Gluten free there is also a tiny cafe Lucid on the corner of Lexington and 37th serving great coffee and muffins. If you’re a UK footy fan USA tv channel shows lots of matches, and there are lots of channels for a relaxing evening in! I choose Pod 39 because it is away from the madness of Times Square and reviewers said the mattresses were hard and on that issue they certainly didn’t disappoint - it was as good as my mattress at home! I slept really well with no aches and pains that soft mattresses give on waking. I am already planning my next trip back and will definitely stay there again!

There is nothing to dislike!

Location was spot on for everything you need including restaurants, shops, coffee places, subway links to other places.

There is a USD30 per day deposit charge, not sure for what as there are no mini bar or any other paid services In the room.
