Great central location, so many sights within walking distance, and not far from the subway station, for when there was a need for the train. The room was small, but that's NYC for you...for a family, more room may be needed, but for a couple it'll do just fine. The hotel itself was pretty quiet, didn't hear a lot of noise from other occupants, and even the noises from the street weren't too bad. I would stay here again. No issues with hot water or the temp of the room. Very good bargain for staying in the city, IF you don't need much space.
The receptionist at the desk was a bit unclear about the total due at check-in. He told me one price, but then my card was charged another. It was because of the deposit, which is fine, I just wish that was more clearly communicated before running my card. But he was friendly, all of that front desk staff was.

Very convenient location; also great that Starbucks is in the lobby! Everything felt & smelled clean, altho' worn.
Overall building was cramped. Room not like the one in the photo. Air conditioner took up space in weird corner of room. Wooden cabinets & light fixtures were quaint, not modern. Need more USB outlets! No frig / microwave; had to get ice from Starbucks.

The hotel lobby is small and that's somewhat common for NYC. It shares the building with Starbucks so that's very convenient. The size of the room is what I expected for NYC. I've stayed in even smaller accommodations and much larger. This was in the middle in terms of sq footage. It was cute, and the desk was very convenient for work. I really liked the large windows and blinds. It was nice to let the sunshine in everyday. It was also easy to get to from JFK. I took the airtrain to the LIRR, excited Grand Central and walked 10 mins to hotel.
The chain on the toilet detached twice. Fortunately it was an easy fix so I didn't need to call down to the lobby, but it was a minor inconvenience.

I've stayed by myself for a week and everything was amazing, all the staff was so attenttive, special mention to John who really gets involved in getting to feel every guest as welcomed and helped as possible. The room was big enough, it was so comfortable, with a super great view direct to the Empire State Building. As I stayed for a week they told me I could ask for an upgrade upon availability if I wanted to, but I was so comfy in my room, I didn't even need it.
The only thing I'd mention is the noise as it seems paper walls are so thin, when another guest is outside on the hallway, you feel as if they were in your room. And I would also maybe add some kind of option for breakfast. But regarding this still everything was amazing! I will definetly be back when I'm back in the city!

Room, location, gym pass, price, front desk workers, starbucks, beds
Room size, Room Amenities (I recommend supplying better soaps. It makes a huge different to the guests when they have nice soap), I had to ask for small things like an iron. They should mention that if guests want one, they can get one at the front.

The staff was excellent for the most part, with the exception of one front desk agent, (young Asian man), who, when my AC wasn’t working didn’t want to change my room-it was on my birthday and because of that I missed out on half a day’s activities because I had to change rooms in the early evening, instead of in the morning when the AC wasn’t working at all. He thought that a fan would be ok on a day when it was over 90. The manager did change the room, but it took a big chunk out of my evening to make the switch. I did appreciate the water and mints plus the great suggestions by the more experienced staff at the front desk. As mentioned by others, the hotel could improve storage for clothing as 4 hooks and a few hangers with no drawers does present a problem for clothing storage.
Front desk staff (as mentioned above), could have been more proactive with resolving the AC issue when first reported.

John was a super staff. He moved me to a bigger my room the following day I arrived because the room was too small and did not include a wardroom. John ensured that the hotel provided a fridge to cool my beer, iron & ironing board and a kettle to make my English tea when I asked for these facilities at no extra cost to me. I am from England, London to be precise and all they sell in NYC is coffee. All the staff were fantastic overall. I really like them. they were friendly and approachable. The location was superb. If you are a relevant and important designer, you will be on 5th Avenue where this hotel is also located. It was safe to walk around the area 24/7. I enjoyed the freedom of being alone and honestly was never bored. My best holiday so far even though I have been have travelling to the NYC for over 30 years, the experience was very magical. Will do it all over again next year (2024) sometime.
The size of the room, as it was too small with no facilities such as tea/coffee facilities no breakfast included in the hotel booking also as they did not have a kitchen. It will be nice to provide guests with a minimum of breakfast considering the price the hotel charges.

The proximity made it easy to reach my destinations on foot. I didn't have to use the subway once. The beds were SO comfy. Best hotel sleep I've had in years. The staff was friendly--especially John. The housekeeper went out of her way to help me.
I can't think of anything negative. The rooms are small, but that's NYC. I overheard a client complain that she didn't have a proper wardrobe for her clothing. IDK, it's not the 1800s, it's 2023. If you aren't traveling with an expansive wardrobe, or you're comfortable leaving your clothing in your luggage, you should be fine. There are a few hangers to hang some items. And there were hooks throughout the room for coats/robes/etc.

My husband and I picked this hotel over another we considered based on reviews and location, and I’m pleased that we did. The staff was very friendly and polite, and they even offer to hold your bags the next day after check out if needed. The room was very clean, and personally, the cleanliness of a hotel is a BIG deal to me. There were reviews about the walls being too thin and too much noise from the street…we were on the 7th floor and we could certainly hear noise from the street, but for being so centrally located it was not overwhelming. We slept with the air conditioner on low and had the TV on and fell asleep without interruption from any noises. You can hear people in the hallways but we didn’t experience any issues with loud or noisy neighbors. Maybe it was just luck, but I’ve stayed in much bigger hotels with noise from other rooms that was truly too obnoxious and we didn’t experience any issues with noise from other rooms at this hotel. Our room had all the essentials; toiletries, hair dryer, good size TV, etc. The bed and room overall was comfortable. The location was perfect. Walking distance to plenty of dining, shopping, right across the street from a CVS and Target, and steps away from the subway. The hotel feels truly in the heart of 5th Avenue. Our stay was effortless and comfortable, just what we needed and we would stay again.
The hotel itself is small, and our room was very small. But it had everything we needed for an overnight stay. It’s a bit cramped for a long term stay, but well worth the value for a night or two getaway in NYC.

This was the perfect location for a work trip at an amazing price. Hotel is just a few blocks from tons of subway options at Herald Square or the 33rd Street Lexington Ave. station, but the area is less noisy and crowded than right around the Midtown hubs of Penn Station and Grand Central. Staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful. They stored my luggage when I arrived before check-in, and even delivered my bags to my room before I returned that evening! I have stayed in other nearby “no frills” hotels and my room and bathroom here were a little more spacious and easier to navigate. Bed was super comfy and the bathroom had ample counter space. There is a Starbucks on the first floor that you can access from the lobby. Like other bargain NYC hotels you don’t get amenities like a business center, ice machine, microwave, or mini fridge. But hey, you’re not paying for them either! With so many coffee shop and drug store options just outside it’s not a big deal.
My only complaint is I wished for some clothing storage options besides just a luggage rack. I’m fine mostly living out of my suitcase but there were no hangers or wall hooks for my winter coat. There is no chair/ desk option; just a nightstand, which makes sense for the smaller space.
